BEST FRIENDS PET DOCTOR

The vet we've used for years instituted a new policy ... no humans in exam rooms and no time with the vet, only vet techs. We have six fuzzy butts who are not yard dogs. They are family, and I would not allow one of them alone in an exam room any more than I would allow my child to be in there alone. So I looked around and found the most amazing vet I've ever known in my entire and long life. Dr. Wendy Kempa spent time with me in the waiting room, asking questions about Toby, the one I took to see her, waited for him to come get to know her, and got to know him all the while asking many interesting questions. Now, Toby is a rat terrier, about 12 years old, with a really rotten case of arthritis in his hips, and he despises going to the vet. Not only was I allowed in the exam room, but Dr. Kempa, Alisa, Jan, and Paulette all were in there with him, taking care of him, loving on him, talking to him, not rushing, not scaring him, and when Dr. Kempa gave him his shots he never even quivered. Another thing that will make him try to take your hand off is trimming his nails. After being warned about that, they put the cutest little blue muzzle on him and he stood there like a little soldier at attention while they trimmed and then used an emery board on his nails. I was thunderstruck, and Dr. Kempa explained to me that once a dog's ability to bite has been removed, the dog relaxes. I never knew that. Toby and one other of our dogs are very frightened of thunder. Dr. Kempa explained to me that we needed to have "thunder parties" where when thunder booms, everyone makes a loud, happy noise, has a drink, and the scared pooches get a special treat they do not get at any other time. Storming here this morning, so I tried it and it worked like a charm. I literally cannot say enough good things about Dr. Kempa and her staff. They are, hands down, the best group of people I've ever trusted to take care of our animals. And if that weren't enough, their prices are lower than other vets in the area, and the meds and supplements they offer are priced even lower than online prices. I LOVE this place. Run, do not walk, to them if you have animals. You will not regret it. I promise.
