USE AT YOUR OWN RISK TSI Technical Service, Palmetto and A/C service provider. We had a service contract with TSI. During a routine six-month service call they diagnosed the condenser motor fan on my under-warranty Trane unit as bad and shut down unit. They advised the part would be available in days, they back ordered till unknown date. 10 DAYS WITHOUT A/C later and still no part I called Trane Corp. in Tampa. They had 4 motors in stock. TSI told me that was not possible. That same day I called HSC A/C at Tampa who subsequently did the installation that same afternoon. TSI was going to charge me $675 (the going rate) for the job…this under their contract that provided for 1st hours of service free and 20% discount thereafter. HSC A/C did the job for hundreds less!!! Lesson Learned.

I got them because the company we had sold us to them.  We were happy with the first one, which I can't remember what it was, but by the second one, this is my last time with them, so poor.  They have a service with us that they come out and do stuff automatically because I had a warranty with the old company.  I don't remember the price.  If it was $.50 it was too much.  They cleaned the ducts as well, and they charged me I think $200 a duct and they were here fifteen minutes.  I had six ducts.  To improve in the future, they should hire new people.

This is the first time I have lived anywhere that I have had the same technician. They have the same route so now I know my dude's name is Kyle and it will always be Kyle. They don't have to keep asking the same questions all the time.

We used a technician for years from another local A/C company, but because my husband is loyal, we followed this tech with he went to Technical Services. We never really had to deal with the office as our guy always came out when he was scheduled. He was the greatest and we really enjoyed him for years. This past January, I called for our biannual A/C check up and was told he left the company. We were not able to locate him and had another TSI tech come out since we had already prepaid for these visits. Our former great guy (don't want to mention names) would spend about 45 minutes at each of our homes here. The new tech spent 15 minutes. In January, our 4 year old unit that TSI installed was failing. We were told the coil went bad and had to spend $725 for fuel and labor. Two months later the unit wasn't working once again and in May 2017, the A/C went out. During these visits, we had two different techs and they would come out when scheduled, I will give them that. In January, for our maintenance check however, we had to rebook twice because once was an excuse of their truck breaking down and another as the tech coming to our home that day was sick. We then scheduled our June appointment for maintenance and the morning of, got a call that their truck broke down AGAIN. Not convenient for us as we had this timed to our schedule. My husband and the manager ended up arguing on the phone. The manager then had the nerve to tell us that the first tech installed a bad A/C at our place. Well he was working for Technical Services at the time! Not professional. Search because you'll see many many A/C companies on this site with great "A" ratings.

And then they said, you get a two year contract with this. Then they came back the next year and said, you've got a problem with your ducts, they are leaking an you need this service done. And they charged me another couple of thousand dollars. And I thought, well, that is strange , they should have done whatever it was that they did the first time. Then recently, the renter called up and said, the air conditioning is broken and it is not even two degrees down here. I wasn't available, I was in Europe. So she called the name of that, Technical Services company. She called their number and they came. I got back from Europe and she said well, I called and they said that the whole system is shut and it was going to cost $6000. I said, well, before we spend that kind of money let me call this other guy that I've used before. I called him and said, how much to replace everything, the thermostat, the pump and everything else? He said it would be about $3000. I said, okay, would  you come and take a look at it and do it? He said, yeah I would. He came out and called me. He said, this system is fine, you don't need to do that. He said, I will just charge you for the service call, it is 60 bucks. Technical Services charged me 60 bucks to tell me I needed a new system for $6000 and the guy I that usually use just charged me a service call. Technical Services gets a zero in my book. I am beginning to think that whatever they said they needed to do that second time, there was absolutely no need to do it. I would never recommend them for anything.

It's a terrible company. They were here for not more than 2 hours and they added a couple of hundred dollars on parts. It was $3000 and to me, that's ridiculous. They dropped it down $500. It was $3500 but they dropped it to $3000. Their service is pretty good. The experience was horrible. They were quick.

Technical Services (TS) has performed all my air conditioning work in my rental condo for 10 years, including the complete replacement of the unit when I purchased the condo.  They have been prompt in responding to calls.  I have had their maintenance/check-up plan every year during that period.  This maintenance plan is a additional item that TS was paid separately for.  TS has occasionally tried to refuse to provide the maintenance services that I paid for if a renter was in the condo.  At other times, TS has provided such service when the condo had a renter.  In any event, my suspicion was that TS wanted the owner there because that was the best way to close a sale for more goods and services.  If indeed, TS was selling only maintenance services, it should not matter who lets them in the condo.

