Let me say up front that I have a home warranty. But when it is August in Florida and your a/c fails, you do NOT want to hear that they will be out "tomorrow afternoon" when you call first thing on Monday. So, based on Angie's List high marks, I called Bayside. At first I was told there were no openings for service today, and then the woman asked me to hold for a moment and she came back saying that they could be at my home between 2:00 and 5:00 this afternoon. She gathered all my information, asked me a couple of questions and we booked the appointment. The technician arrived at 4:00 and immediately determined that the system had gone into safety shutoff because of a blockage in the drain line - mostly due to algae buildup. He did a very thorough flush (about three times longer than the other "warranty" dispatched company ever did). But he didn't stop there. He checked the system and found out that I was a bit low on coolant and I authorized adding the one pound it needed. I've never had the other companies check it (or at least tell me they did) when they came. Chris, the technician, seemed very knowledgeable and was very polite. While this cost me quite a bit more than the normal deductible I would be charged with my warranty, I do feel I had a much more thorough repair call and analysis and obviously, it was wonderful that I could get service the same day I called. I will probably put Bayside into my contact list for my future a/c needs.

Mark was excellent, explained in language that was understandable. Took many hours to fix, well worth the time. Inspected all aspects of the air condition unit and in the attic. Mark did not leave anything out. Customer Service was excellent

I had a new central air conditioning system (new condenser and air handler) installed about 3 years ago by another company, and have had erratic issues with it ever since installation. The company that installed the unit, Air Zero, had come back a few times, but kept telling me that nothing was wrong. The last time they came, they replaced a purportedly defective part still under warranty, but still charged me about $600 in labor, and didn't even fix the problem I was having with it not cooling effectively at times. Not long after, a different company, who handled my maintenance plan on the unit, was doing routine service and telling me there were problems with the pressure level in the coolant, but couldn't provide me any details. Based on my past experiences with them, I didn't want them to attempt any repair, particularly if they couldn't even precisely identify the problem. With a great deal of frustration, I set out to find a competent and trustworthy company to find and fix the problem. I turned to Yelp, Angie's List, and any other web based research tools I could find, and decided to call Bayside based on their stellar reputation. Personally, I tend to steer away from the larger companies, such as Bayside, because I think you can get better service from smaller companies, to whom your business can mean more, but that hadn't worked very well for me regarding the AC, so I went with Bayside. They scheduled the appointment for the day after I called. They called me at work to let me know the technician was on his way to my house. I rushed home to meet him. He was a little later than I expected, so I was waiting anxiously. A technician named Mark came to the door in a very polite and professional manner. He gave me the usual speech about changing the filer, which I have heard a few times by now, then went outside to look at the condenser unit. In less than 1 minute he offered a hypothesis as to what was wrong based on the amount of condensation on the tubing on one side of the refrigerant filter and not the other, but said he would run a full diagnostic on the unit and identify if that was the problem. He confirmed that it did appear to be the problem, and provided an estimate to fix it. It was about half of what Air Zero charged me to replace a part still under warranty. Within a couple hours, he completed the work, and according to his diagnostic equipment, everything was finally working properly. Whatever he did, it was practically blowing snow out of the vents when he was done. I have never had a more positive experience with any service provider in my life. After all the different people who have looked at the unit since its installation 3 years ago, it is unfathomable to me that this guy knew exactly what was wrong by looking at the condensation on the outside of the copper tubing. I don't know about the rest of them, but the technician Mark is better than any other I have encountered, and unfortunately, I've encountered quite a few over the years. I could not recommend any provider more emphatically. I hope all of my dealings with Bayside go as well. If they do, they have my business for life.

The day before my diagnostic call I had this company clean and inspect two a/c units as we just purchased our home. There was a leak at the air handler and I was told I would have to pay another service call a "diagnostic call" fee so they could determine the cause of the leak. Apparently they have two different types of techs and the one for the inspection service could not tell me the cause of the leak. Turns out it was just the PVC needed to be resealed. So I feel this is something that could have easily been taken care during the inspection.

This customer is mistaken about being charged for the follow up repair call after we did their maintenance service. When the customer called in several days later about a water leak, we explained our maintenance technician did not notice any leak, possibly because the drains lines are wrapped with foam insulation. We went ahead and sent out one of our service trucks that have all the parts and materials to make any needed repairs. Our service man removed the insulation from the line and found several joints that had just been stuck together and not glued. He then glued and sealed the leaking joints and reinsulated the line to make the repair. We did not charge the customer for the service call or the repair, but took care of it for them as a courtesy. The guy that came out was polite, but so is any other crook.
Description of Work: They came out to look at the blower fan and module (they were my 3rd opinion) and wanted to charge $1,800 for the job to replace both. The other two providers quoted me $900 and $950. These people wanted TWICE the amount. Would never do business with such a greedy company. Run away people!

