The bathroom is gorgeous. The whole process was okay. They did the best they could. It was more the city permitting that held things up. Before they even start, they spend a whole day just preparing your home for construction, covering stairs, carpet, doors, etc. It was amazing. When they leave, everything is clean. They even hired a cleaning service to come out and clean up behind them.

We were remodeling our kitchen and didn't want to have to find a contractor, thought we could "one stop shop". I liked the kitchen designer very much and we eventually used most of her design, but we did not like their practices. We were charged 10% of the projected "cost" of the project for the design which we could keep even if we eventually bid the job out. The cost of the design was $3000, which we paid. Once it was done, they submitted a "proposal" to us for almost $80,000! When we protested that $3000 was ten percent of THIRTY THOUSAND, they quickly backtracked and said it was 10% of the cabinetry. That was NEVER made clear to us. Very misleading practices, which left a very bad taste in our mouths. We ended up bidding the job out and it was done (by Emery Woodcraft) at a far more reasonable rate with much more input from us. Allied has preconcieved notions of what you want and push in that direction. I would not advise anyone to go to them.

They were too arrogant, not very willing to work with my needs, wanted us to use their materials, and I knew I didn't want to bother with them.
Response from Allied Kitchen & Bath

"In our customary follow up with clients we called in December , months after this report was filed and the client appreciated our continued interest in their business and we asked that he let us know if there was anything we could do for him. The client did mention that they ended up going with another contractor and the project turned out to be a lot more involved than they had anticipated. When you hire a professional kitchen and bath design firm it's because you want help in creating your dream project and are advised how to stay within a budget . When a homeowner wants to use or reuse their own materials we do not give them a warranty or a guarantee as we have no control over if their material has product approval or is of quality and will function as intended. The money saved by reusing or providing your own material is lost on it's first service call. Than you not only may have the expense of replacing the faulty product but also the expense of removing and reinstalling the new. Also need to consider the downtime for the space during the replacement or repairs necessary. Allied Kitchen and Bath is a licensed, insured general contracting firm , in our 26th year in the same location in Ft. Lauderdale . We believe in our workmanship, exceeding customers expectations, and warranty everything you buy from us 100% . We do not use other parts from outside suppliers other than our own. This is our practice and we believe in serving our clients with the finest products and stand . If you are looking to do a remodel project , we invite you not only to our showroom, but to speak to our clients, and visit our jobs."

"Allied prides itself on excellent customer service. It all starts with the first call. Unlike many other firms in South Florida, we like to invite our clients into our showroom to meet our family first. Unfortunately, this potential client was not interested in meeting us, but only interested in getting pricing ideas from our designers. Her first comment to me that she already had estimates that were very high, so she only wanted to see what our price was. Not only did we invite her into our showroom for a free consultation, but we also offered to go to her home for a personal visit anyway, since we were already working at a nearby neighbors home. Keep in mind, she lived in Coconut Grove and we are located in Fort Lauderdale, but we offered to go anyway. Our first contact was on July 6th, 2009, and we made an appointment to visit her at her home on Monday, July 13th. During this time, we also asked her to come visit with us and tour our showroom, which she declined. When it came time for the appointment, this client called and canceled with us. We unsuccessfully tried to reschedule a visit to her home three more times, and not once did she even return our calls. This complaint was the first communication we heard since our initial call. Every communication between our firm and a client is logged on our computers so we are all clear of our follow up. We know the importance of customer communication, and we make every effort to accommodate a client and their schedule. As you can see from our ratings of consumers that have used our services, we ourselves are sticklers for perfection and excellent service. For a consumer to complain even before they have met us or even used our services, tells us that they just might be someone that no one could ever satisfy. As the owner of Allied Kitchen & Bath I am always available to speak to anyone at anytime. All one has to do is call and we are always there. Thank you, Bill Feinberg, President."

Rob came to our house - took measurements - suggested several options - and gave us a quote. The quote was a little higher than another contractor, but we were impressed with Rob's professionalism and the reputation of the company. We had a subcontract install the cabinets, but we had Rob's granite fabricator install the granite and sinks. We also ordered our sinks and faucet through Allied Kitchen and Bath.

