Professional.   Install was fairly quick.   Cleaned up extra plumbing parts that was there before.
$999 seems expensive to me though.   Pump was $650, can get them at Lowes in the $200-$300 range.

Originally requested drain cleaning and leaky pipe repair. Scheduled arrival 9 am, arrived at 9:10. Showed workers area where drain was slow. Explained my previous attempts to clear drain. Also told them that leaking pipe was in the same area in the crawl space. Explained none of the adjacent sinks where having this problem. Worker explained to me they would use water pressure to clear the line since it appeared to have at least one 90 degree turn if not more. Since they could not attach their hose to a working outside water source to flush the drain and because of a potential for water backing up the main vent we agreed to stop. They mentioned they did not want to use their drain snake since they had just spent $300 getting it repaired doing a similar job and they had not brought it with them.
They then began work on leak in crawl space. The area in question is a little congested with piping from 3 sinks, 2 toilets, a shower and a tub. The pipe that is leaking is about 4" long and for welding new pipe it is a little too tight for me. I assumed wrongly that they would replace copper pipe for copper pipe. They cut and replaced leaking pipe with Pex and Shark Bite joints. Since i have used Shark Bite to repair other leaks in the past, I could have easily done this job myself.
They were done with all work at approximately 11:15am. 
Since the first half hour was spent on the drain the remaining time, 1.5 hours, was spent on repairing the leak.

Misc Charge ??? = $49 (no explanation on invoice)
We had used them on 2 previous jobs. We were very happy with the response and cost of the first job; happy with the second job but price seemed high. Decided to give them a third try and I am convinced not to use them again due to cost versus quality/quantity of work.

This is the third time this year that we have hired Nate Thornton for plumbing work. Each experience has has great. Excellent work, performed in a timely manner, at a fair price. When it comes to plumbing work, Nate is our go-to guy!

Arrived on time and assessed the situation with my sump pump.  Appropriately recommended replacement.  Had the parts on hand and ready to install.  Entire service was under 1 hour.  Very professional and clean.  Would definitely call again.

They arrived on time and introduced themselves to me and our dog. They looked and the problem and let me know what they would need to do and gave me an estimate. they left to get parts as my bath/shower is 30 years old and standard parts won't fit. we had already discovered this ourselves. they returned in a timely fashion and replaced the parts and tested them. They brought down all the packaging and old parts and gave them to me. After completing everything they prepared my statement and the cost was right along with the estimate. I received a 3% discount for paying by check instead of using credit cards. I appreciated their passing that savings on to me. They were professional and cheerful. I would not hesitate to call them again or to recommend them.

Secured appointment for the same day and the serviceman was on time.

When you call them you get a real person that answers the phone instead of a voicemail machine and he seems to be a type of dispatcher.   He will inform us of when a plumber can come and do the job. They are very tidy and always timely and clean everything up after the work has been completed.  They are very courteous and have done a lot of work for us in the past that we have always been very pleased with.

There was a break in main sewage / septic line from my 80 year hold mother's home out to the public connection at the street in Portland, Indiana.  Imagine my shock when I learned that she had been without water for several days when I made my weekly "check up" call from out of state to see how she was doing with the local bad weather.  From the time I contacted Kyle through the final resolution of the repairs Thornton Plumbing was kind, courteous, professional and caring.  Although this business did not complete the final repairs (my brother found private resource to accommodate the work on his schedule) Kyle followed up to ensure that services had been completed at my mother's residence and offered assistant with her repair questions and concerns.  Thornton Plumbing, and employees like Kyle are a superior example of what it means to work with a family owned business.  They take ownership and professional responsibility to the next level and I would highly recommend them to anyone in the area.  Thank you, thank you for going "above and beyond" during your visit to my mother's home to evaluate the repair needs, your kind project advise and your sincere professionalism.

I called this company after walking into my basement and saw water pouring from the bottom of my rusted water heater.  It was after hours, about 6:30PM, and Nate Thornton answered the phone.  I explained the situation and he made an appointment with me for 1PM the next day.  They were right on time, brought everything they needed with them, removed the old and installed a brand new water heater in less than 2 hours, and it looks and runs fantastic.  Nate and his employee were ultra professional and he took the time to let me know exactly what was going on.  My experience with this company was very good and I will definitely use them again if the need arises.

Our water system completely shut itself off.  There was water in the crawl space and the well pressure switch was brittled and rusted. The wires were all corroded and disconnected itself. 
I called the first well and pump company (C & J) and sent them pictures. They told me  that I would have to pay $500 for them to remove it due to the hazardous of wires and water in sand before they could make any diagnosis and do a test system.  C & J recommended that we do it ourselves or have a friend in order to save $500 before they arrive.  Because we had no water and we had no idea what we were doing as it was a hazardous situation. I decided to go ahead and pay $500 for them to come this very afternoon to remove it.  However, I waited until 3:30 pm for them to arrive.  I gave up and cancelled the appointment with C & J Well and Pump company and called  Thornton Plumbing company (317-697-9265, www.thornton-plumbing.com). The secretary told me that Nate would arrive within 30 minutes. He actually arrived within 15 minutes!  He quickly made a diagnosis and went right to work. He removed the old Well Pressure Switch and replaced the new Well Pressure Switch in the crawl space.  We were able to have showers that evening and I was able to finish laundry and wash dishes as well.   
Nate took out the anode rod from our water/heater and showed me the severely deteriorated anode rod (about 51" long) and over 75% loss which caused the high sulfur (rotten egg) odor in our hot water, ugh. 
I highly recommend Nate Thornton for any well and plumbing repairs.  He knows his stuff, is honest, and is quick to do the work.
Nate's notes were specific with details and costs.  Nothing was overlooked. After researching and comparing other well and pump companies and plumbing companies cost estimates, Nate Thornton's prices are absolutely reasonable. No rip-offs.   
We will be using Thornton Plumbing from now on.