Upon arrival the technician found the electronic module, and variable speed motor not working.. Also found the door to the air handler unit had fallen off, allowing unfiltered air to be drawn in, resulting in the air handler completely clogged with dirt and dust. We called the Carrier for price and availability on factory certified replacement parts. Being a Carrier high efficiency complex system, the factory recommend factory OEM parts. There are less expensive after market parts but strongly not recommended for this type of system. We then quoted the customer for replacement of the parts, and to tear down and clean out the air handler unit.To do this involves, reclaiming all of the freon, cutting out the coil with torches, chemically cleaning the coil and blower, vacuuming out and sanitizing the inside of the air handler cabinet, and then finally complete reassembly. All in all overt a half days worth of work. We wish this customer well with their A/C needs, and if we can be of further assistance, we would be glad to help.

Great communication from a great service provider. The tech arrived at the agreed upon date and time and immediately went to work. After completing the inspection, he pointed out that my coils were in need of cleaning, which we scheduled to be done a couple of weeks later. I also ended up purchasing the buy 2 years get 1 year free maintenance plan. Now that I am moving into a new home, I will be transferring the coverage and bring them with me. Thanks, Bayside!

The problem with the company was they did not diagnose the problem, they were off the mark. They asked me to change the air conditioner. I was not convinced when he asked me to replace the unit. He was scheduled to come at a certain time and he was late.

I spoke to the gentleman today, and he informed me he had three different companies out, to try and diagnose a noise problem. It was discovered that there was a vibration in the copper lines, adding to the already old and noisy system. He also agrees that he is going to have to consider replacing the worn out 14 year old system, due to age, efficiency, and condition. He does recognize the outdoor coils are falling apart from corrosion. The gentleman was appreciative of the phone call and concern, and told me he would happily give us an opportunity in the future when he decides to upgrade. First impression was good....bought the service call package thru AL. Kendall came out promptly and showed me what was going on with the system and recommended a new system since I had a few freon leaks and the old system was 14 years old. I figured it was time to bite the bullet and agreed to purchase their Maytag 14 SEER system and some additional duct work for $6500.00 The appointment was set and then got a call from the office saying that they couldn't get the unit by the promise date and they wanted to delay installation for a couple days...no big deal. I agreed and the new appt was set. Then got another call saying that they could install on the previous date if I wanted to downsize to another unit that was 12 SEER? after all the sales job on why you need a 14 SEER unit, this seemed a little weird and I insisted that we stay with the original unit and delay the install. Install went well...the guys arrived on time and everything was fine with the install. THAT'S WHEN THE PROBLEMS STARTED...and this is what defines the character of a company and it's management...not selling the product or service, that's the easy part...but how do they handle things when the problems arise. (That's why were all on Angie's List, right?) 3 days after the install the air went off...dead in the water. No indications on the thermostat, no air, not fan, nothin...DEAD! My wife called them immediately and got the answering service on Friday eve....got a call back from the service tech on Saturday. His name was Mark, and boy what a gem this guy is....lol He told her that she would have to wait until Monday, because our warranty didn't include weekend service. She explained to him that we were getting ready to leave town and that we had animals in the house that we were concerned about....then he said, "Oh, its just a vacant house, well we definitely aren't making a call for that!" So that's when I decide to give Mark a ringy dingy...and he was absolutely THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL PERSON I have ever spoken to on the phone. Not sure where they found this guy, but definitely not someone you want to have talking to customers you value. I told him that if what he had told my wife was the way they do business at Bayside Air Conditioning, after I spent $6500 on a brand new system 3 days prior, that we are going to have words. He said don't threaten me, and hung up! I stayed calm and dialed Mark back and asked him if he really hung up on me?? He said he didn't like the fact I threatened him. (Apparently, this guy has never been threatened before....because saying your gonna have words isn't much of a threat in my book.) Anyway, tried to keep it calm and told him that I expect that they are going to get out there ASAP and fix my AC as I have my cat in the house and people over taking care of my cat...and it's 90+ degrees out. He told me again about the warranty...blah, blah, blah. I told him that this has nothing to with the warranty, this has to do with BAYSIDE standing behind their work. He told me that they wouldn't come out and that I should have someone come and get my cat out of the house and take it somewhere else if I was so worried about it. (Who is this guy???) And then when I told him that was unacceptable and he needed to get out and fix their mistake, he of course hung up on me again. What a professional. Then left another message with the answering service for Tom, the president of the company to call me ASAP...never heard from him of course. So, I just happened to have the cellphone of the sales guy, Kendall and called him on his days off. He was sympathetic but was unable to get any help...nice guy, but I'm guessing they don't listen to him. Anyway, true to their word, they didn't come out until Monday and my neighbor let them in and apparently they goofed the installation of the drip pan and the float switch turned the system off. They couldn't repair it with my car sitting in the garage and my neighbor couldn't find my keys...so then when they were found later that afternoon, they couldn't come back until Weds. when it FINALLY was fixed. No apology, no calls to ask if everything was alright...nothing. All I can say is AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!! There are so many good companies out there...you don't need to bother with these jokers.

