We had our a/c serviced and a week later we noticed condensation has been dripping through the ceiling. I scheduled a technician for a window between 9-11 am. I missed a call at 9:53 am and 9:55 am. I received a text at 9:45 am. As soon as I saw the missed calls and text at 10:09 am, I replied back. The reply I received was to reschedule. When I called the technician, I was told because I didn't answer my phone, my appointment was cancelled. This annoyed me because I responded within 16 mins of the first call. I called the main number at 10:14 am, and was told by Jared that their policy is to cancel appointments if a customer doesn't answer the phone when they call 30 mins prior. At this point, admittedly, I'm upset. I made arrangements for someone to be at the house waiting for the technician, and I responded within 16 mins of receiving these notifications. I explained to Jared, I have an extremely busy schedule and when I make appointments with vendors, I expect them to show up and not cancel on me within 16 mins of not hearing back. Several other vendors on this day arrived in the service windows provided and all successfully fulfilled their duties. Jared told me I'm not the type of customer Aloha needs, and I would have to agree. I've been a customer for probably 10 years including the installation of our current unit, and if this is how Aloha manages it's customer service today, I'm happy to accept Jared's deciding to no longer service our home. He did refund 50% of our year long service agreement, and I've happily switched to a new service provider.

We called Air Conditioning Excellence, a company we have used many times in the past with excellent results. We were told the company had been sold to Aloha Air Conditioning. A repairman from Aloha came and said the coils needed to be cleaned and gave us an estimate of $570.00. We made an appointment for the service at 2PM the next day. After I called several times a technician finally arrived at 6PM. By that time, we were fed up and cancelled. The dispatcher never offered an apology or explanation for the delay. We called another company and they checked the coils and found them to be clean. They diagnosed the problem as a clogged water line. They fixed the problem and charged $175.00.

I bought a brand-new A/C system 2 years ago from Aloha. Last month I came home and it was blowing hot air, so I called for help. They charged me $180 for a technician to come out because it was 6pm, apparently, they only warranty labor for one year. Tip for anyone - book yourself into the Hilton for the night and call for service the next morning, it will be cheaper and much more enjoyable. The technician came out, diagnosed the issue in less than 30 seconds. Took longer to write up the repair than it did to diagnose. Of course, he did not have the part, it would need to be ordered. Called the next morning and got repair scheduled for that day. I met the technician at my home, overall he spent 1 hour and 12 minutes repairing the unit, bringing the overall time at my home to 1 hour and 22 minutes. The part was under warranty, but I was charged $352 for labor, bringing my total to $532... for a warranty repair!! The estimate was based on 3 hours, but when I contacted Aloha for a reduction they claimed the tech had to go pick up the part, then return the bad part. Come on... what a rip off. There is no way they made a special trip just to pick up and drop off my parts, the technician himself told me they visit the parts location EVERY SINGLE DAY. I'm certain I could have completed the pick up and drop off for less than $10, you decide if $532 seems like a reasonable amount to pay for an hours work. The whole episode led me to research the A/C unit I was sold, and it turns out that many people are having the same issue I did with the Rheem units made in Mexico (may be why it took the technician 10 seconds to diagnose). I firmly believe I was sold a piece of junk, so make sure you research the unit they are trying to offload on you before you sign that document. As usual, I trusted the company to do the right thing.... bad idea. Hope this cautionary tale helps someone.

