Details on the morning visit: - Daniel called an hour or so before arrival, on time and gave proper warning. - He was professional and respectful and took the time to patiently and thoroughly answer all of my questions (which I had a lot of). I probably took a solid 30 minutes asking questions about the UV light system (warranty, how it works, pros/cons, etc). - I ended up purchasing the UV light system for the coil and also one for the supply plenum (two altogether). The cost was about $2,400. Overall, great experience and clean, professional install. Everything is working fine and the services were delivered as promised. I would highly recommend doing business with them, and will continue to do so myself.
Description of Work: Scheduled service with Bayside for work on 23 SEP 2016... Daniel came out for a regular maintenance call that is part of my every 6 month preventative maintenance agreement check. I also had the office representative make a note about wanting to discuss the install of a UV Light System into the air handler.

This was an emergency call Sunday evening. Steve, one of their techs, called me back around 6 PM to let me know he just finished his previous call and that he was on his way. He came over and took a look at everything and found a fuse that was broken. He immediately fixed it. This was late in the day and we appreciated it very much that he took our call to fix our A/C. Thankfully it wasn't anything serious.

I thought they were a little bit expensive. I didn't have any major complaints with them, but they also seemed a little expensive and then we switched over to United Air which seemed more reasonably priced and so we stick with them now. I would give them a try and see how the price was again, if I needed to. The price was the only thing I wasn't sure.

Used this company solely due to Angie's List recommendation. Purchased coupon offered here. Bayside's office staff seemed very professional over the phone. Communication was very good. Unfortunately, the two goons they sent over to my house were not interested in performing the duct cleaning and routine maintenance services I paid for. They "inspected" my system and then rolled directly into a sales tactic to replace the entire system. They referred to my attic mounted air-handler using statements like "could fall through your roof at any minute" and "could cause massive damage to the ceiling". They "guaranteed me" that "it wouldn't make it through the week" and that I needed to schedule a $10,500 replacement tomorrow. (I have the estimates to prove my allegation). While I am NOT a certified HVAC technician, I am also not a certified idiot. The system DID make it through the week. I knew that the system was old and inefficient. I was trying to get it serviced to make it through the summer-not taken for a ride.

The 2 technician's this customer referred to as "goons' have been the business over 15 years and we have never had one complaint on them. When they arrived they did a complete maintenance service on the 17 year old system at the discounted Angie's List rate. They also found the system was leaking Freon and not cooling properly. When they got up in the attic they saw that the bottom of the old air handler was completely rusted out and the water was draining into the emergency pan overflowing into the ceiling insulation, and the high voltage wiring under the unit. Because the customer had told them that he was going to be out of town for a while, they video taped this to show him the wet insulation and the wiring laying in water. When they showed him the pictures he pointed out to them that the water had been draining down one of the rafters and rotted out the soffit on the outside of the house. The customer also had a plastic garbage wrapped around the electrical disconnect because it kept shorting out, and was afraid someone would touch it. While they were discussing options, the customers wife was kind enough to invite the two goons to stay for lunch, and she made them chicken and yellow rice. During lunch the customer asked what it would cost to replace the old unit and was given an estimate. The written will show the customer was also being untruthful about the price quoted, as the real estimate was 30% less than he stated in his complaint. He also told our techs that he owned the house but the Hillsborough Property records show that its listed in another name. There were no hard sell tactics used here as he claims and we are pleased to hear our employees made sure they knew about this unsafe situation. We hope he gets his problems taken care of soon, and we hope he will call one of our competitors to help him with it.

After the AC was first installed I had two different people come out to try and solve the not so cool air coming out. I wasn't taken seriously initially, the woman I spoke with on the phone said it couldn't compete with the heat of the summer. Finally she agreed to send someone out, and the second person was able to fix it. It's been over a month since the install, and since day one I've been asking that they replace the breaker and book the inspection. After the third or fourth phone call they finally booked the inspection and once again said they'd fix the breaker. The inspector just came by and failed me, because the breaker wasn't taken care of. Honest mistake normally, but since I've been called and asking for it to be done since June it's ridiculous. They are supposed to call back in an hour to let me know the deal with the breaker. Other issues were during the four times their repairmen came, they only called to say they were on their way once. Not a big deal, but they kept saying they would call. I also was told I would receive the amount I paid for their initial diagnostic off the bill, and didn't realize it wasn't there until after I paid. When installing the new thermostat a piece of my wall was ripped off (see attached). I can fix it, but I wish they would have left the old one so I don't have to do the small house repair. My AC runs fine, so if you have time to stay on top of them and take days off for issues they're an option.

