The copper Freon lines were purged and filled with chlorine-free Freon. Additional attic insulation was brought to 10+ inches. As a part of the purchase, a three year preventive maintenance agreement was concluded.. The agreement includes 2 complete inspections per year. We received a product registration confirmation originally submitted to Maytag by Bayside Heating and Air Conditioning. All necessary work permits were obtained by Hillsborough Building Services Division. County inspection occurred 3/12/2014 and was approved at time of inspection. The entire process was conducted with professionalism, competency and outstanding customer service. The company called 8/2014 and scheduled the first detailed inspection. The outdoor condenser unit, indoor unit/blower, surge protection, air purifier, attic insulation and ducts overall condition was good. The system was operating within manufacture specs. The system is very quiet and runs less often than the old system. The air purification system works well. The company and product are both the best!
Description of Work: Bayside Heating & Air Conditioning removed the old heating and air conditioning system with a 5 ton 16 SEER stainless steel Maytag A/C heat pump system. The system included a condensate drain hook up, a safety overflow float switch, all ducts were inspected and sealed, new digital programmable thermostat, humidifier and an air purification system. Due to the system specs there was also a TECO rebate included in the price. A new condenser hurricane concrete pad and strap-down unit was placed.

Tony Called and told me he would be arriving at ( am he was so nice and professional explaining everything for me taking pictures, we extensive mold in both Air Conditiong systems,, he did not try to sell me but recommended , putting in, uv systems in both Air Handlers and slime strips, no charge, I have been using Bay Side for a few Years and can recommend them, time after time they are so honest and helpful, all the technicians have been so helpful

Well everything went well. Everyone we spoke with was pleasant and informative. The team that came in were fast, efficient and polite. The only issue we had is that even after explaining more than 6 times that my wife's last name is NOT the same as mine, that my WIFE was to be the primary contact and that everything was to be in HER name they continued to fail to understand this. They continued to call my company phone to ask questions, all the paperwork was done in MY name, the warranty is in MY name. I called a few times trying to explain this small fact again but finally gave up when we got a Thank you card to Mr. & Mrs (My last name). Other than that one detail everything went fine. It's the 21st Century and not every married couple have the same last name these days. I could understand a error in communication once or even twice but even after multiple calls to correct it and it's still not corrected.

Office staff and installers were excellent and worked with smiles. They were prompt and did what was contracted. The only thing I was surprised about was how expensive A/C systems are nowadays (condenser & air handler with UV system to prevent mold growth). But, it's been many years since I've had to replace mine. However, I feel I now have a great system (much quieter and efficient, which should reduce power usage)..

Bayside Heating and Air sent technician to condo. Never called me after he finished visit, tenant called me to let me know that technician did not know how to fix problem, did not know what the problem was either. Tenant was very upset, had company coming, told him I would send someone else as soon as possible. Contacted Bayside and spoke with supervisor, he said that tech was new and he would send a repair tech, so on Friday the tech came on time and was able to repair the unit. The bill was $356.95 that included his trip to condo. I asked him if he would refund the previous visit and said that they put it in the system, next time you need us we will not charge you for the trip. Have not heard from tenant, so I assume air is cooling properly to date. Then I called Angie's list, told Cynthia what happened and she told me to file this form for a refund.