Went very well. I have had other companies perform this same service in the past years and was not completely satisfied. Aloha does a great job. They are very thorough, professional, and reasonably priced. I feel they are a very honest and decent company. Updated 6/5/17 The first visit went well and I reviewed that - this review is about the second visit. I purchased a service agreement and had the standard bi annual a/c service performed on January 20, 2017. The service agreement provides priority service as well as a 10% discount off of repairs. My air went off on Sunday evening. I called aloha at 7:40 PM that evening and left a message stating that I needed service asap. I did not receive a call back. I called again on Monday morning at 7:45 AM. There was no mention from the person I spoke with that they had received my call the evening before. I was given a time frame of 1PM-3PM that day. I requested an appointment earlier since I had a service contract and was supposed to receive priority service and I had called the evening before and left a message with no call back at all. At 2:30PM I called the office to see how far away my a/c tech was .I was told he was at the maximum one hour away from arriving. I questioned why he was late. I was told he was new and was having trouble with the paperwork and collecting payment from his customer who was further north from me. I live in Weston which is where the company headquarters is based out of. At 3:30PM I called the office again stating the tech had not arrived. I was told again he was new and was having difficulties. I explained to the office administrative assistant that my house was now 87 degrees farenheight. Too hot for my child who has a medical condition. I was offered an additional 10% off of the bill and told the tech would be there at 4:00PM. I called again at 4:12PM to say the tech was not at my house. The office told me the GPS showed he was close by and other than that they had no idea why he was so late. I had asked them earlier to send another tech they did not have anyone available. The tech arrived at the gatehouse at 5PM. He was pleasant enough, and did tell me he had only been working for the company for a very short time. He was at my house for two hours. Part of the reason why he was here so long was because the line was completely clogged. He showed me the contents of what he just flushed out of the line in a bucket. I had service January 20, 2017, so four months to the day the line is mysteriously clogged again. Now, this a/c is a 5 ton Rheem unit installed in late 2012. Moreover, my house was built in 2003. Since it has been built I have had service every 6 months doing then standard maintenance on the unit The serve was provided by a licensed and well known ac company in the area. I never had the line clogged in between service visits. Now, for the first time, aloha took over service in January 20, 2017, and four months to the day the line is clogged. I feel that the service performed on January 20, 2017 was not done properly and although the invoice for that service documented that line was cleaned, it was not done properly. On this recent visit, there was also a small part that needed to be changed out. This tech should have been here a maximum of one hour. He was here for two hours due to the lack of proper service done On January 20, 2017when I purchased the service contract. My bill with the 20% discount was $273.00. All a/c companies charge by the hour , so I paid for an extra hour because of the clogged line that in my opinion was not properly flushed out in January. I am going to request a refund of the purchase price of my service contract. It doesn't make sense to have them come out a second time and run into the same issue. I am sure there are those rare instances where lines do clog up within four months time frame. In my case, the facts don't support this hypothesis. I had another a/c company for years come out twice per year and the line never clogged in between. The other company had come to my house six months prior to the initial visit from Aloha on January 17. 2017. There was no clog in January when the tech came to service the unit and as part of the preventative maintenance flashed out the line. Then exactly four months later it is mysteriously clogged. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. However, considering the fact that no one responded to my initial call on Sunday night, then nobody called me on Monday and my "priority " service consisted of a 1-3pm time frame with an arrival of 5PM by a brand new tech I cannot give them the benefit of the doubt. In addition, Aloha has their hours listed on Angies list as being until 11:00PM with 24 hour service. Well, in my case I called Sunday evening at 7:40PM , and left a message. Nobody called me back. I called again on Monday morning and nobody seemed to have any information regarding my call the evening before. Then the earliest appointment they gave me was 1-3Pm, and the tech arrived at 5PM . I would say that in my case, I was not given priority service. In fact I was given very poor service overall and then overcharged in my opinion. I am very disappointed to say the least "

If you want to pay nearly double what you should have to, then go ahead and call Aloha A/C. While the worker was competent, he was not friendly, communicative, or willing to work with me in the situation. They were aware that they had sold me a faulty a/c unit a few years ago, yet still refused to work with me when it came to price for the repair on a unit, which was still under warranty. This was the 3rd motor that had to be placed in the a/c unit. Two years ago, they charged $270, still high for 1 ½ hours work and a free part. This time, I was charged over $500 for the exact same job. This is clearly price gouging; taking advantage of customers in a hot climate with a daughter with a medical condition who are in a desperate situation. In a hot climate in the midst of allergy season, if you need your a/c repaired quickly due to medical needs, Aloha will certainly accommodate you for a HUGE cost. I would never use them nor recommend them to anyone else.

On October 14th I called around to a few electricians and a/c specialists from Angie's List in order to get some quotes and make a possible appointment to have a new wifi thermostat installed. I spoke with someone in the office at Aloha ( a few days later one of the employees told me that this was probably Maggie) who gave me a quote of $65.00 for the first hour of work and x dollars (I cannot remember this price) for each additional 15 minutes. I thought that sounded like a good price so I made an appointment for Monday. I could not imagine that a thermostat would be more than an hour to install. A gentleman named Ira from Aloha arrived to do the work. When he had it removed from the wall he asked me if I was aware of the pricing. I said yes and told him what I had been quoted on the phone. He just laughed and said "oh no, it costs $65.00 just to come out to your house". He promised me he would try to have the work done in under an hour and said that then the price would only be $135.00 and asked if that would be ok. I did not think that was ok at all as that was not what I was told on the phone However I told him just to go on ahead and do the job as he already had the thermostat off of the wall and I had taken the day off to get this work done, so I wasn't going to waste the time calling another company. The job ended up taking about 75 minutes as Ira said he had never seen a thermostat like this one before (it was brand new and from Honeywell) and he seemed to get quite frustrated a few times which made me a bit uncomfortable. However, eventually he did get it all figured out and I feel that he did a very good job and I am pleased with my thermostat. I would not use this company again though as I feel that there are more professional companies in the area.