We apologize for any inconvenience to this customer. A breaker was changed before inspection, but unfortunately the customers electrical panel was mislabeled therefore the wrong breaker was installed. The technician tried to call the customer again to go back with no answer, the customer did call back and told us she didn't need to be there for us to change the breaker, so the technician went ahead and corrected the breaker. We have scheduled her inspection and do not foresee any more problems. As far as her t-stat, we can not leave an old one on the wall because if it is not fully compatible it can damage the new system and potentially void her warranty.

We have used Bayside for annual maintenance and repair of our HVAC system since 2013. Recently, we returned from a weekend out of town to find that our air conditioner was not blowing cold air. I called for repair service, and the very nice lady who answered the phone told me to check the circuit breakers first. I (stupidly) thought that the fact that the fan was blowing meant that the unit had power. She patiently explained that the compressor is on a separate circuit. She also said that there had been thunder storms over the weekend which could have caused the breaker to flip. I checked, and sure enough she was right! Once the breaker was reset we had cold air in no time. I am so impressed that she offered this simple solution rather than just dispatching a technician, who would have charged for a service call. I wonder how many other repair companies would be this considerate. Bayside will continue to have my business for a long, long time!

Seemingly terrific - first gentleman to come to look things over and provide an inspection was pleasant and amiable. He gave me some good advice. I told him I was looking for another year on the system so I could prioritize other maintenance needs of my new home. I thought the system needed to be charged up with freon, but was told my system was an older model and he didn't carry that kind of freon, that another technician would need to come out to look at the system. The second guy was a bit harder sell and basically told me he could charge it up, but my system had an ENORMOUS leak and he could not guarantee it the freon would not just leak right out. He also told me that my air handler and outside unit were mismatched brands and that they were not compatible. The solution he kept coming back to was a whole new system for $6,000. They offered to finance one year same as cash, etc. I told him I had a home warranty, and shouldn't that cover it, and he said, no, they don't cover that. So I began arrangements to have the new unit installed. My current unit is 20 years old, it's not out of the realm of possibility that it needs to be replaced. I was just hoping for another year. So we scheduled the replacement for a week later and arranged financing. After the second tech left, I just didn't feel right about not checking out my home warranty, and sure enough I was covered for a new system. (not the whole thing but a portion) and so my Home Warranty company sent on of their authorized techs to assess the situation. Bottom line: there was no leak, no issue with having two different brand units, and he had the freon on his truck. $250 later he had charged up my system and cleaned the outside unit. And the unit has been cooling ever since. Watch out for these guys. It's clear their technicians are compensated for anything they sell. They use mild scare tactics to create doubt and they are nice enough to make it seem as though they are looking out for you. Bottom line - they recommended a new unit for $6k when all it took was a charge up! Buyer beware!

This customers system is over 20 years old and the condenser and air handler are mismatched, and not even the same brand. She admits the unit was frozen up when she called us out which proves the old system is definitely leaking Freon. Two of our technicians also checked the pressures and verified they were very low, which again proves the leak. No reputable contractor would ever recommend spending $1,500 to $2,000 to replace a leaking coil in a mismatched, 20 year old system, and we agree with our technicians recommendation. Her warranty company did not repair the leak, they simply charged up the leaking system for $250, which will make it cool for a short while until the refrigerant leaks out and freezes up again. We understand this customers feelings but unfortunately she just tossed $250 out the window, and will be faced with the same exact problem again in a just a few weeks. The estimate we gave is good for 30 days and we hope this customer will give us a call when the unit quits working again, we will be happy to help out however we can.

