We requested a quote over the internet for a new garage door opener. A representative contacted us by phone (not via our specified preferred method of communication - email) and offered options. We chose the more feature rich option and he scheduled us for the next day (even though I stressed that it wasn't a rush). The technician arrived and examined the old opener. When he heard it try to run, he immediately knew the problem and discussed options. Based on the price to fix vs new, we chose to fix. He also heard a concerned noise in our track and showed us that the rollers were in desperate need of replacement. While I could have replaced the rollers myself for 1/6th the cost, it would have been an hour or more of my time and the technician left me feeling a sense of trust in his honest approach to our needs. I would definitely use their services again!!!

He went right to work.
I pointed out the rust on my 11 year old door.He explained that if I had paperwork from the company, I could get a panel replacement free.I didn't 't have the paperwork,so he called the company and asked about the original installIon which they had done.He found the garage door manufacturer and found out the cost of a replacement door panel.He did all that without my asking for this.I feel this was service beyond what was I expected. This company gives great service!

Only one company called me promptly at 8 AM Saturday morning, Action Door, and I had a nice chat with the dispatcher who could get a technician out between 11 and 2 PM for a cost of $182, with tax, to fix one spring. The technician called me 45 min before 11, said he could come early, and arrived a half hour early. He suggested fixing both springs for $282. (I know that is the right thing to do because the spring was 28 years old and a good company should suggest replacing both. Their price is the national average for this work, a fair trade price. He described the job he had to do and the tensioning required for the springs to function. This is not a repair for the inexperienced, a novice, or the faint of heart, to tension a 3 foot long 0.2 inch thick steel spring with seven turns. Best to let someone with experience to take the risk, and I am an senior who was a mechanical engineer so I appreciate the professional installer taking the risk when some serious forces of nature are involved).
The job took less than an hour to fix the spring and then when tested, the garage door opener would not turn the gear. This was a cascade failure because of the spring failure and me trying the motor a half dozen times Friday night had fried the capacitor unknowingly; cascade failures are very common in modern technology. The technician quickly identified the capacitor failure in the motor unit, replaced the capacitor, it was in their truck, and the door worked perfectly. The price was $58 more with tax, for troubleshooting, diagnosis, parts and labor; a real bargain considering he had to solve a complete surprise!
All said and done, there is also a one year warranty on labor and five year on springs. The final total was $340 with tax and 70 minutes to do the job. Well worth it for my time and wallet to use their competence and experience.
So I am happy, no longer a prisoner of my garage! Thank you Action Door, you are courteous, fair priced, and action guys!

Just a few days after contacting Action Automatic Door & Gate, JC the technician showed up at my home on time. He was very cordial, professional and very patient and knowledgeable in answering all my questions. He was very proficient and got the job done in about 2 hours.
I will definitely contact this company again if/when I need garage door related services.

"To whom it may concern: In researching this, we found that [member name removed] had Action Automatic Door and Gate confused with another local Garage Door company. I spoke with [member name removed] several weeks ago upon receiving a complaint via email. She and I agreed that she mistakenly thought we were the company she had called, but I confirmed for her that she had actually called Overhead Door Co of Ft. Myers. She indicated to me in that phone conversation that she intended to put out a poor review of Overhead Door Co of Ft. Myers. I also asked if we could look at a location for the wireless keypad that came with the original job; but was not installed because we didn't want it attached to the coral rock at the exterior corners of our garage. The technician found an area where the keypad could be mounted near the door frame. He put it up, helped me program it and it was all set without any additional charges.
We liked the way the company handled the original removal of our old garage door and installation of the new one in 2010. They were courteous, left a very clean job-site, and made sure we were happy before we paid for the work. I was glad I called Action to service the door.