I would avoid this company for installation of air conditioning. Repairs might be OK, but we had a bad experience and did not get the unit we thought we were when Aloha installed a new 4 ton Carrier air conditioner in our home. If you do select them for installation make sure you are getting what you think you are! Had estimates from a number of companies favored on Angie’s List. I told each that we needed a variable speed fan because my wife’s lung disease leaves her very sensitive to humidity and temperature variation. A construction engineer had told us that the variable speed fan would dampen temperature differences when the unit was cooling. We thought we were getting the air handler with that fan! On start up – SURPRISE. When I mentioned the variable speed fan the workmen said, “You don’t have a variable speed fan.” Aloha’s answer: “I sent you the model numbers.” (It was in the e-mailed proposal) The salesperson never used the word variable speed fan in talks before the install. He kept saying, “This fan adjusts to pressure in the ducts.” To my ear this sounded like the variable speed fan I wanted. So let the buyer beware! The salesman’s solution to the lack of desired fan – run the fan continuously. We tried that but found it is not feasible because my wife’s lung disease cannot tolerate the consequent humidity rise. She suffers the consequences. Cost: All the other companies were comparable in price however their estimates were based on the pricier Carrier variable speed fan so we paid more for less product. D on price. We paid $5,275. Today, May 3, Aloha offered to replace the air handler they installed with one with the desired variable speed fan for an additional $1,500. Punctuality: Workmen arrived late. Pardonable because of storm that day so could not complete the job in the promised 1 day. Though the unit was up and working that day it took a week to complete the job. When I called the office to see when they were coming back I was told I was not on the schedule. It was like who are you? If Ralph is your salesman and job supervisor do not expect him to show up when he says he will. Other issues: Molding with protruding nails sat in our living room for a week while we waited for them to complete the job. Two of their trucks leaked oil on a new paver driveway. When I asked Ralph to have that cleaned up his response: “You want us to clean your house while we are there?” But they did their best to clean that up. Pembroke Pines building inspectors flunked the job 3 times before final approval. Workmen seemed mystified by my request for a dust tent before they cut a hole in the wall. This request because my wife’s lung disease. A friend constructed the dust tent. Owner of the business would not return my calls. Insulation from the job blew out of ducts in our living area – not great for COPD patients. On the plus side: Unit works fine. Salesperson has a great personality.

"Thanks for taking the time to write this review. To clarify, The person whom you spoke with advised you that Angie's list members get 10% off of any quoted repair. The technician advised you of the repair cost and the repair was declined so he collected the diagnostic charge and he advised should you decide to have us replace the equipment that we would credit the diagnostic fee paid towards that purchase. The day of the installation they should have collected the agreed amount less the diagnostic fee. Since this did not happen we did issue a refund check and we show that refund to have been received."

"Mama, your system was installed on 3/15/15 and you called us to return on 12/18/15 and the unit was off on a code #16 which said the system safety float switch was active and shutting down the system. since when we arrived there was no signs of water in the line and we did not find any installation mistake or a manufacture failed part. The tech reset the system and checked the operation and did charge you for the service call and labor. On 12/31/15 we returned to find the system was off on the same code and at this time there was still water in the line and the tech was able to determine the drain line was slow to drain and causing the system to shut down intermittently. We did not charge you a trip fee or for the techs labor because we had just done so 13 days prior. When we installed your new system we only connected to the existing drain line. we did not install a new drain line. after 9 months of the new system operating the line started backing up. This is quiet normal and is considered a maintenance type of problem. The tech out on the 31st did explain this and we did follow up by sending you an offer to preform maintenance services for you once every six months. Please feel free to call us if you have any further questions or concerns and I will try to explain again better."

I had a problem with Aloha from the start.  I called them on Dec. 23rd and spoke to a Jeffrey.  I told him the problem and he booked me for a service call the next day from 2 to 4 PM with a service person named Joey.  On the next day the 2 to 4 time period came and went and no Joey. I called them and I think I spoke to Jared.  He said there was no record of a service call.  I found this unbelievable.  This time they sent a guy that same day, which I respected because it was Christmas Eve and it would be hard to get anyone to come.  A guy named Eli came on time and looked at the equipment.  He said this was only a maintenance call and not s service call and set me up with this maintenance and a free one in 6 months for $150.  I had not called them through Angie's List even though I am a member. The only problem with all this is what I wrote above. The cooling system was no longer working properly after he left.