This behavior and the non-stop sales efforts that were part of the ?maintenance services? caused me to question their motives.  Over time the sales pressure generally has increased.  Everything culminated in the last ?maintenance service?.  There was a renter in the unit.  The TS technician telephoned me and told me that several thousand dollars in work needed to be performed.  This occurred in a manner that I viewed as high pressure.  Because of my suspicions, I did not have any of the work done by TS.

Instead, I hired a different air conditioning contractor with good reviews from Angie's List for a low cost system check-up.  That contractor said there was nothing that needed to be done, and that the air conditioning unit appeared to be in remarkably good condition.  He even stated that he did not believe I would not get any payoff from one of one of the TS suggested upgrades.

They came to do the routine maintenance.  They said the handler was impacted by mold and said it would cost $2750 to remove the mold.  He showed me a picture that he supposedly took and it look like it was covered with mold.   I waited and was going to get another opinion.  Another company came out and took a picture of my unit and it was as clean as a whistle.  So Technical Services was trying to scam me.  I would not recommend them.

I don't know if anything was actually done. I paid $35 to be given a sales pitch from a person who was so forceful as to be obnoxious. His plug was to use scare tactics and push and kept worrying about whether i would get other opinions.I find out now, that when I looked him up online that company was given a D/F and my guess is that he was pushing so hard for me to sign right there because he didn't want me to know about the company. I was beside myself worried I was going to die of mold in 24 hours...
I called CoreAir and they came out and gave it to me straight. Every unit has mold over time. It was unlikely that it was mold blowing from my ducts but dirt. He said don't put a lot of money into the system but that it looks like a 20 year old system.
The technical services guy called me - which should've been a red flag. Don't ever sign anything without researching.

We will never again use Technical Services. We had received a discount for the routine maintenance so we did it and purchase a $150 twice yearly maintenance contract from them that includes free after hours calls (to diagnose the issue), etc. Our A/C stopped working on a Friday afternoon so I called them around 5:15pm. After half an hour I called back around 5:45pm. Curtis, the technician on call finally returned my call around 6:45pm that Friday evening.
He said he had a few calls ahead of me so it would be a few hours but he would definitely come out that night. That's understandable, sure. He calls me back at 10:15pm to tell me that he can't make it because he's an hour away and and it was already very late. I was still understanding and said fine and asked when he could come out Saturday. He said we are his FIRST call and he will be out first thing around 9am. Great!
9am came and went (I ended up working from home in the warm house because I wanted to be there when he got there) and he calls me at 10am (an hour late) and says he's just now leaving his house and he will be on his way to my house. I asked him how long and he said it would be an hour because he lives in Cape Coral.
He finally showed up at 12pm (an hour late, again). After about 10 minutes he said our evaporator coil is bad and it would be $3,500 to fix it and he would recommend replacing the whole unit and that it would be $6,800 for that. I never knew that technicians could give estimates for new A/C's and such. I told him we'd have to think about it.
Since then I have gotten a few different quotes all between $4,500 and $5,000 for the new A/C from more reputable companies and have one quote to replace the evaporator coil for $1,500. Why the heck is Technical Services so over priced? With their reliability and pricing we will definitely never be using them again and wouldn't recommend anybody else to do so either.
PS: I noticed another reviewer had stated that the tech told his mother that the duct work was bad. The first time they came out to do our maintenance the technician told us that our duct work was bad and wanted us to pay $4,000 to get it fixed. I'll be having our new company (when we choose which one we're going with) check the duct work. I wouldn't put it past Technical Services to give false information.

I purchased my home in 2007 and as part of my home inspection was advised to have my AC unit thoroughly checked and to also look into upgrading my attic insulation to bring it current to code and make my AC unit operate more efficiently.  I hired a local company to do a service check and for a reasonable fee they checked my system and confirmed that updating the insulation would help with my energy costs.  I also asked about how efficient my system was and was advised that it wasn't very energy efficient but was not worth the investment to upgrade until the system itself needed to be replaced as I would only save a few dollars on my electric bill.  Over the next year, my husband and I were plagued with a lot of sinus problems and I had a very bad sinus infection.  I began to suspect it might be my AC system so I hired Technical Services to sanitize my duct work using a coupon that I had received in the mail.