Most of the statements this customer has made here are either completely fabricated, or grossly exaggerated. He falsely claims he was downgraded to a 12 SEER system when a quick internet search will show that no one has even made a 12 SEER system for over 10 years. He also says we incorrectly installed his drain pan causing the unit not to work when the truth is his own plumbing drain was clogged and when the water backed up the safety switch and shut the unit off. This customer was extremely rude and threating while he was demanding that we schedule his vacant house ahead of other customers who were home and with out air. When our tech arrived to see what the problem was, the neighbor informed us this customer left his car parked under the attic access and had no key to move it, so we could not even get to the unit. We told him if he did get in touch with the owner to move the car we would be happy to return that afternoon. The neighbor apologized and said there was really no hurry and it wasn't an emergency. We later returned and cleaned out his plumbing drain at no charge, and the unit was running perfectly. When we run over 11,000 service calls a year we know we are going to run into all kinds of people. Customer like this make us appreciate the 99% of them that are a pleasure to work with.

They were very fair and up to code. They were very willing to answer my questions. They are very professional and knowledgeable. They definitely know their stuff. Their rates are competitive. I feel they are competent in their work. I already have another job scheduled with them. They are going to do a replacement of the evaporation coils and the associated repairs for that.

I had initiated the first visit. The actual covering inspection was at no cost. I did do something extra for which I gave them $95. On the re-inspection, they just went through the whole air conditioning unit, just checking. The first time, a year ago, they actually cleaned my ducts, the vents and stuff. They were informative. They stood there and explained stuff to me. They went to the whole gizmo, the whole system, said why they were doing this and pointing up certain things that in the future would need to be replaced some time. They were very good. I had two different service men and both of them were excellent.

The tech, a young man named Daniel, called ahead of my scheduled appointment time, and arrived exactly as promised. The service to be performed was just a regular system check up, nothing fancy. Daniel acted with the utmost professional courtesy, requesting I escort him to the condenser without just barging into my home, as well as so he could walk me through the process. He knew exactly what to look for, and was careful and meticulous in his investigating, cleaning the area and keeping the parts organized. My evaporator coil was dirty, and Daniel explained to me the exact state that it was in, what it was used for, and the repercussions if it was not eventually cleaned (which I bought on the spot due to his through explanation). Next, we moved on to the actual air conditioning unit, where we proceeded to examine each part carefully, as the technician detailed the use for each connector and the state of the wiring, as well as teaching my how the parts connect and make the system function. Once the service completed, Daniel explained the three year service agreement, which I also purchased right away (three years of maintenance twice a year, with the company handling all scheduling for me)! I cannot recommend this company enough, and especially the fantastic service that was provided. I will definitely use this company again, and request Daniel as my technician!
Description of Work: Routine air conditioning system checkup. During the checkup, it was found that the evaporator coil was incredibly dirty and needed to be cleaned.

Bayside Heating & Air Conditioning gets nothing but RAVE REVIEWS from me. Tonna was so patient and helpful when I called to discuss which big deal was best for me and set up the appointment. Our service technician was professional, courteous, patient, and as thorough as I have ever witnessed in this industry! His name is Daniel R; and although I write this review for other prospective customers; I want the owners to know what an asset he is to their company. I have a feeling they do; because I noticed that they had gotten the service award for 14 years straight!! Kudos to them... I see how they did it! Daniel spent 2 hours servicing our unit.... Added 1 pound of R-22 and repaired and taped a leak in the part of the system in the attic. He impressed us enough that we decided to go with the three-year contract for $196- actually that was the price of the two-year contract and the third year was free!!! ? They will come every six months to check out my system and keep it in tiptop shape! That is great for me because my main home is in North Carolina and I am only here to take care of things part time. I recommend anyone needing help in this area to try this company. I am certainly glad I did!!
Description of Work: 21 point service on my AC- a Big Deal on Angie's List that is well worth it!! Best $49.95 I have ever spent on AC repairs! 😀
