I was in the middle of a kitchen renovation and noticed a leak in the ceiling above the fireplace. I asked around and everyone recommended Joe so I called and explained the issue. He was out the next day and found I had a leak in the cap and the stucco. He fixed the stucco and covered the chimney with a tarp. This helped me continue with my renovation, My cap was no longer made so he had a custom cap made. He finished all the repairs promptly and for less than expected. I would use him again and recommend him to my friends.

All went well. Joe came out to measure and assess the damage. He has a company that builds the caps. He kept me informed of timing and made sure it was reinstalled properly. He took the paint with him so he could paint before it was installed. It looks great.

The replacement went fairly well. Joe arrived for our initial appointment at the agreed upon time. He tried to restore the original pieces of the flue that blew off during Hurricane Irma. He succeeded with the first piece but the other 3 were too badly damaged and had to be replaced. The cost was high but acceptable. (He warned me those flues were very expensive.) Once the new pieces arrived, he came out to place them on the roof. Unfortunately, the second replacement piece was too heavy for him to lift onto the first replacement piece. The third replacement piece was the cap. He was able to put that onto the first replacement piece. The flue is now three feel shorter than it was before. I agreed to accept that because I never use the fireplace. Joe took back the piece he was unable to set and refused to accept any additional money. My only suggestion is that when dealing with a situation like mine, Joe might consider bringing a helper.

"This customer was never charged for an inspection because I had previously missed an appointment with them and I went to there house for free. I made an examination and they wanted the job, still no cost. It is difficult for me to make any money in this business without having several jobs in the same area, especially when I live in Davie and the customer lives deep in the heart of Miami. I gave the customer what I thought was the solution to their problem, an estimate, and after that I had a death in the family. When I got around to checking my voice mails, this particular, potential client, had filled my voice mail more than any other. I was angry and didn't want to call them. This was a job that any handyman could do, and was explained to the owner of the property while he was on the roof with me. Again, I did not get a penny from this customer."

I need to get a chimney inspection for insurance purposes. It needs to be done this week or I risk my insurance not being valid. I have talked to Joe for the past 2 weeks trying to set up an appointment. He said he would come today, but would not give me a time. He said he would call me today to confirm the time. He called today and said he couldn't do it today or tomorrow, maybe Wednesday. Again, like several times before, he said he was driving and would not give me a time, and since he was supposed to come today and didn't, and cant even come tomorrow instead, and wont give me a particular time for Wednesday, and had been handling this the same way for a few weeks, I feel like he is waisting my time. I wish Angies list had another chimney specialist/inspector but he seems to be the only one in my area. I guess I would still use him, but only because I cant find anyone else to call with this specialty. 

In the end he did finally make an appointment. I thought it had been made for 10:30 am, and waited there for 2.5 hours calling and texting him. He called back at 1:15, and said he was there and that he had made the appointment for 2:00pm and just got my messages.  Maybe it was my mistake thinking we had said 10:00-10:30, but I was pretty certain he had said that. He may be a great chimney guy - but I'd like to see him improve communication.

I too would like to freely admit I might be in the wrong. I payed the price [Member name removed]. I drove to your property, a significant distance from my last stop for nothing.