Technical Services came out and performed the duct sanitation as agreed and showed me where I had significant mold buildup in my air handler and that this constant mold and standing water was unhealthy and was causing damage to my system.  I was shocked to find I had mold as the company that I had used the year before to service my system did not tell me I had mold.  In fact I don't even remember them opening up the air handler so am not sure how thorough their service check was.  I was concerned because both my husband and I are allergic to mold so this clearly explained why we had been so sick all year.

I asked the Technical Services tech why I had such severe mold build up in only one year and was I doing something wrong like maybe running the system too long and at a too low a temperature?  He looked at me in shock and said that the mold buildup was from years of mold build up, not one year.  So I knew for sure the first company had not bothered to open the air handler to inspect and clean it as part of the AC cleaning checkup.  The technician told me not to take his word but had me climb the ladder and actually look at all the mold, I was dismayed to see how thick it was and how extensive it was in every nook and cranny of my air handler.  I shuddered to think that we were breathing this poison every day. He advised me that he would clean the mold and sanitize as part of my coupon service and recommend that I install an UV system to prevent future mold problems.  Now when other reviewers claim that the service techs are salespeople that is partly true but not in a negative way.  Technical Services trains their employees very well so that while your system is being serviced, you are also advised of any upgrades that might benefit you.  I have not had them try to force me into a hard sell on any product.  Rather I am presented with the pros and cons of their recommendations and not threatened of horrors that will happen if I don't take their advice.

Since my husband and I have bad allergies I went ahead and had the UV system installed because being sick constantly wasn't any fun and it was only in this new house that we were getting sick all the time.  While the service tech was there, he also advised me that my attic insulation was not up to code, which I knew from when I purchased the home.  He offered me a good discount if I had the insulation updated with the installation of the UV system.  Not only did I have them do that but also had them quote me a price on upgrading the insulation in my garage as well as it would get unbearably hot.

Although the price for both services was steep, I was assured that I would have a dramatic improvement in my health and also that I would start to see my system run more efficiently cooling my house faster and also reducing my electric bill.  I am delighted to say that all those things happened.  Before the insulation was improved I was not able to get my house to run below 75 degrees and when we went away and came back it would take over 10 hours for the house to cool.  Now it was only taking about half that time.  And we saw our electric bill go down about $50/month in the hottest months.  Finally my husband and I were able to sleep and have a house that was cool enough for us and we were spending less money and having more comfort.  Technical Services believes in loyalty programs for their customers so we received a free 3 year maintenance agreement for an annual service check.  Each year without fail, Technical Services calls me to schedule that free check rather than me having to call them.

My UV light blew out but was under warranty and Technical Services came right out no questions asked and installed a new light.  In 2009 my Central AC compressor unit just died, completely died.  Typical of a low cost contractor installed unit that was not upgraded by the original home owner and that we expected would happen based on the inspection we had prior to purchasing the house.  It was predicted to die in the seventh year and it happened exactly as we were advised it would.

Technical Services came out the day I called and gave me various quotes for multiple systems.  I went with the higher priced unit because it had a very long warranty on it and a higher SEER rating.  The technician knew his stuff and did not push me but advised me of the various rebates the "Cadillac" version had.  On the spot I received a Florida Light & Power rebate as well as a preferred customer rebate that Technical Services offered.  That was an immediate $2700 discount.  I was then advised I was eligible for a $1700 Manufacturer rebate that would be mailed to me (Technical Services completed and submitted all the paperwork, my only job was to cash the check) and that I was eligible for the $1500 Federal rebate when I filed my taxes.  After all the rebates were applied ($5900) my unit now was just a few dollars more than the cheaper less efficient unit that didn't qualify for all the energy rebates.  The technician also advised that I should expect to see my electric bill reduce in half with this new energy efficient system.  My new unit was so huge that change in the air handler system required an additional UV light, Technical Services gave me a great deal because I already had a UV light installed.  In addition they extended my service contract by an additional 2 years.  I also received a free electronic multiple cycle thermostat unit.

