Unless the phone order was a taken prior to the doors opening, it's literally impossible for that transaction to have been completed before we physically identified the furniture we wanted to buy. It only took a matter of seconds to walk from the front door to the dining room set in question. The man told us that we should have been informed that we could order over the phone. Neither of us had been. We have been in the store dozens of times, have bought furniture there in the past and have never been told that phone orders were accepted. This transaction has left a bad taste in our mouths. There's no intrinsic reason to favor a phone order over an in-person transaction. On the contrary, while I am surely biased, it seems to me that in the event of a tie, the live body in the store wins. The earliest the telephone purchaser could have made their intentions known would have been at the same time as we did, when the store opened.
Description of Work: We were waiting outside when the store opened today. The man who unlocked the door asked if he could help us, and my wife said "We're here to buy a dining room set." We walked straight to where it was in the store and my wife said "This is the one." The man turned and walked a few steps to the sales desk, then returned almost immediately to tell us that the dining room set had just been sold to someone on the phone. We protested that we were physically in the store, had arrived as early as possible and had stated our intention to buy as soon as we entered the store. He was indifferent to our concern and considered the phone order to take precedence over ours.

Our loveseat was picked up in May. It was beautifully displayed but ended up having 3 markdowns and was sold for $5 less than the pick up fee. I had to go in to find out what had happened and ended up owing them money. We have bought and sold many other items through this store and have always been happy with them. My only advice would be not to pay the $39.95 pick up fee unless you think the item will sell for enough to make it worthwhile. I would have been better off donating this for the tax write off.
Description of Work: Sold a loveseat for us.

A friend mentioned them because they were right by where I used to live. It was consignment. I would use them again.
Description of Work: I was looking for someone to sell my antique dining room with and I wound up with The Missing Piece in Clearwater. They charged $90 to pick up very, very heavy 3-piece dining room set and chairs, and repaired it and sold it for me, and sent me my checks.

Description of Work: I brought furniture to them to put on consignment. The staff was short and unfriendly and I felt like they couldn't bother to be nice. But when I bought a sofa from them they were very nice. I thought the delivery fee was ridiculously expensive though.

Per the instructions on their website, I emailed pictures and a brief descriptions of several items that I wanted to consign with them. The politely declined the sofa (too old) but agreed to accept two tables. I called to schedule a time to drop off the tables. They had several people to assist with unloading the items. The paperwork was completed and within a few days I received an email with a link showing the items for sale. I checked the link a few weeks later and noticed one of the table had sold and a check was being issued. I received the check a few days later. The entire process went smoothly and I would certainly consider contacting them again to consign additional items.

We have had made two purchases from this store. There was a misunderstanding with the first purchase, a bed, and when contacted the manager responded quickly and fairly. The second purchase went so smooth, a telephone purchase while we were out of town, I was amazed.. The staff cares about their customers and thus the customer service is outstanding.

We were excited to find this well displayed consignment store. We shopped in the store in South Tampa and worked with a great sales associate (Carol) who was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. However, I wished I had read the other reviews before I purchased anything. After receiving our sleeper, the fabric was obviously faded; however, it didn't look faded in the store. I guess due to their lighting. You also have to pick up your furniture immediately or pay $49.95 for storage regardless if it's a week or a month. Just be careful. Don't be fooled by the store's ambience and the way things are staged. Look everything over carefully because if you buy it, it's yours even if you don't have it delivered. You are not going to get a good price for what you're buying and these are not cooperative people. Other than Carol, they act like they are doing you a favor. I wouldn't shop here again. There's also an odd vibe and dysfunction in the store with a tension among sales associates so I suspect their employees are not well treated. They obviously have a great business plan but they do not care about you or misrepresenting the items they are selling. Buyer Beware!!!

This is my second issue with this store. First issue, I purchased a sofa and when I picked it up I removed the cushions and it was covered in pet hair. They state they do not accept furniture with pet hair and I am allergic so I was not at all happy with this issue and spent my time cleaning and then sanitizing the piece. I still sneeze when I sit on it so I am now spending my time and effort trying to resell it on craigslist at what will surely be a considerable loss. I did not learn my lesson and gave the store a second chance. I purchased 2 chairs. After I had already purchased them they informed me they could not help me load them because it was Sunday. I live to far away to come back during the week so I had to load them myself into my van and this was not easy. After getting the chairs home I noticed they were really worn. with the fabric being really lose on the seats and the color was not at all what it appeared to be in the store. The creamy beige is actually YELLOW! I think they have poor lighting and spend considerable effort pulling fabric on the cushions tight so that you do not notice these things in the store. They have a no return policy so you are stuck with the purchases so be very very careful in your selection at this store.
Description of Work: I purchased a Sofa in August and 2 chairs in October from this store.

We bought a vacation home in Clearwater, FL and after all the costs associated with the home purchase our wallets were a little depleted, but we didn't have a stitch of furniture, except for a dining table that the former owner sold to us. I searched online for used furniture stores in the area and came across "The Missing Piece" They have a store in Tampa, but I chose the one in Clearwater, as it was closer to our house. They accept fine furniture on a consignment basis and sell it at very reasonable prices considering the quality of the pieces. They only accept fine quality furniture in excellent condition. Their showroom is huge and it's set up like a fine furniture store, the items for sale arranged in tasteful "vignettes" to show off the furniture to it's best advantage. I paid a $47 delivery charge for two professional movers (it's the same price no matter how many pieces you're having delivered), and was given a 2 hour time window for delivery. The driver called to let me know they were running a little behind. I didn't mind, but appreciated them letting me know. They called again when they were a few minutes away. The two men were careful with the pieces, and especially careful not to scratch our wood floor. They set up all the pieces exactly where I wanted them. I could tell they were professionals who knew how to properly handle furniture. For my $1200 I got a gorgeous leather Lane sectional sofa with recliners on each end, a beautiful glass and verdigris finish coffee and end table and two solid maple counter height bar stools for the breakfast bar that perfectly matched my kitchen cabinets. They swivel and have cushioned microfiber seats. The delivery charge was also included in that $1200. All the pieces looked like new, especially the sectional, which at $795 was about 1/3 of the price I would have paid new, and no one would ever know it wasn't new unless I told them. However, I'm so tickled with the deal I got I can't help but tell everyone about it. I'm so happy to have found "The Missing Piece" because over time I'll be able to furnish our entire house from that store...one stop shopping, I love it! I check their website every day for their "new arrivals" On the website they have listed a nice representation of the items they sell, but it's only a small fraction of what they have in the store. I love the descriptions of the furniture on the website. You can tell the owners really know about fine furniture. I can hardly wait to visit again and find the perfect "missing piece" for our home.
