On December 30, 2018, my AC went out. The unit was only 5 years old. We were out of town so my daughter (adult) went to let the tech in. We arrived home on the 31st. Velocity convinced us to replace a new unit that was still under warranty. They said the evaporator coil was leaking and it would be several grand to find the leak & repair it. We financed a new system & it was installed on January 2, 2019. They assured me that the new AC would never leak because it was aluminum. I believed their sham. A couple days after the install, before it was inspected, it quit working. I called the office, they sent out Jason. Jason was messing with the unit, outside when he killed the power to our whole house. I go outside to see what happens & this guy is in his van, leaving! I tried to stop him. His response was “I don’t know anything about that” I called the office again, they were shocked like I was. I called the finance company who also called the office. They had someone come out & fix it. I was without power in my home for a few hours because of that tech. Then, inspection time came, they failed! The electrical was not to code. They had to come back out & correct the electrical & the emergency switch. Once it finally passed, it ran well. At the time, they said our ductwork was great, no issues. They even said they replaced one small section where a rodent had chewed it. Fast forward 2 years later... our AC stops working. I called velocity to come out. They sent a guy out the same day. His name was Foster. Let’s talk about how incompetent this tech of theirs is! He said the evaporator coil was bad, the condenser was damaged & my unit needed 30 pounds of coolant. I was livid! How did the exact problem occur in this new, state of the art unit that they assured me would never leak!? I asked for a supervisor. Foster said he couldn’t reach a manager on Sunday. I then said I would pay the $49 charge when the supervisor called me. This ***** says “I’ll just write you’re refusing to pay” I said “no, I’m not, I just want to speak to the supervisor, first!” Amazingly, he could suddenly reach him. I then spoke to James, the project manager. Ok, talk about a pompous, rude, a**, he insisted he would have someone here, first thing in the morning for a second opinion. I paid the $50 and waited for their tech on Monday. When it got to be after 11, I called the office. No one ever showed up. I spoke to Megan. I requested to be contacted by the owner, Bill Snyder as given to me as the owner on record by the attorney general. I never did receive a call from him but, Megan said she spoke to him & he was going to discount the repairs. She also arranged for their “master tech” to come out. Craig arrived to discover not one thing was wrong that Foster claimed. I had a bent duct. The duct was all bent up where it was attached to the AC. This was obviously not installed properly. He goes outside to call James. He also said he would have someone bring out a portable AC unit. Again, none of these promises ever happened. James called and said it looks like his tech made a mistake but, he can replace my ductwork for us. He called back saying the one duct was $900 to replace! The one they improperly installed to begin with... I told him Megan said the owner was giving me a discount. (Velocity did not install all the ductwork but did have to attach that main return to the AC when they installed it) He hung up to call Bill Snyder. James then calls back & says they will be here at 11AM to replace the duct. He will do it for $600. I agreed & thought it was handled. Tuesday morning, James calls AFTER they were already late, he says he cannot honor the promised price. I told him we had a deal. He said he can’t do it! I requested the owner to call me, AGAIN! It’s now been over an hour. No call from the owner, no call from the pompous manager, no one showed up to fix anything. I’m actually quite sure they replaced my 5 year old unit unnecessarily. I will never be able to prove it but, it was having the exact same issue, 2 years ago. Had they inspected the ductwork as they claim they did, I wouldn’t of replaced the unit. They also were paid to clean & sanitize all ductwork. If they cleaned it & sanitized it, they should of noticed it was not installed properly as they’re now claiming. I’m still waiting on a response. I would never recommend this company. Imagine, if I had just believed their tech and paid the $1500 quote to fix the parts he claimed were broken. I still would be out the money and still have no AC! They already wasted 5K on a new unit when the unit they replaced was only 5 years old! I also paid $50 for the WRONG diagnosis from an incompetent tech. Of course James, the manager is making excuses for him. He says “he’s had a rough time, lately & had some health problems” ok, fine, he should NOT be working if he cannot do his job, properly! James also stated he was notifying the manufacturer that we have improper airflow so it will void our warranty! Yeah, your incompetent techs installed it! It’s only bent where it connects to the unit! James says improper airflow was what caused our previous unit to burn out, prematurely. Well, if that’s the case, why didn’t you fix it 2 years ago? You said it was all fine! I feel like Velocity must really mean incompetent. They are not qualified to repair a dog house! On day 5 of no AC in the heat of the Florida summer, they finally send 2 guys out to replace the return duct to my 2 year old AC unit that THEY installed! These 2 guys were very professional. I don’t have any issues with them. I brought them inside then out to the unit. The one guy immediately noticed the drain pipe is wrong. He pulls it off, immediately. I then showed them where the crawl space access is to go under the house. They get their tools & proceed to replace the duct. I’m inside when I suddenly smell a strong sewage odor. I go outside to see what the issue is. They were sitting on the back of their truck. When I asked what the smell was, they stated “whoever installed the drain did it wrong.” Apparently the water from my AC unit had been backing up into the main return duct which caused the duct to deteriorate & collapse. The noise I was hearing was the inside of the duct, coming unattached from the outside. This caused it to block airflow & the unit froze up. They said that smell was a lot worse, under the house. I can only imagine, stagnant water, accumulating for 2 years... NASTY! This guy did call his supervisor and let him know. Of course he didn’t come out to look at anything. I paid the bill, and called the office. I told them I did not feel this was my responsibility to fix since it was them that did not install it properly. Also, no one verified cooling temps or that the system was hooked up properly, again. The second tech, Craig that came out stated Foster did not put it back together, properly. Well, he put stuff back but not completely. This was also obvious when the unit wouldn’t turn on. They had to turn the breakers back on. This just verified that nothing was tested or filled, prior to marking the job as completed. I was told we needed coolant, that wasn’t done. I was told I needed the coils cleaned, that wasn’t done... all I know is this entire mess was created and compounded due to Velocity AC & their negligence. Had they completed the job properly, 2 years ago, we would not be here now!