On June 19th, 2014 ? I logged into Angie?s List (www.angieslist.com) and purchased a $49.95 for a 21 Point Seasonal Heating and A/C Check-Up (receipt attached). I chose the following dates for the service. Your suggested dates to schedule service Morning (AM) on June 23, 2014 Afternoon (PM) on June 23, 2014 Morning (AM) on June 24, 2014 On June 20th, I received the following email that Bayside had sent me a message on Angie?s list ?Bayside Heating & Air Conditioning Inc 6/20/2014 Thank you for the purchase . I will call as s0on as the office opens. Tonna? I received a phone call from Sharron at bayside the morning of June 20th 2014 asking what time would be convenient for me to schedule the$49.95 for a 21 Point Seasonal Heating and A/C Check-Up that day. I told her anytime that afternoon would work. We agreed on 3:00 pm. At 3:00 PM June 20th 2014, Joe Martho arrived and explained to me what he was going to do for the Check-up. I showed him the location of the air handler unit inside and the compressor outside. Joe then proceeded to start the inspection. At some point with in the next hour, he informed me the power to the AC unit had to be turned off to complete the check-up. A short while later, he came in and said he had some bad news. During the inspection, he had ?moved some wires? and this resulted in an ?electrical arc? causing the compressor to short out and quit working. He stated, in his opinion, it was likely because a former company who had previously serviced the unit ?sabotaged? it to create a situation where they could have another service call. Joe showed me the wires and the wire where it had arced. I don?t believe that Joe did anything malicious or with intent to do harm. However, I do know this; we were then left without air conditioning, at 5:00 pm, on a Friday with very little choice other than to replace both the air handler unit and compressor. Joe felt bad about the situation and stated we would be receiving a 2 year service warranty for free and a new unit ?at cost? because of the situation. I have no way of knowing whether or not this is true. Given the time of day I could not do any comparison shopping, get any further estimates, nor have anyone submit bids on a new AC unit. I feel strongly that I was put in a position by a representative of your company, (Joe) where I had no choice but to agree to purchase a new unit from Bayside. Joe had originally stated an installation could take place the next morning starting at 9:00, but checked and the earliest it could take place was 9:00 on Monday, June 23rd. That left us without air for 3 days. We had to pack up and spend the weekend at a hotel. Our Insurance company reimbursed us for the cost of the AC unit minus the deductible ($2500), but to date I've not received an Itemized list of the costs associated with the installation. I've request twice (once by phone, once by email on June 24th) to be provided with an itemized invoice to show the break down of the cost of the new unit. I've received only a copy of the original invoice. After a call with Gary Robinson of Bayside, He stated that 'Bayside is not liable for any remaining liability as the unit was Not operating at optimal efficiency' when Joe arrived and that 'Anything could be repaired'. Gary did agree to refund the 49.99 for the inspection 'If i sent an email to close the matter'.

We feel that this customer is misrepresenting the facts and we will gladly defend our position and our 15 year outstanding reputation. We were first called out to do a maintenance service at this customers residence on 6/20/14. Upon arrival the technician noted the system was not cooling very well and opened the inspection panel on the outdoor unit to check the compressor. When he went to check the amperage on the compressor, a high voltage wire that had been loosened at the contactor, caused an electrical short. The customer now claims he was inside and wasn't aware this happened but our call record shows the tech immediately called his supervisor and reported the customer had been standing right next to him and saw the wire had been loosened by someone, and saw the resulting short that almost caused a very serious injury. Our service manager instructed the tech to let the customer know that even though the loose wire connector was not caused by us, we would still send a service truck out that same day and repair or replace the damaged part at no charge. The customer said he appreciated that and the manager called the supply house to order the part and have it picked up before they closed on Friday afternoon. As he was placing the order our tech called back and said the customer was now thinking about replacing the old system and asked for a quote to do so. He explained the customer told him that he had recently bought the house and the Home Inspector told him the existing air conditioning system was mismatched, badly rusted, and would soon need to be replaced. We gave him several options and he decided to go ahead and upgrade to a brand new system instead of having us repair the old one. He then signed a work order that clearly states, "One leg to the compressor was loose from prior company's inspection." The customer then had 3 days after that to get second opinions or quotes, but he chose not to do so. We went ahead and installed the new system 3 days later at his request and also replaced his heat recovery system going to the hot water tank. Two days after the installation we received a call from an insurance company investigator wanting to know why we had to replace the whole system at this customers address. We explained that we DID NOT have to replace the entire system and that we had offered to repair it at no charge but he decided to upgrade it due to its poor condition which was noted in his home inspection report. The following day we received another call from a different investigator with more questions about this customers claims. A month after the installation we then received a letter from this customer informing us that the insurance company had finally agreed to pay him $3,600 toward his new system upgrade and now he wanted us to pay him an additional $2,500 to cover his deductible. We called and reminded him that he decided to replace his old rusted out system on his own, even though we had offered to repair it for him at no charge. We have informed him that we have no intention of helping him subsidize the improvements on his new home to avoid him filing a complaint. Chris came and made an overall check of my AC unit. He did not find any problems with the condensing section(the one inside the garage) as a previous company that was trying to rip me off had told me. He did some minor repairs on a falling insulating pad and, additionally, he was great about answering all my AC my questions. I will stay with this company in the future. I got a good impression of their service. The only problem I might see with them is that they are pretty busy. I had to re-schedule twice my appointment.

I purchased an Angie's List deal for $49 and the office receptionist who was very accomodating, was able to work me in for the next day. The technician arrived exactly on time and was effieicent and professional. He quickly went about his work and thoroughly assessed my air conditioning unit as well as the insulation in my attic. He made excellent recommendations after the work was completed but was never overbearing in trying to sell me anything. I will definately use the company for my future service.

