Not good. Told when technician drove my car that he may have heard some noice. Said i needed new brakes,so that's what I got done. After 700$ paid. Still have same problem. The reason I gave them a C was that I have 80K miles on my car and probably would have needed new brakes, not immediately but probably soon

Jim was professional and friendly. He went above and beyond to help me and he replaced my compressor and got me out the door within two hours. I believe he was genuine and honest and I plan on returning for my car care needs.

Company changed timing belt and water pump on an older model car with high mileage.  When car was done,  Jim called and told me car was ready for pick up, but changed oil at the same time.  The $29 charge overall was not the problem, but he decided  the car needed it before I agreed to the additional cost.  When I picked up the car, it smelled like it was leaking oil, which it did not do before the service.  When I returned to discuss this issue,  I was told, the car  is old and has high mileage, and should expect problems. The car had service a few weeks prior and it wasn't leaking oil, coincidence  maybe.    He made me feel ignorant and defensive, and kept saying, "it wasn't our fault", because I asked questions concerning the  previous service.  I was just asking questions.   There was no problem when he collected over $1300 for the repairs of my high mileage car over the last 6 weeks, but there was a problem when I presented questions, since I don't know much about automobiles, and was asking the 'professionals'.
Response from Jim's Automotive & Performance
"(Member name removed) I appreciate your business we have repaired your vehicle with professionalism and you personally know my integrity and honesty, yes we did 2 jobs for you with the last one installing a new timing belt and water pump, both jobs were successful. You then came back 4 weeks later (the other day) and slammed your car door and stormed in my office and Both my tech and I was like what in the world?? I had customers in my waiting room when you accused me of making your car leak oil after we put in a water pump and timing belt, I told you we had absolutely nothing to to with and oil leak doing the last job, you did not believe what I was telling you and I then asked have I done anything to you for you not to trust me and you said no, I then asked you to believe what I was telling you. and what I told you and showed you your car has 200,000 miles on it and your gaskets were leaking because of it ,valve cover gaskets and oil pan gasket. I'm not sure why you wrote this post and leaving some important details out, as far as the 29 dollar oil change that it definely needed I asked you if it was ok to change it and you said it's ok,, if you would have said no it would have been free for you. It's not fair that you would rate me the way you have done and I wish you luck. Warm Regards. Jim"

It took awhile to find the problem the car was having, as the car wouldn't duplicate the issue I was encountering without time  and replicating exact circumstances.  Once finally correctly diagnosed, the mechanics fixed the problem.

I called Jim, told him I had a 20 yr old truck that had had very little tlc over the past few years, and wanted to know if he could take a look at it and tell me what it might need to be a dependable running truck again.  I mentioned that it was a second vehicle, it was old and I didn't look to put alot of money into it.  I told him I was in no hurry,  to look at it when he had time.  Within a week, he had called me back to let me know what it really needed and how much it would cost.  I agreed to the work and the price.  I called him back to ask about the tailgate-it didn't have to work, but it sure would be nice!!  Within a couple of days the work was done, at our agreed upon price.  I now have a truck that looks 20, but runs like new!!  I couldn't be happier with the entire experience!!  It is the first time I can remember walking out of an automotive repair place feeling that only the work that needed to be done was done and  it was quality work at a fair price!

Son has an older car and we weren't sure whether it was worth repairing.  I called Jim and spoke with him and he provided an estimate on what needed to be done and told us what could wait.  He was conscientious and timely and provided a fair price. I will use his services again.

They solved an air conditioner problem no one else was able to do in a timely and inexpensive fashion. They switched a valve around and now it works great. I am very happy with them. They provide excellent service with good prices.

The front end of my vehicle was making a 'clunking' noise and was moving around quite a bit. I had originally taken my vehicle to The Tire Choice and they had diagnosed the problem as being the lower control arm assembly and said that it needed to be replaced, and quoted me a cost of $800. I found Jim's Automotive on Angie's list and took my truck to him the following Saturday. Jim put my truck up on the lift and quickly diagnosed the problem as being an issue with whoever did my last wheel alignment, which happened to be The Tire Choice. Evidently when they did my last wheel alignment they didn't tighten the bolts down and that's why the front end was moving and making the 'clunking' noise. Jim did say that the front end needed new ball joints, so I had him go ahead and replace those, which he did at less than half the cost of what The Tire Choice quoted me. I could tell that Jim was a true mechanic and knew how to diagnose the real issue, so I had him do some additional work that needed to be done also, since my truck has 125,000 miles on it. He did a full wheel alignment, changed the spark plugs and tune up, flushed the automatic transmission fluid and replaced the fluid and filter. I picked up my truck the following Monday and it runs and drives great, feels like a new truck.

I've been unbelievably ripped off for repairs and tires at the national chain places like Tire Choice and Rick Johnson.
Jim is honest and affordable, and he's a good guy. I came in this morning with a flat tire, but I knew I needed new tires all around. I was thinking of going to Sears, but Jim said he could match their price, and indeed he did. I also didn't have to drop off the car and wait all day like you do at Sears. Jim called when the tires came in. I drove over to the shop, and 45 minutes later, I was out of there.
I hope those of you in San Carlos Park will patronize Jim's Automotive. He's a real old fashioned neighborhood repair guy.
