Was very pleased to have Florida Impact Windows provide and install Impact windows and doors at my home. Their installation crew was very knowledgeable and professional. They had my windows and sliding glass doors installed in no time, and left my house looking as more beautiful than when they arrived. I would definitely recommend my neighbors to get theirs done.

I needed to replace some sliding glass doors and a few windows and of course called around I got a ton of quotes. Florida Impact was easy to work with and their price was so much better than everyone else. They answered all my questions and did not try to sell me on things that I did not need. The Oder was placed and there was an issue with the manufacture which is beyond their control but they continued to keep me updated. They were so professional, their installation team was clean and friendly. The owner even came onsite throughout the project just to check in on the process which shows he cares. My house was not destroyed in the process which is always a worry I have! Highly recommend!

Very communicative and descriptive of my concerns. Scott gave me different options and didn’t try to steer me towards the more costly products like I’ve had contractors prior to him do. Scott was very accommodating and listened to my concerns. He gave me options for my layout and configuration, as well as recommendations for the direction I’d like my sliding doors to open and colors. I would recommend him to others in need of impact windows and doors.

We contracted a full windows & doors replacement in Oct/Nov. 2019 with installation performed during the week of May 4th, 2020. Our experience with this company had been very positive up to this point. The installation went well for the most, although the installers were not careful enough with the alarm wires of one of the 2nd-floor windows, left them buried in the walls. Our biggest issue though has been with regards to completing the city's inspection process still pending after 14 weeks of work completion. There are still trims pending installation on the French doors & on some windows, which can't be done until inspection is completed. There was one attempt to get the city inspection, but the company failed to produce required paperwork & pictures and the inspector refused to proceed. Since then, we have made multiple contacts with the company and the reason they are giving us for the significant delay is covid-19 related. Granted, we are all going through tough times with the pandemic, but it looks like the company would be prioritizing new installations over finalizing open cases. Considering the overall context, we would recommend anyone considering a similar project to retain the final payment until the city inspection is completed, as the company is responsible for that part of the project as well. Overall, I would have rated this company a lot higher, but not with this frustrating experience.

Don't use this company. Zero follow up from the office. Missed deadlines repeatedly and zero communication about when work was going to get finished. We are still waiting for a sliding glass door to be replaced which was defective from PGT. They have no interest in helping get this problem resolved since it is a manufacture issue. I have neighbors all over the subdivision getting impact windows installed and I refuse to recommend this company to them. One positive note was the installers were very professional. I think they were subcontracted from Florida Impact since they don't have their own crew.

Florida Impact has completed all work in a satisfactory manor. The delays were directly from the manufacturer that shipped wrong and defective products. As soon as those products were sent from the supplier they were installed. Replacement of products takes up to 6 weeks at times depending on how backed up the manufacturer is. In this case there were more than one manufacturer that shipped products that had to be returned due to being wrong or defective. When the job takes at least 2-4 weeks for permits and 6 weeks to receive materials and then products have to be returned once we do receive them then that causes a delay. We cant expect everyone to understand the time it takes and the process of doing so but Florida Impact always completes the work once the correct parts are delivered.

Buyer Beware! We chose this company as they do both custom work (modifying of existing openings) and installation of impact windows. They advertise "25% off Select Window & Door Products." When asked, however, they're conveniently "out of those." They advertise "Installed in Just 4 Weeks!" We signed our contract in Oct, 2017. They finished in May, 2018. Custom or not that's ridiculous. The advertise, "No Sub-Contractors." The entire job was done by subcontractors. At the end of the process, we realized that we had been significantly overcharged for a couple of old window openings that were to be closed up. Material and labor should have been no more than a couple of thousand and we were charged nearly $5,000. Our bad for signing the contract but any decent business person should have corrected. Anytime we contacted the office for information, there was literally days delay. Seems no one except the owner, who's never available, can make a decision without checking with him first. BE CAREFUL WHEN USING THIS COMPANY!!!

