INDIAN RIVER ANIMAL CLINIC

We have been with clinic for 40 years, with Dr Vanis Been with new Dr since they took over last fall. Roxie was 18 and had heart trouble. I had trouble obtaining medications for her through them. I had to research online and order small pills for daily use in rox,s medication. I had talked with clinic about the time when rox would have be put down ahead of time. The other day when rox was in heart failure they turned us away. Told us they were to busy to end her suffering We needed an appointment for critical care a few months ago and was told there was no openings for three days. But could come in and wait. We did an initial visit to establish our 2 cats in the practice, had their claws trimmed, and learned about care and treatments that are specific to central Florida.  Based on that advice, we began to use a flea/tick medication.  Our cats do not go beyond a screened lanai, but this was good advice.  We chose this practice based on an Angie's list recommendation and are very pleased.  It is a single veterinarian office and Dr. Vanis and his staff are very kind and professional.
While we were waiting, a family came in with a pet that had to be put to sleep.  The staff worked with them in such a compassionate manner, and we are confident that when we have to make that decision for our older pets, that we can anticipate the same.
The cost that I stated may seem high, but take into account that we purchased 6 months of flea/tick medication to two cats.  I thought that the office visit price was very reasonable.

The office staff is friendly and professional. Very competent. Dr Vanis is wonderful. He is very experienced, very gentle and caring with the animals. He explains everything to you in easy to understand terms. He was referred to us when we moved to the area about a year and a half ago. We tried another practice initially, but found it to be very expensive. Dr Vanis' fees are reasonable. We have an appointment later this week for labs.

I've been taking my cat here for the past 3 years after having a bad experience at another Vet's.Dr Vanis and his staff are very good with her. They do a very through examination and if you tellthem there is a problem they take the time to check it out. They are very gentle as my cat is afraidof everyone. They know how to handle her. I have never been disapointed with them.

It is right down the road from where I live and that is why I take her there. I like them. He is very good and they are really good with my cat. My cat is scared of everybody and she is not scared of them. They are very gentle and very professional. I call and tell them it is time for my cat to come in and they set an appointment right then and there. They let me choice if I want morning or afternoon, whichever is more convenient for me.