The Thornton Plumbing contractor was punctual and responsive, and he appears to have done a good job with the installation (no problems in the past year). We'd hire Thornton again!

Service was excellent. Each time I called Nate he called back promptly. When he ran late due to traffic, he called en route to keep me updated. He and his team are very professional and do great work. I originally contacted him about a garbage disposal only but asked if he could check a few things out. He was very helpful in his recommendations and we liked him so much we asked him to do more work for us. We plan to do some further updating to our bathrooms and he gave helpful advice. He is frank and never alarmist. You can tell he cares about his customers and wants them to be happy and safe.

At 9:00am, I called the number for Thornton Plumbing that was posted here on Angie's list and talked directly with Nate Thornton. I told Nate I had a leaky water heater and wanted to know if he could take a look at it today. Nate said he would have to check his schedule, be he believed he had an open spot at noon and would call me back in a few minutes if he found out different. Nate called back a little after 11:00am and said he would be able to head over soon if I was available. I was, so Nate arrived 20 minutes later.
Nate recommended a new water heater, stating that if he tried to fix it and the fix didn't work, it would cost me more to then replace the water heater. I asked him to replace it he and his fellow employee (whose name escapes me now) got right to work draining the tank. They left to go get a replacement water heater and stop by another appointment, but promised to be back and get started on the replacement. They arrived back a couple hours later (not an inconvenience for me since I was working from home that day) with the water heater, ready to get to work.
Nate told me that his supplier was out of 40 gallon water heaters, so he was willing to upgrade me to the 50 gallon for no additional cost since he had one in stock. After about 20 minutes removing the old water heater and taking some measurements, he realized the space we needed to put it in was not capable of fitting the taller 50 gallon unit. He stated that another supplier in Carmel had a short 40 gallon unit like mine and he would just have to run to get it.
Not too much later, they were back with the short 40 unit and had it installed in a fair amount of time. Nate walked me through operating the unit, suggestions on maintenance, and approximately how long it would take for me to be able to take a hot shower again.
The guys were very professional, very nice (didn't mind my four year old son chatting with them), and Nate was letting me know what was going on every step of the way. Nate was apologetic for the issues in getting a replacement and not being able to get the 50 gallon tank in there for me. I told him not to worry, I was still very happy with his work.
I would definitely recommend Thornton Plumbing and will be calling them again when I need a plumber.

I called Thornton plumbing at 2:00 pm on 3/18/14 because a new refrigerator was just delivered and the ice maker valve was leaking.  He assured me he would be here by 5:30 the same day.  He actually made it by 4:00.  He fixed the valve and hooked up the new refrigerator in about 1 1/2 hours.  We were thrilled.  While Nate was here, we showed him a few other things that needed fixed and he gave us an estimate.  We made an appointment for 3/20/14.  They arrived on time and did a great job of getting everything fixed in about 2 hours.  They were great about cleaning everything up before they left.  I would recommend Thornton plumbing.

Scheduling was quick. The service turned out really well. They had to do a lot of additional work to make the tune up and quiet valve work. They worked hard to make sure everything was working properly before they left. I have used them again since this service.

I called & in minutes Kyle called me back.   I explained that we were having a water pressure issue. We would flush the toilet and have no water pressure immediately after.  We are on a well and we thought it might be the bladder to the well unit. He said they could be there in an hour. I said I was at work and the next day at 3:00 would be good.  He said Nate would be there at 3:00.  Nate was waiting in his truck promptly at 3:00 the next day. Within minutes he had a diagnosis.  He said that the water should flow through the water softener before going through the home filter system, not hooked up to our main water line like it was.  After bypassing the home filter system he determined that most likely it was clogged and causing the low pressure problem because the pressure was back to normal.  Later we changed the filter out with a new one. I was impressed with his knowledge and his quick diagnosis of the problem.  Highly recommended.

Kyle showed up to give an estimate.  He was very easy to talk to and very professional.  His price was competitive and fair.  He was very good at explaining what they wanted to do and how they were going to do it.  I had a lot of questions and he patiently answered them all.  The job was done on time and there was no mess left.  When the stove arrived there was a problem with the location of the plumbing because we had purchased a double oven range.  I called Kyle and the job was taken care of the next day without an additional charge.  I would HIGHLY recommend them for work.  Last night my water heater started leaking...any guesses to who I called?  You got it, Kyle and Thornton Plumbing.  He came out last night to help  me turn off the water and figure out what to do.

They did an awesome job. Kyle was VERY professional. They were prompt and left no mess. I would use this company in a heart beat and have put them on my contact list. Don't waste your time with other companies.

The work was well done, the workmen were neat, tidy, and polite, and they were on time. We did have a misunderstanding about the labor cost; the gentleman I initially spoke with on the phone quoted a labor price of $175+ parts, per toilet.  The bill came to $250+parts, per toilet.  The $175 covered only a portion of the labor for the job.  I had received a prior quote from another provider for $190 per toilet; I chose Thornton for the price.  After a few phone calls, we reached a fair compromise.  Thornton agreed to meet the other company's price, and Mr. Thornton himself came to our home on a Sunday to deliver a refund of $120.  I recommend Thornton's for the quality of work they did, and for the excellent customer service.