About 10 years ago I spent a considerable amount of money replacing all of my home's windows with PGT impact windows. The order was promised to be completed at a certain date; it was not. Contractor blamed delay on suppler, which was an acceptable excuse. Installation took place approximately two weeks later. All windows and sliders were to be properly sealed. They were not. It took several calls to the business to have someone come out and do the final caulking. It was done after two to three weeks and after the inside of my living room was flooded. Wood floors sustained damage. Contractor refused to compensate for the damage. Forward 10 years. The same slider is leaking. I called the contractor and was told they don't do repair sealing and instead referred me to another individual who never returned my repeated calls. Summary: the product was acceptable but the workmanship was not. Obviously Joe Roth Glass does not stand by his workmanship or he would have sent someone to re_caulk the same slider that is leaking. The rating of two stars signifies his initial lack of initiative to caulk the first time and not take responsibility for the workmanship done. While this business has been in Boca for years, do not expext immediate response or standing by their workmanship. Ten years later, the same situation. Be prepared to have your windows repaired/replaced at least every 10 years.

Call back was rather fast however company would not provide even basic costs and suggested they needed rough measurements. Doors and windows all common sizes and provided in advance to avoid heavy sales pressure and forced sale tactics commonly used in this industry. Company would NOT commit to estimate and would rather turn away business. Their loss is another companies gain.
Description of Work
Looking to have several sliding doors replaced and a window. Provided all sizes in email to company and requested free estimate. Willing to pay cash for items with install and simply requested a ballpark figure before sitting down formally to contract.

Service Provider Response

Our company does not take measurements over the phone. For an individual to go on somebody's website and post a negative review because they were told this and they don't like a company's policy then they should just call somebody else instead of wasting time posting a negative review for a company that they never hired. All companies have policies and procedures. Yes our company does need an exact size to get a price and we don't give ballpark prices. There is no such thing. This person obviously has no idea about doors and windows suggesting that they come in common sizes. No they do not. This person should at the very least cooperate with what a company needs to give the a price and not waist everyone's time with nonsense. This persons review doesn't even have proper English or complete sentences.

They were wonderful, it is never an easy experience when dealing with the city and permitting is involved...Scott's team made it as smooth as possible and when there were delays they let us know so could avoid frustration. The company requires 50% payment upfront and an additional 40% the moment they show up to start your job. However, they do not feel they are required to hold themselves to the time frame they gave for the job to be completed. They told us the the permit would take approximately 2 weeks, ordering the windows would take approximately 4-5 weeks, job would be done within 6-8 weeks and installation would only take 3 consecutive days. They took five months after receiving our money to do the job. In my opinion I believe they sent sub contractors because the sub contractors were wearing the shirts of the company they worked for. The owner Scott denied this and stated they were indeed employees of Florida Impact Windows & Doors. They also tried to charge me $900 extra beyond what our contracted stated because they removed a lot of stucco from the outside of our house. They contractors who were working here got into an argument about what they were getting paid, didn't want to finish the job and stormed off the work site. The owner even yelled at me stating he should have known I would be a problem from the beginning because I was hesitant to pay him the 90% upfront. Every step of the way when there was a delay or something went wrong the company failed to communicate that to us. A major communication issue was with this company and the window manufacturer. Several times they would schedule to install the windows when they had not even been delivered. Every step of this experience was painful.