Had a schedule and kept to it. Workers were polite, knowledgeable and on several occasions stayed late to complete a task. In all phases of the work the workers made extra efforts to keep the area clean, including vacuuming and mopping when necessary. The project manager (Jim) made repeated calls and on site visits to ensure work was completed and on schedule. Upon meeting with the designer (Ann Morris) at the start of the project, she listened very carefully to what we had to say and gave alternative suggestions to help with the flow and the layout of the kitchen to the dining room and the living room. Ms. Morris was wonderful to work with as was all the workers. Ms. Morris took the time to go with me to help me pick out the right granite for my kitchen and added little extras to the cabinetry that I wouldn't have thought of (i.e. hidden slide-out garbage closet, lazy Susan in the corner cabinet). Everyone at Allied Kitchen and Bath made sure my messages would get to the right person, and my phone calls were responded to in a timely manner.

I went into the showroom 2 weeks ago. Ann (?) the "decorator" was condescending and ignorant, and in addition, didn't listen to what I was looking for and showed me samples that didn't match my request. I then filled in a form for an estimator to contact me, haven't heard from anyone since.

"THIS IS THE FIRST WE HAVE SEEN OF THIS NEGATIVE REPORT. I CAN ONLY ASSUME THIS WAS DURING THE TIME WE WERE JUST OPENING OUR NEWLY BUILT SHOWROOM. EITHER WAY, THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR ANY CLIENT TO FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE WHEN THEY VISIT WITH US. UNFORTUNATELY, NOT EVERYONE UNDERSTANDS THE COMPLETE REMODELING PROCESS AND ONLY WANT A QUICK ESTIMATE. UNLIKE OTHER COMPANIES, WE DO NOT JUST GIVE A QUICK ESTIMATE FOR THE PURPOSE OF TELLING THEM WHAT MIGHT NOT BE THE BEST ADVICE. ESPECIALLY IF IT IS NOT CLEAR WHAT THE CLIENT ACTUALLY WANTS OR NEEDS. MANY TIMES, THEY ARE NOT EVEN SURE THEMSELVES, SO WE TRY TO EDUCATE THEM FIRST, AND GUIDE THEM IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. WE HAVE MANY DIFFERENT PEOPLE THAT WORK HERE IN OUR SHOWROOM, AND NOT EVERYONE GETS ALONG WITH THE PERSON THEY MEET. EVERY PROJECT BEGINS WITH A RELATIONSHIP. THAT IS HOW OUR BUSINESS AND REPUTATION HAVE BEEN BUILT. RARELY IS IT BASED ON PRICE ALONE. WE WOULD APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY TO INVITE THE MEMBER BACK INTO OUR SHOWROOM AND MEET WITH EITHER ONE OF THE OWNERS OR EVEN A DIFFERENT DESIGNER. WE ALWAYS VALUE AND RESPECT EVERY CLIENT, AND ONLY ASK FOR AN OPPORTUNITY TO ASSIST THEM WITH THEIR REMODELING NEEDS,. WHETHER IT’S A 50 CENT KNOB, OR A 50 THOUSAND DOLLAR REMODEL, WE TREAT AND CARE ABOUT ALL OUR CLIENTS. WE WORK EVERY DAY TO EARN THEIR TRUST. WE OFFER A PERSONALIZED SHOPPING EXPERIENCE AND REGRET THAT THE ENCOUNTER WITH OUR DESIGNER DID NOT GO AS PLANNED. WE ARE WILLING TO OFFER THE CLIENT A 50 DOLLAR GIFT CERTIFICATE FOR USE AT ALLIED KITCHEN AND BATH OR DECORATIVE HARDWARE, TO COME BACK IN AND FEEL OUR WARMTH AND SINCERITY AND HELP THEM WITH THEIR HOME PROJECT. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CALL BILL FEINBERG, THE PRESIDENT , SO HE CAN EXPECT YOUR VISIT AND LOOK FORWARD TO WELCOMING YOU BACK INTO OUR NEW SHOWROOM. We actually began with them six months before the project started but due to some personal issues, we had to delay the start. They were very patient and understanding. While in some instances I feel that more attention could have been paid to assisting us in picking out some of the accessories, we do feel that the quality of the work was excellent and their workers and subcontractors were great, especially the tile man who was a perfectionist! They are not inexpensive but we knew that ahead of time having done some research. They worked very hard to stay within our budget because we knew that the additional accessories would add up.

He worked within our schedule, called and was on time. He made it look so easy but I know it was not. He was competitively priced and I would recommend his fine work to anyone needing tile work.

While the entire process took a long time (six months - I could have built a house!) they did a superb job and it was a real pleasure working with my project manager. He oversaw the entire project and dealt directly with the subcontractors, all of whom were reliable and professional. All I had to do was pick out what I wanted. He took total control of the quality of work. I am very pleased with the result. While the cost is high, to me it was well worth the investment to have the peace of mind of a qualified professional managing the project and assuring top quality work.
