Obtained bid from Art to fix a cracked PVC pipe - near water main. Their bid was nearly $600 - as they do fixed bid. I went to home depot, bought <$10 worth of parts, and fixed the pipe in a couple hours - including time to obtain parts. I have used Art in the past for AC work but I will never use them again due to this unreasonable bid.

The drain line on my A/C was clogged.  The technician from Art said the drain line could not be unclogged and recommended the installation of a new drain line at a cost of $1,300.  I found another A/C service provider on Angie's list that was able to completely unclog the drain at a cost of $95.00.

The service was fine and they were professional, but I felt the job was way overpriced....it was $350 just for the labor for a about an hour.

This was aggravating and disappointing from beginning to end. I saw a commercial for this company on TV. New to this area, I thought I would give them a try. We did not have an emergency. We just wanted new valves put on before installing new sinks. We were replacing the vanities in two bathrooms and we had already removed the old vanities so the work areas were completely clear, no crawling under cabinets to get to the job. The shut-off valves were probably 50 years old and were either leaking or had broken handles or both. I called the company and made an appointment. I was told there was a fee for an estimate but it would be rolled into the price of the work if we chose to have it done. I am wary of any company who charges for an estimate. The appointment window came and went without anyone showing up nor was there a call from the company. I called and was given an half-hearted apology and rescheduled for the next day. When the technician, Michael, arrived the next day, I showed him the work I wanted done. I expected to spend anywhere from $250-$300 for what I thought would be a fairly simple job of removing the old valves and putting on 4 new ones. Michael looked at the two bathrooms and then told me he would go to his truck and write up the estimate. He sat in his truck for about 15 minutes, which seemed a ridiculous amount of time to write an estimate for the work to be done. When he came back in he launched into a sales pitch for a $4000 water filtration system I neither wanted nor needed. It was a high-pressure sales pitch and every time I tried to say I was not interested, he would just continue going through the options. There was a $4051 option, a $3025 option, a $2284 option and a $1217 (all included the replacement of the 4 valves). When I finally got him to understand I just wanted an estimate for the 4 valves I was told it would be $700. I was shocked. I asked how long the work would take and he said about an hour. I thought $700 for an hour's work and a few inexpensive valves was ridiculous. His justification was that they were a premium company and usually provided emergency work. I explained how nobody showed up for the first appointment and nobody called. I said I thought it was offensive to be asked to pay $39.95 to hear his unsolicited sales pitch and receive an outrageous estimate and asked him to leave. He would not leave unless I signed for the credit card charge. I told him I would sign but I was going to call the company and ask for my money back. I called the company and asked to speak to the owner or manager. I was told he was "off today" and they would not tell me his name nor would they tell him to call me back. I was told to call again tomorrow. I called the next day and was told this time I would need to speak to "Art" but he wasn't in. I called several more times trying to speak to Art to no avail. I tried to dispute the charge but my credit card company allowed it to stand because I signed the credit card slip. I figure, at this point, the $39.95 I spent allows me to tell my story and warn everybody else to stay away from this company unless you are in the market for a $4000 water filtration system. I did find another plumber who was polite, prompt, didn't try to sell me anything I didn't want and did the work for $270. He agreed that $700 was an outrageous amount for the job.

In response to a report submitted in August 2011, Art Plumbing and Air Conditioning called us to apologize for the bad impression they made and stated they would like to see us try their services again in the future. We do appreciate them taking the time to follow up and will consider calling this company in the future.

I called Art Plumbing and they came within a few hours.  The technician took one look at the heater and gave me a quote for installing a new heater.  It was much higher than I had anticipated so I declined the offer.

Art Plumbing are very pleasant to deal with and if price in no issue, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.   I suggest asking for an idea of the price they will charge for your job over the phone so you can make a decision.
Response from Art Plumbing & Air Conditioning LLC

"we are sorry that we did not meet your expectations. We strive to have every client a raving fan. We will gladly refund your $39.95 if that what it would take for us to make you happy, please let us know."

An appointment was made at 10am for an A/C estimate/repair to be done the same day. We were told someone would arrive between 330 and 5pm and they would call 30 min prior to say they were on their way. At 430 pm we had not heard anything and when we called the company they stated they had no record of our appointment and wasted 20 minutes more of our time on the phone trying to find any of our information in their system. We asked if they could still come out, since we were on a tight timeline to get the A/C unit fixed, and they said someone would be there between 5pm and 630pm. At 6pm with no repair man in site we again called and the same secretary told us the repair man was still at another job and would not be done until 8pm. When we asked why they did not at least call us we received the same excuse that our information got mixed up in their system. Suffice it to say we went with another A/C company. It is too bad we cannot get back the wasted time and money we spent.

I found them from a commercial I heard on the radio. They were prompt, courteous, and they diagnosed the problem. Also they found another problem that I wasn't even aware of. They corrected both issues. They ordered a part and came back the next day to put it in. I was very pleased with them. Their prices are comparable to others.

They are family owned. They have a small pool of technicians so you tend to see the same technicians each time they come out for service. They have well-outfitted trucks and are always prepared for each service. They are very responsive. For instance, we called back twice on one particular issue and we were immediately referred to the supervisor to come and check the issue out.