This customer refused to pay on more than one occasion which was stated clearly when to pay on the contract. This customer chose to sign a contract and then not abide by the terms of that contract and then 6 months later posts on angies list complaining about the terms of the contract when they were fully aware of the terms of the contract before signing. This customer thought that material worth thousands of dollars was going to be delivered and installed to their house without them paying any money whatsoever even though she signed a contract stating exactly when to pay and what to pay. On three separate occasions our company had arrived to do work and on all three occasions the customer refused to pay any money. Our company had to literally tell the customer if they keep refusing to pay per the terms of their contract when Florida impact shows up to finish their job, then Florida impact will not be coming out again and they can let a Judge decide to demand times to arrive to do work. This customer was extremely impossible to do any work for and was refusing to pay any money during the whole process. Our company sends out installers that have been working for the company for over 10 years and then the customer makes allegations that our own installers are subcontractors which is completely preposterous. This customer also refused to pay for the required stucco work that was needed on their job and has still not paid Florida impact for this work. Also during the entire process the customer made it extremely difficult to finish their job telling Florida impact that they have to show up at a specific time which was not even a normal time to start work and only work for a small period of time when that was not enough time to finish the job. This job kept getting delayed due to the customers schedule being impossible to work around and the customer refusing to pay every time Florida impact showed up. In regards to waiting on permits, the customer should call their municipality and ask why it takes so long to receive an approved permit because Florida impact can only submit a permit and wait for them to approve. The city is a government agency that is a third party that Florida impact has no control over how long a permit takes to get approved. Florida impact orders materials only after they have received an approved permit from the city. If the materials took longer from the manufacturer then Florida impact can only wait for those materials to arrive before starting work. Florida impact would never do work for this customer again as they were impossible to do any work for and refused to pay on multiple occasions per the terms of their contract that they signed.

The estimate for turnaround time was 6 weeks. It has been over 10, and not only are our window and door not replaced but the company has never contacted us with an update. We have had to call them repeatedly to get any information. At this time, our door and window have not been replaced. We also don't have status to know when they might be. Perhaps we will be happy with the quality of the door/window when they are replaced. Still, we cannot recommend this company. You would have the time to chase them down at every step of the process. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We decided to boost the rating from C to B because we are happy with the quality of the door and window and because the company's responsive improved.

Florida Impact is right on schedule with everything that they are responsible for to expedite the process. Florida Impact was able to get this customers permit approved in only 7 business days after the contract signing. Florida Impact ordered materials on the same day of permit approval which was 6/12/17. Florida Impact has been waiting on the materials ever since that date and cannot do anything at this time to make this job move any faster than it is already moving. It is standard practice that customers wait for materials to be made which cannot be controlled by Florida Impact. Most manufacturers are a little behind on their production schedule during this busy hurricane season which has been told to this client. No customer has to chase our company down to get updates. Our company is waiting on materials so there is no update which has already been told to this client. When our company gets the materials, our company will start the job as soon as our next installer is available. Material must be received and checked for no damages, missing parts, or any other issues prior to scheduling any installation which is standard company procedure. Customers are not contacted until Florida Impact has all materials and ready to put them on the schedule for a definite installation date. Every window company operates the same way. This is the same thing that has been told to the client. Again there is nothing at all that Florida Impact has done to affect this customers wait time of getting their job installed. Also, there is no update that Florida Impact can give when the supplier has not relayed any information to Florida Impact to update the client. Florida Impact will contact this customer when they actually have the product in their possession to install, and an available installer to install the job.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Impact doors have not been able to pass inspection! Keep asking for more $$: have spent an additional 10,000 then the original quoted price of 18,000. Sales guy Scott did not do his du-diligence, left out a lot of important details in the sale- they cut holes in my ceiling, did not install the windows with the proper screws, and needed lights installed over the locations of the doors which was never discussed in the sales process and cost me more $$. Absolutely horrible and they take advantage! Should not be allowed to do business, been a whole year since paperwork was signed and doors are still not completed. Absolute nightmare and stressful experience.

