I hired Jack Rompon with Clear View TV (www.tv-repairman.com) 727-461-6031 & 727-999-4104 to repair my tv. He said it would take 3 days. When he came to my home to pick it up on 8/8/16, he said it would take 7-10 days. I paid a $115 deposit. I called him on 8/12/16 for an ETA and he said he would call back. He did not. I called later that day and he said he would call back in an hour. He did not. I called multiple times at both #s. All my calls were sent to voicemail. Only when I called from a different number did he answer, giving a flimsy excuse. He said he'd call later with an update. He did not. On 8/13/16,I visited the address on his business card (2664 Enterprise Rd; Clearwater FL) and found it didn't exist. Other businesses in the area said many people who hired Jack Rompon have come looking for their tvs as well to no avail. I called him and told him I'd file a police report. He returned the tv within the hour. The TV was not repaired, so I asked for a refund. He refused.

I do not enjoy writing bad reviews, however, I want to spare anyone from dealing with this in the future. I first noticed something was wrong with my tv (Samsung LCD, 46 in.) on October 4th, 2012. The colors were off on the picture and then within an hour all the color was gone and the screen was white. I got online and googled "tv repair clearwater" and up popped Clear View TV. I called on October 5th, 2012. The phone was answered by Jack and after I described the problem, he said he was in the area and he would stop by to take a look at the TV. Great! Very pleased at this point. Jack arrived in about 15 minutes. He was friendly and looked like a nice guy. Jack looked at the TV (while it was on) and fiddled with the cables for about a minute or so then said he needed to take it to the shop. He helped me get it off the wall and I helped him load it into his truck. He told me it would be $115 which would go towards the repair cost. I explained to him that time was of the essence since this was the TV we had connected to our DVR. He said he understood and would have his technician look at it as soon as he got back to the shop. I felt that I would hear back from him before the day was over since it was only 11am. At 5pm, I called Jack to inquire about my TV and he said the technician hadn't gotten a chance to look at it yet and he would know something by Monday. On Thursday, October 11, 2012, I called Jack to find out how my TV was and he said they still didn't know what was wrong with it. On Friday, October 12, 2012, Jack called me to inform me that he found the problem and he would order the part. He said it would cost $349 minus the $115 I already paid so the total cost would be $235. I told him to go ahead and order the part and fix the TV. I asked how long it would take and he said he would have the part in a week. On Friday, October 19th, 2012, I called Jack to find out if the TV was fixed and he said the part had not arrived yet. It was about 11am and he said it was still early in the day and if it arrived soon, he would get it installed and get the TV back to me. On Thursday, October 25th, 2012, I called Jack again to inquire about the TV. He said "You're not going to believe this, but the part arrived damaged so I had to send it back." I told him that I was not interested in investing any more time in this and I asked if I could pick it up on Friday, October 26th, 2012. He told me he would deliver it instead. We agreed on 2:30 on Friday, October 26th, 2012. On Friday, October 26th, 2012, at 2:25pm, I called Jack to make sure he was on his way. He honestly sounded like he had no idea he was supposed to be anywhere. He even asked me what time it currently was. I told him I would be leaving my house at 3 and to please arrive before I left. He agreed, saying that he would be there within 30 minutes. A few minutes later, he called back and spoke to my husband, saying that the TV was not assembled and he would need to return it Monday, October 29th. My husband instructed Jack to bring us the brackets for the wall mount that were on the TV because by now we had purchased a new TV. Jack agreed and brought the brackets at 3pm. On Monday, October 26th, 2012, Jack brought the TV back to my house. I asked him about my $115 that was supposed to go towards the repair and he said that since work was done on the TV, I could not get any of that money back. I asked him about the Clear View TV advertising on the website that claimed "Free Estimates" and he said that was only for phone conversations. This was not made clear on the website and at the time of the initial meeting, I was under the impression that this would not be a long, dragged out, 3 weeks and I was willing to pay $115 "towards the repair." This company falsely advertises "free estimates" and has horrible customer service. Every time I called Jack, I had to remind him who I was even AFTER giving my name. He NEVER called us to keep us posted on the status of the TV. When I spoke to Jack on the 25th and we agreed on the delivery of my TV on the 26th, it should have been put together and ready to go in time for the 2:30 delivery, not sitting unassembled in the shop! This may be petty to some; but since the TV was out of commision for so long I was not able to manage my DVR and all of my older, saved shows were deleted to make room for the new ones. Also, I think it's important to mention that the check I wrote (which Jack instructed me to make out to his name, NOT Clear View TV) cleared my bank on Friday, October 5, 2012. NO TIME WAS WASTED TO CASH MY CHECK!!! The only reason I gave a "C" for price was that I believed it was a fair price for the repair IF I HAD ACTUALLY HAD THE WORK PERFORMED. I do feel an "F" is in order based on me basically paying Jack $115 to tinker with my TV in his spare time. I will do all that I can to ensure that my friends and family never do business with Clear View TV.

Response from CLEAR VIEW TV
I wanted to address this issue because as the owner of Clear View TV for 20+ years, I can tell you that we strive do the best job we can for our customers. I wanted to make a few points. The TV repair was halted during the repair process by the Customer because they told us that they didn't want to wait any longer. Sometimes parts are difficult to obtain, and in this case, we received a bad board from Samsung, (and we told them so) because of that, we had to order another one, hence the delay. The $115 charge was for the shop labor. The service call, estimate, & pick-up and delivery are free. Also we cannot be held responsible for external devices connected to the tv. If there were recordings that were important to them, they could have simply unplugged the DVR and they would have been retained. We have serviced over 25k televisions in the Tampa Bay area over the past 20 years, and have many satisfied customers. I just wanted to tell our side of the story.