The unit was installed and operating within 48 hours and let me tell you we were delighted because it was the middle of summer and it was so hot, we almost checked into a hotel.  When the technician advised the job was complete and showed me how to work the system, I was amazed at the power the unit was putting out and how fast my house was cooling.  Within about 3.5 hours the temperature in my house went from reading 93 to 76, we slept well that night.  When my electric bill came in the next month, I was shocked to see that yes my bill had literally been cut in half.  I was now really enjoying my home and the great system I had.

My electric bill continues to be low and yet my home is very comfortable and no mold has ever come back and I can breath and my husband and I have no sinus problems.  Life has been good thanks to Technical Services.  My most recent job was in March of this year when they came out for my annual system check.  I was advised that there was some water backing up into my air handler and the tech told me he was going into the attic to find the source.  I was advised there were a number of leaks in the seals in my ductwork although my ductwork was fine and would last for many more years.  Because I was a good customer with Technical Services, the tech quoted me the normal price but called back to the owner to ask if they could offer me a better deal given the fact that my system was installed

n Days before Thanksgiving I had family from Texas and California coming to my house for Thanksgiving Holiday. This was a major event indeed! My husband noticed our home to be warmer than usual and an awful sound coming from in the attic. We made a few calls and we thought this could turn out very badly. Everyone said they would not be available until after the holiday unless we paid an emergency fee just to come and see what the problem could be. We called Technical Services and found some very nice people who said they could come that afternoon. The tech arrived on time and he was very nice &  he took his time to inspect many areas to ensure he found the source. I was apprehensive he would say we need a whole new unit or some ridiculous quote. He said there was an issue with our air ducts and a drip pan needed to be replaced and a new part on the inside unit. The bid was fair and he completed the work before nightfall and even had another tech drop a part off in order to not delay him from completing the job. I would have to give Technical Services an A all around for being professional and knowledgeable , fair and with a  friendly attitude.

They said the A/C was leaking Freon, and it would cost $2400.00 to find the leak and correct it. We also needed UV lamps due to mold. We got other estimates, and it cost $150.00 to replace a drain pan that someone stepped on. There was no mold, but we were 2 units low on Freon. There was no leak however.

The work was estimated on 03/09/2006 and the work was performed on 03/10/2006. The installation crew was here at my house for one and one half hours, when the were completely done. this conflicted with what the technician/salesman contention that our AC system would be a difficult job and would take an entire day. I felt this overstatement, meant that i could have had a 13 seer unit and a UV light, since they overcharged me for labor. in addition, the time delay thermostat was not installed, because the installers said the thermostat i had was better than the new one they had to offer. The installer gave me the thermostat, but did not install it. on 01/11/2007 a technician came to the house to service the AC and made the following comments: Some dust in system... recommend Clean Air Package, including UV light. a discounted price of $2350.00 was the cost of this package. 0n 04/23/2008, a technician came to the house to service the AC and made no comments on dust, mold or corrosion or any other problem with the AC system, as though there was nothing to worry about. on 02/09/2009 a technician came to the house to service the AC. Just 10 months after the last visit, where no problem existed, the technician made the following comments: "Found Microbio growth all over drain pan, motor, insulation" "Recommend air quality package" at a discounted price of $1950.00 He went on to say that there was an unusual amount of mold growth and and the squiril cage was very corroded. he said that the air handler would have to be removed and disassembled. the evaporator coil was corroded and would have to be re-galvanized. mold was throughout the house and the ducts would have to be sanitized with a HEPA vacuum. the technician said this was all included in the "Air Quality Package for $1950.00". Further, he said that without the advised service, the AC system would only last one more year. Again, this is just 10 months after the last service technician found nothing wrong. in addition, this is the AC system they installed 2years and 11 Months earlier. I was annoyed that the AC system was in such a state so soon after installation. I asked why the UV light was not installed at the time of installation. the technician said "when a customer pays 4500.00 to 5000.00 for a system, they don't want to add too much more to the price. i didn't pay 4500.00 or 5000.00, I paid $5547.00 (discounted from $6047.00, because i could not afford the 13 Seer unit). TSI knew or should have known that the AC system would be toast in less than three years without the UV light. Why wasn't i offered this at the time of installation? some technicians have cameras, which allow you to see the problem area, but this technician did not have a camera.