We love to invite new customers to read complaints made by people who want to blame the very same company that is trying to help them because they have no one else to blame and do not understand anything that has taken place with their job. This person who is not even our direct customer says: Do not use this company which is very easy to say, instead of actually knowing any factual data concerning this job or with having any knowledge of construction. We do not have this customer in our database for nether a quote or contract, in addition this person has listed their personal address as our showroom address which is obviously wrong. This person making the complaint is not even the person under contract and is a family member of the person who actually doing the job with our company. The person who has made this complaint likes to accuse the company their family member hired for the building department's multiple mistakes which has costed their family member more money. Of course any customer can easily go online and make a company sound like the worst company in the world. That is fine if the company deserves it. The actual customer has had problems with their final inspection for 2 reasons. A building department that has made multiple mistakes on plan review, and a Florida room that was changed from its original permit design without a permit after their inspection in 1975 and prior to us doing work in that room. The room was permitted as a sunroom in 1975 which does not require much of anything. After the room was inspected many years ago, someone converted the room to habitable space with non-pressure treated lumber, no electrical outlets, no plans submitted, no inspections, etc. Florida impact had to deal with all of these issues from 1975 because of now putting impact doors and windows on a room that was never permitted to be used as habitable space. The family member says: did not do his du-diligence, left out a lot of important details in the sale. Nice cover up by the customer but no one is buying it. Florida impact does not know the history of someone's home and it is impossible to know what each building department will require when it involves permitting a room that was built without a permit. Our company is a window company. WE ARE NOT A COMPANY TO FIX YOUR EXISTING NON PERMITTED BUILDING PROBLEMS. WE INSTALL WINDOWS. WE DONT BUILD HOMES, DO ELECTRICAL, OR OTHER MAJOR CONSTRUCTION. The customer is the one that left out the important details not explaining that to the company they hired. Florida Impact has helped this customer in a major way due to the room never being permitted properly from the beginning. Because this room was built without a permit, Florida impact walked into a terrible situation of having to get special engineering for walls built from 20 years ago without pressure treated lumber, hire an electrician to wire the entire area with switches, outlets, fixtures, bring other areas up to electrical code, create an entire as built set of plans with an architect and much more. All of items which we normally do not do as a window company but did it as a courtesy so the homeowner would not have to go find other companies to deal with these existing problems. Yes there was a charge for each item that needed to be addressed because no company does work for free. The customer had to freedom to hire anyone else to fix this non permitted mess but wanted us to deal with it so we did. The existing conditions of the customer's home not being built to code is not the responsibility of the company they hire to do a totally different job. We do not evaluate if your existing electrical work or existing walls are up to code as there is no way to give that evaluation years after the work is done and completely covered with stucco and drywall. WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS INSIDE OF WALLS WITHOUT XRAY TECHNOLOGY. Not even the city keep accurate records on this. When customers get upset and they don't understand construction they blame the easiest people to blame even when they are not at fault. In this case that was our company BLAMED FOR NO REASON WHEN ALL WE DID WAS HELP IN A MAJOR WAY. They should be blaming the person who made their Florida room habitable space without a permit and the building department for coming up with new reasons on each and every visit to fail an inspection that was never mentioned on any prior inspections or plan reviews. Florida Impact can only correct what is told by the building department. If it is not mentioned or required on a prior inspection then there is no way to know that it will be required on the next inspection even with a license as a general contractor or a certified engineer or anything listed in the building code book. All municipalities are allowed to go beyond the requirements of the building code book as they deem necessary which no company or individual can determine what will be required. If this customer needed a builder, they should have hired a builder and not expect a window company to fix all of their problems. The claims from this person are of no value or knowledge blaming us of something bad of cutting holes in the ceiling. Yes we cut a hole to do an exploratory examination of how the roof was built which is what any engineer requires. This person acts like none of this was explained when the building department rejected the permit the first time for putting windows into a non permitted structure. I would like to hear exactly what this customer would have done to complete an entire cadd program without knowing where any structural components were inside of a flat roof with no access holes to anything. Claims of wrong screws? Ridiculous. They should get more familiar with what is really going on instead of making false claims. 14 years in business and we don't know what screws to use? What we have done on this job the person making this complaint will never be able to ever grasp the complexity and engineering that was needed to be done to do this job the correct way and fix all existing issues.