When I agreed to pay the higher fee they told me that they wouldn't schedule the service appointment after hours and that I would have to call back on Saturday to request an emergency service.

This customer purchased a discount Big Deal coupon through Angie's List and then called us as the office was closing on Friday afternoon. He told us he had purchased the coupon and wanted us to send someone out that evening after hours to check the system at one of his rental properties. When our dispatcher told him that the coupon clearly states that is for business hours only, he became very upset and insisted we send someone that evening or on Saturday anyway. She tried to explain that we are required to pay our technicians overtime rates for evening and weekends, and that's why the coupon can only be used during business hours. We are sorry we could not accommodate this customers wishes, and we would suggest he contact Angie's List for a refund on the coupon.

First off, we have a 3 year contract with this company. Called in on a Thursday to have emergency service done, can't come out. Then we call in at 6:52 am for emergency service on Sat. They have no record of the call when I inquired about when they could get here. Can't come out until the following day. Overall disappointed with them since we have a contract. Why bother having an emergency line if they can't take info and relay it to the techs. When we called to speak with a manager on Monday, she dismissed our concerns. We will never use this company again for any further services. We've had duct work done by them and vents cleaned. Won't get another penny from us.
Description of Work: Emergency service - no show. Don't bother purchasing the contracts with them, doesn't do anything to help you when you need emergency service.

Customer mistaken or confused on time frame. After hours answering service records show, customer called in Tuesday on 6/7/16 for problem with A/C. Then called back and cancelled call giving no explanation. Customer called after hours answering service again at 12:06 PM [Member Information Removed] 7/11/16 [Member Information Removed] A/C not cooling. On call technician returned call to customer, apologizing, because he had quite a few call ahead of them, and unfortunately wouldn't be able to get to them until very late. He then offered the customers the very first first appointment the next morning, on Sunday, to go out and see what the problem was. The customer became very irritable and hung up on the technician. Customer called Monday morning to complain because we could not get to them on [Member Information Removed]. We again apologized to the customer for the inconvenience, and tried to explain that unfortunately an unusual amount of calls came in on that [Member Information Removed] and the technician was trying his best to accommodate them as as quickly as he could. We again apologize to this customer for any inconvenience, and would be happy to continue to service them.

The AC units stopped working in my elderly in-laws home. I called Bayside about 1:30 PM in the afternoon and requested assistance with the units. Fully expecting that it was late in the day, they would not be able to get to the house until the next day or if the same day, after hours at an additional charge. Bayside was able to get a technician out to the house within a couple of hours, repair the unit (a simple fix caused by clogged condensate lines) and get the unit operational again. Gabriel, the technician, was friendly and efficient. The cost was very reasonable, much less than what others would have charged or what they could have charged which is greatly appreciated. Although this problem is easily avoided by routine cleaning of the drain lines, and because of the service Bayside has provided me (I am remote and in another state) and to keep my father in law from having to climb attic stairs and ladders, I have added a twice per year preventative maintenance agreement with Bayside at a very reasonable cost.
Description of Work: Condensate drain lines were cleaned and treated.

I am not always happy with them. I am not sure I am going to renew the contract with them. Every time they send someone out that is good, I call and ask for them, and they are gone. They have the biggest turn around that I ever saw. The quality is okay as long as you can resist the pressure. They respond.

We are sorry that we are not always able to send a certain tech to do your service. We don't feel we have a high turn over rate with our employees at all, especially compared to other service companies here in Florida. We do have some people that move or transfer to another line of work just like any other company, but we also have many employees that have been with us 10 to 15 years. Sometimes its difficult getting one tech to one address at a certain time when we are scheduling 20 service techs to 5,000 customers in 3 different counties. We try to do the best we can but its not always possible. Usually our priority is scheduling calls to get to our customers as quickly as we can, with the least amount of drive time. The inspection is phone scheduled at the convenience of the homeowner. The courteous tech always arrives on time. Cleans the inside and outside areas once he is finished and is excellent to explain his procedures and what he found. Installing the ceiling air filters is much appreciated as well as taking photos on the blower's insides so that a decision could be made about the spore elimination. It is a pleasant encounter each time with the Bayside personnel.
Description of Work: This was a part of the system installation maintenance and inspection service of the heat pump. This system is under a three year preventive maintenance agreement. There were 18 points of inspection for the outdoor condenser unit. The indoor unit was also extensively checked. Bacterial growth was noted in the blower. The primary drain pan was cleaned along with the surge protector, the RGF purifier and the depth of the attic insulation. The flexile duct system joints were checked and the duct wrap condition was inspection. The heat pump system was in good operating condition. The condensate line was also cleaned and treated. The technician observed spore-like growth inside the untreated area of the blower. Many photos were taken and shared with the homeowners. The photos were emailed to the homeowner at work so that a decision could be made by the homeowners to install a heavy duty ultraviolet system inside the air system.. This new addition is also warrantied. The technician always changes the two ceiling air filters supplied by the owner.