The service was not worth it but they were an efficient operation setting up the appointment, calling before coming to the house, and following up afterwards. Well organized business, but I don't want a business I want a service interested in fixing the individual customer needs. Basically you pay for them to come to your house and sell you other services. You expect this from an inspection, however his recommendations were the same before and after opening the unit, however none of them would even help the house cool. I would have dismiss this and not have written a review at all, had the gentlemen not of used an annoying sales tactic. Instead of telling me what was "needed", he insisted on speaking to both my wife and I, because they know the wife will nag the husband about the work that could be done but wouldn't even fix our cooling issues. I hate sales tactics like this, especially when the recommendations are generic and not geared toward the needs of the particular homeowner. He never even looked at the coils that was the main recommendation of what work should be done. The guy might as well have been on yahoo telling me what work could be needed as he hardly look at the unit, not sure I believe there was 21 points to that inspection.

We are not sure why this customer would think the tech did not look at the coils before telling him they need a chemical cleaning. He obviously opened the air handler where the coils are located and checked the amperage on the blower motor which was running at 1.6 amps. He also treated the pan inside the unit with a time released algaecide, and then informed the customer that the coil could be chemically cleaned to improve the cooling capacity but the customer did not want it done. Not very well. The technician informed me that there was a "severe" mildew problem in my 7 year old a/c system and that I should put ultra violet lights in my attic for approximately $500.00. I told him that I would hold off on the ultra-violet lights, as I wanted another opinion. Since this company had a good rating with Angie's List, I purchased a two year maintenance contract for $196.00. After the technician left, I realized he had not changed the filters with the five year washable filters that came with the tune-up/inspection. Bayside has called me a couple of times to schedule another maintenance call. I decided to have another licensed air conditioner repair company give me their opinion on whether or not there was a "severe" mildew problem. They were here about a month ago and reported that they detected no problem. I now have a dilemma because I paid for a two years maintenance contract and don't want to do any more business with this company. I am hoping that Angies List can negotiate a refund of the $196.00 paid for the maintenance contract.

There seems to be some confusion here. We ran one service call at this address over a year ago and the work order shows the inside of the air handler was heavily impacted with mold and mildew. The technician recommended a full overhaul to clean it all out, and the customer ordered the work done. Our service man then took the air handler apart and chemically cleaned the evaporator coil, blower motor section, the interior housing, wiring harnesses, and all the insulation. He spent almost an hour just vacuuming and flushing the drain line to get it unblocked and draining properly. He then put the unit back together and mentioned the customer may consider installing a UV system in the future to help keep the system clean. The customer then has another company come out, and they tell him there is no mold in mildew in the unit?? We are happy to hear the other company verified that our tech did such a good job when he cleaned all the mold and mildew out of the system a few months earlier. It is unfortunate that this customer didn't give us a call before writing this report so we could clear up the confusion he has about the work that was done.

We initially requested an estimate from Bayside and two other companies. As the compressor had to placed on a four-story roof, the basic difference in estimates was whether they compressor could be toted up an exterior ladder or would a crane be needed. Bayside was the only company that included the crane in their estimate. Rather than take a change that the compressor could not be carried up and we would have to pay additionally for the crane, we accepted Bayside's estimate. The company was prompt in doing the estimate and eager to do the work. In fact they wanted to go forward before we were ready. However they came to install the unit, removed the old one (which was really old) and did a great cleanup job. The crane arrived promptly and the compressor was replaced. The servicemen were polite and knowledgeable, and we would utilized this company again. The only problem: Bayside was to contact the inspector and set up the inspection with me, and I have still not heard from them. I plan to wait one more week and then complain.

They said they would not handle or install an American standard product. They never said why they would not. He told me he wanted me to buy another brand that he would recommend. Why he is recommending it over American standard I’m not very sure about. The brand he is recommending is not listed in the top products under consumer reports. I tried to call this different company but they didn’t have a customer phone number. This company makes dishwashers and refrigerators that of which they have a customer number for but they didn’t have a customer line for their AC’s though. He didn’t tell me the truth about the machine. He told me it was all made of stainless steel. I thought if it was all stainless steel the estimate would have been doubled. I wasn’t getting the correct answers through them so I will not be using them.

This customer called our office for an estimate and we gave him some information on a Maytag 3 1/2 ton, Heat Pump, split system. He then asked if we could send someone by with some brochures on the M120 and M1200 models. When we arrived with the brochures he had requested, he then asked for an estimate on a American Standard system. The sales person explained that we do not carry the American Standard Brand, and he also mentioned the Maytag M1200 has a stainless steel cabinet and a longer manufactures warranty. The customer seemed to be upset that we did not carry the American Standard brand, even though he never mentioned it until we got out there for his free estimate ??

The sales call was great, presented us with 3 different options ranging from 4800 - 7000. The Install techs for very professional, answered any questions we had about the system and cleaned up after themselves. We bought a maintenance plan, so we expect to see them out here again in a few months for cleaning.