I initially called this company to get two hot water heaters inspected after we purchased a new home. I picked this company because they were local, and because they were also noted as Rheem hot water heater dealers on Rheem's web site. When the technician arrived, he sold me on a complete plumbing system inspection at an annual service agreement price. The inspection felt much more like a sales call than an inspection. I was not comfortable with how intensely the technician was selling specific and expensive ideas like a whole-house water filter system, and a whole-house water softener. The "sales pitch" feel of the inspection made it difficult for me to tell what I really needed. I must say, the inspection of the house's plumbing system was thorough. I made notes of everything that was brought up. On the spot, I agreed to the unplugging of three drains (two tubs and one sink). I was a bit surprised that each unplugging was to be charged at a flat rate of $99 per drain. The technician charged me "only $198" for all three drains, but that work still felt quite expensive. One of the things the technician also sold me on was a house drain video inspection. We scheduled it a few days later. That day came and the inspector did not arrive. I called the office and the girl there said it had not been scheduled by the first technician. They arranged for the inspection to take place the next day instead. That inspection was thorough and felt like a good value at $99. The inspector snaked a fiber-optic video camera in from the outside drain clean-out and was able to show me the condition of the drains all the way to the street sewer on the downstream side, and up to the house's different vertical pipes on the upstream side. This technician was not trying to sell me anything more. I trusted him more and was glad, as a new owner, that this inspection had been done. There were several action items that were noted on the first inspection. Four weeks later I haven't heard back from the original technician or the company. I have decided not to follow up with them because I was just not comfortable with the intensity of the sales pitch and because this company's flat-rate pricing system just seems too expensive to me. I would suggest that this company has very capable people. It's possible that my first technician was an exception, but I will keep looking for a plumbing company that has simple time-and-materials billing and that is more focused on doing the job they were hired to do than on selling other services and equipment.

I had had a great experience with their plumbing and fixed pricing for drain clog, because they quoted the price up front and stuck to it, and I even had them perform additional work because of it. Both their plumbing and their A/C service professionals also arrived same day. My complaint is the bait pricing for the A/C work and I will never use them again because of it. I can't speak for the quality of their technicians, which may be good, but I don't like the "bait" form of contracting. I asked ahead of time what I could expect in terms of pricing (even spoke to a manager to ask what the typical problems are and what they typically cost, and he was nice enough to give me a run down). Maybe I just didn't ask the right questions because they told me $29 for the service call and then when they got there, after taking a preliminary look, they told me they would have to open the unit and see and it would cost another $129 to diagnose it. I had thought that that the $29 was the diagnosis fee and then they would tell me how much it would cost to repair it, but apparently I am supposed to pay $158 before any repairs are even performed. This may be fair (after all the technician's time is worth something) but it is not fair to fail to disclose this to the consumer, especially when I went to the trouble to ask "up front" what I could expect. When I said this, he said (in response to my reaction) that he would credit back the diagnosis time to the repair costs (but of course, he wouldn't know until he looked what those repair costs would be). This was also after I was quoted some very unexpected prices for a filter, so by this time I was wary. I paid for the $29 site visit and asked him to not proceed.

They told me that there was a good chance of leak again and it has to be dealt with depending on how long it takes the Freon to leak out. They offered me a service plan for $89.99 in which if you renew the plan every year it goes down $10 a year so eventually if you keep it for 9 years you wind up having a free service plan. By signing up for that service plan I was able to get a 10% discount. In terms of cost I really don?t have much of a comparison as this is the only air conditioning company I have used till date although if the Freon leaks out I will be looking around for estimates from various companies. The service was good. They showed up exactly when they were supposed to. They were polite and cordial. We had used them after the hurricane when I had to have a new compressor installed on the roof of my condo unit. As far as I know they did a good job but if there is a leak in my air conditioning line up there then it wouldn?t be a good job. I am still curious about it. They are prompt and they responded on time. They are informative and explain things very well to you but in terms of quality of work I have to wait and see. I would use them again.

They came out and snaked the line with both the small and large snakes. When he hit resistance he said that he could not fix it at that time, but that they would have to come back the following day to do a camera inspection. The night I explained to him that I would not be there and I wanted to know if I should take the day off to be there. I told him that the only person who was going to be home was my mother in law and I asked him not to talk to her, but to instead call my husband's cell and explain everything. He said not to worry about taking the day off and that they would call my husband. They came out and did the inspection. Afterward's he explained all of the options and possibilities to my mother in law and gave her an estimate before he left. The estimate that he gave her was for repairing a four inch PVC fitting which was estimated at costing $1119.90 and changing out ten feet of four inch PVC sewer line which was estimated as costing $ 3156.64. I called my husband and he said that no one contacted him so he called and left a message. When I got home at five o clock that night I called the dispatcher and she said that he was out on a job and had been all day and that since he was on a job he did not have time to answer the phone. I asked her what I was supposed to do since I was without a toilet and I could not take a shower. She told me that they had left everything so that we could shower, etc... There was no sense of urgency with them at all. Not only had they not followed my instructions about talking with my husband instead of talking with my mother in law, but they never returned out phone calls. They called me a couple of days ago and told me that they have a whole list of phone problems. They were very unprofessional and I had no confidence in anything that they told me.

Very nice and professional. Did not pressure me to buy a new a/c , but since my a/c was over ten years old, kind of hard to rip me off. I Love walking into a house that will be cold (ie ac/d for the next several years.) I live in FL so ac is VERY important. I will definately use them next time something goes wrong. We had a water leak from upstairs bathroom to our living room. They came out the next day as promised. Everything was explained to me so my husband and I agree to the service. Fortunately, all of our pipes were in great condition, the leak is from the shower. My only critique is that the price was high, just tell us that and they left a hole in my downstairs ceiling so that he could have looked at the pipes. But, he was very informative and we would recommend this company as long as they explain the price does not cover if they do find any pipes that needs to replace!