This is the best company, just look at the ratings! They don't try to oversell you on anything but they don't sugarcoat things either. We know our unit is old, but these guys keep it blowing strong, we're not ready for a new unit yet, and expressed that to them. No problem they said, they keep things running smoothly and are just all around awesome people.

Gabriele was on time and very professional, he explained all the work he did and did a couple things that I didn't expect would be done since no other company has done them before. I am trilled to know that there are professional people that are honest and have excellent work ethics. , Two Men arrived at 8;30 they were young conscientious workers, polite put tarps down all over it was quite a job, they were super careful about keeping everythins neat as they worked , I was very impressed with both of them when they were finished they cleaned up everything,

John Peifer came for my annual Inspection he was polite , actually early, super conscientious, could say enough abouty him great worker etc, our air conditioner on the side were our bedroom, and office was filled with mold pretty bad I was pretty freaked as I have bad allergies , we talked he was not pusy at all but I decided to have the work to repair , he went to bat for me to get the best price as I am an Angieslist member and have been using Bay Side for some time, I could not say enough about John would ask for him again next time,

They were great! On Wednesday, they performed a check-up of the central A/C system and measured and quoted the cost for the addition of vents in the family room. The price was fair and they were able to come out the next day to do the work (I was going out of town). Very professional, vacuumed after the job, and left everything in perfect working order.
Description of Work: Preventative maintenance on A/C and added 2 ducts and vents to family room.

Great from start to finish. We live out of state and Bayside Heating & Air was so efficient and accommodating in setting up the appointment and responding quickly to fix the AC in a rental property. The price was great and we will be using them for future AC maintenance and issues.

After a rocky start (first appointment no one showed up due to a scheduling mishap), the representative Daniel performed an annual maintenance on my AC unit. Daniel was thorough, professional and quick. He pointed out several items for me to consider, with no pressure whatsoever. I would recommend this company to others and will use them again myself!

air duct cleaning

They had a lot of up charges for the duct cleaning. For the actual duct cleaning itself, they just said that it needed oils and everything else and it ended up being $350 to $400, somewhere around there. So, it was quite a bit more. The worker was good. I actually did not stay with him because it was just a house we were flipping. From what I can tell, everything seemed okay. It smelled a lot better in there after the cleaning. They came out probably the next day after I purchased the Big Deal. It was quick. They came out right away.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal for Bayside Heating & Air Conditioning. It was $89.95 for air conditioner tune-up and air duct cleaning or just deodorizer.

Smooth & pleasant transaction from start to finish. I purchased a coupon from the List for the diagnostic when my ancient A/C unit suddenly stopped working. I called Bayside, and they sent a tech out right away. He ran a diagnostic, and quickly found the main issue. Of course, my 1997 unit needs to be replaced very badly, but due to several other unforeseen home repairs last year, we simply can't afford to replace everything that needs to be replaced. Once I explained our situation and financial constraints, the tech didn't try to push for any kind of upselling, for which I am very appreciative. He replaced the dual capacitor and made sure everything was in working order. I was quite impressed by the company, and once some other emergency repairs get paid off and we can afford all the new HVAC we need, I will definitely call Bayside to do the job :-)

Our technicians can diagnose a problem and know what condition a system is in, but they have know way of knowing what the customers personal situation is or how long they will be living there.
