kitchen. They are quite nice, but they did not have enough of the
granite and had to find it elsewhere which caused a delay.
What bothers me the most is that they were quite pleased to do these counter tops,
but after calling and stopping by a total of three times, they would not
even come to give us an estimate for a smaller job. We will go
elsewhere for the next kitchen.
My (almost) 85 year old mother, had reached a point where despite numerous "on the fly" modifications she could no longer get her foot up over the last 5 inches of her tub. EVEN with multiple caregiver's assistance. She DESPERATELY needed a walk in shower. The problem? Mom has MANY medical issues and the bathroom is a very crowded space. (Her entire "condo" (i.e. small villa) is only 600 sq. feet and with only one bathroom getting the tub out FAST while leaving Mom access to the ONLY toilet was key.
Both Mom and I have owned SEVERAL properties and I have gone the "handy man route" over the years. For this job, SPEED, and having it permitted so EVERYthing passed code down the road was a KEY consideration. No. Countryside Tile was NOT the cheapest. (Hence, the "B" for Price on this rating.) But the EASE with which I was ABLE to work with these folks, really gave me the LOWEST total cost.
Mom's constant refrain to me, was "HOW are they going to get that tub out of there without making a BIG MESS and it taking FOREVER?" (We/She/I had done these sorts of things before, "Handy Men", etc.). Paul arrived on a Mon. at 9:10 A.M. and the tub was outside on the back lot and out of a VERY cramped space, WITHOUT removing the toilet ALL in FOUR AND ONE HALF HOURS. (I timed it to the minute.) But the most impressive thing was they DID this withOUT having to "pull the toilet" which MANY concerns including "handy men" WOULD have.
Further, Mark promised me she would be using the shower on Friday (depending on inspections). The shower WAS (indeed) BEAUTIFUL and READY to USE on FRIDAY, just as promised!!!
But there is MORE!!! I/we had selected LARGE tile to make the shower, bathroom LOOK MUCH BIGGER. However, I THOUGHT that it should be laid "Horizontal Brick Style" just like the kitchen. PAUL the technician and installer with NEARLY 30 years in the business "tactfully" (but firmly) suggested NOT doing that, because the odd cut pieces would make the overall design look too "busy". I am SO happy I listened to PAUL. He laid everything perfectly symmetrical and the new walk in shower looks FABULOUS!!!
Still MORE. Many of the tile companies I talked to, were "handy man" type concerns, and either couldn't or wouldn't return phone calls. The larger tile companies who DID quote this job ALL refused to tile up to a Kohler style shower base I acquired at Lowe's. (For the purpose of RCarr installing). Countryside and RCarr plumbing were the ONLY firms that DIDN'T TRY to UPSELL ME INTO moving the drain to the center AND BUILDING a tile Shower Base. This was a purchase that would have added 1500 to the job and one I (and a builder consultant I used) truly did NOT feel was necessary!
When I showed Mark what "they" were doing, and I tried to get Mark to quote his that way, he tactfully suggested not to go this route, because "they're just trying to upsell you and you don't need it."
Please understand. My mother's place is beautiful. Very beautiful. But I didn't think we needed it either. In short, I'm so glad I listened to Mark, Paul, and Countryside Tile. Will never work with anyone else.
P.S.: ALOT of little things....too. I specifically asked Countryside who picked up Mom's "Kohler" Shower base at Lowe's to be SURE and get me one with METAL Bands. (So I would know the crate had not been tampered with. When I showed up to inspect it at the warehouse before the job, warehouse manager shows me the unit with metal bands (from his smartphone) being loaded on Countryside's truck at Lowe's.)
"My name is Mark Kirby, Owner & President of Countryside Italian Tile and Marble Imports. I am shocked and saddened by this review. We have been in business for 32 years and have never experienced a review of this nature. We would not be able to stay in business for this long if we conducted ourselves in the manner described above, and we would certainly never intentionally or knowingly insult a customer! In this instance, we went above and beyond to meet this customer’s expectations, even so far as providing extra service at no charge and fixing areas of work you were unhappy with during installation. Based upon customer feedback and near daily phone calls we thought we met expectations. ALL work was done to manufacturer’s recommendations and industry standards to ensure you received a quality product. This member was not “left with a $7,500 mess” because the work is guaranteed by my company, Countryside Tile and Marble. We will happily fix any remaining issues so the member is satisfied, but we have to know about the problems to fix them… Unfortunately this is the first we are being made aware of any remaining “issues” and the member has not returned any of our calls since work was completed."
The installer removed the broken travertine tile, installed a replacement provided by the owner. He did not remove enough of the underlayment to install the tile correctly and left it jutting out at a slight angle, revealing an edge. In addition, he used an almost white grout where he should have used a darker color to match the existing grout. Later the company owner inspected the work and recommended someone from a different company to correct the problem.
"Mr. [member name removed] evidently does not know that Tina the owner of his unit is still working on getting the flooring corrected with our last correspondence was Oct. 3rd. There are repairs such as filling all the holes in the Travertine that we do not do and the understanding between us is that the person doing that will also repair the grout color and correct the high piece. If the owner does not contract with him to do the additional work we are coming back to repair what was done."
I have recommended them to everyone I know that is contemplating re-doing floors!!
Installation day, the staff came to home (private residence, Tampa Bay area) on time. We had lots of big furniture that needed to be removed from the home, so this was big task for them! They worked tirelessly and diligently, taking pride in their work. All furniture returned in the proper place and intact. We are enjoying our new rugs and have had no troubles.
My bathtub contractor, Carr Plumbing, coordinated with Countryside to remove the tile around the old bathtub.
Mark and Countryside were wonderful. They removed the tile.
Carr then pulled old tub and installed new bathtub. Then Countryside came back and matched the tile to the remaining tile. It was a flawless job.
It is wonderful! I would not hesitate to contact Countryside. They did an excellent job.
