Mechanics Plus

It cost about $1,500. I have taken my car there for a long time. They never try to up sell me on anything I don’t need. They do good work, they explain to me what they are going to do, what the cost are. Whatever they give me as a basic estimate, it comes in at or below what they had given me. Most of the time I can get the stuff done within one day or less. In fact, the owner opened up the shop on a Saturday when they are normally closed to take care of my car once for me.

It was very inexpensive. I would give them “A’s” across the board, that is why I keep going back.

I brought my car in early Wednesday morning for service because the Erving of my engine was fluctuated. They kept it for the full day without even calling me. I finally called back and he had no answers for me other than I had multiple problems with my car. I missed Bills phone call to me later that day. So I called the following morning and still got no answers. After calling a second time, I finally got Bill on the phone who described an immediate issue and thought other problems could be handled later. Finally got got my car back late n the afternoon on Thursday. But the revenge fluctuations were still there and he suggested I could bring it back next week to see how it was. I never got an explanation why he just didn't fix it. Friday as I drove my car around and the problem got worse and now it's not safe to drive. I'm not going to use Mechanic Plus. First and last visit here!

I didn't. Contacted them for a quote, and they refused to provide a quote for the service I wanted unless I took the car into the shop. Sounds like they want to try to sell me other things I do not want or need. It was a very simple question to ask how much is a transmission rebuild on my car (I gave them the year, make, and model). They even went as far to say that they could explain it to me if I called rather than emailed. A/k/a "We don't want anything we say to be in writing, so we can deny it later." I would stay away from these guys...and I will.

I have a 1999 Infinity with 250,000 miles on it. I recently moved to Orlando from Texas, where I had a great private mechanic, who did all of my repair work. I quickly learned to avoid new car dealers. I can't afford their prices. Shortly after I moved to Orlando my Infinity check engine light came on. Also I noticed an engine squeal. I’m thinking maybe the bearings are going out on the alternator, air compressor, or power steering motor. I better get it checked out. So I go to Angie’s List and choose the top three mechanic shops and decide to try the closest one to my house. The diagnosis is a dirty EGR valve costing $50 to clean. The squeal is caused by a torn rubber axel boot throwing grease on the drive belts. I was not sure why grease would cause a squeal but I am not an expert. So the cost to clean and adjust the belts is $45. Replacing the rubber boots was a third problem I was unaware of. It did need fixing. I don’t want to pay for new front end steering parts. Anyway a week later the check engine light comes back on and I notice when I roll my windows down, the engine squeal is still there. So I then take the car to the second closest shop called Mechanics Plus. I was able to get right in and got a different diagnosis. The EGR valve needed replacing. This was not a $50 cost, but as they say, you get what you pay for. Next I learn that the squeal is caused by a worn Harmonic Balancer. $130 fixed the problem. The squeal is gone. When I take my car to a mechanic, I want the work to be done correctly. I don't have time to return for issues that are not fixed the first time. Yes the cost was more at Mechanic Plus, but the result was the car runs perfectly now. (I did ask for and get a 10% Angie List discount). Maybe some mechanics don't have a lot of experience with older cars and worn Harmonic Balancers. I had never heard of a harmonic balancer. The point is that Mechanics Plus correctly diagnosed and repaired my car the first time I brought it to them. And for a lot less money than a new car dealer would charge. Thank you Mechanics Plus. It is such a relief to know I can always bring my Infinity to you and then not have to worry about breaking down somewhere on the highway because of a misdiagnosis. Initially took my card to the local Ford dealer to diagnose and estimate repair to AC. They charged $50 to diagnose the issue and quoted over $1000 to replace the leaking AC condenser. They said it would take 6 hours to do the job. I thought their estimate was high so I went in search of a second opinion. I called Mr. Allen on his cell phone (even though I meant to call the business number) and he answered even though he was on the beach with his family. I told him about the estimate from the dealer and he indicated that the work should not take 6 hours. He suggested I bring my vehicle to his shop and he would diagnose it?for free and provide an estimate. My husband took the car in first thing Monday morning and they confirmed the diagnoses relatively quickly and provided an estimate that was almost half of what the Ford Dealer quoted me. They fit the repair into their schedule and we had our fixed vehicle back at the end of the day. I'm very thankful for Mechanics Plus and I will be taking my car there?from now on!

I do not think they're very reputable. They count themselves as being very reputable, but I've caught them on a couple of things where they did some work for me. They did patch work and tried to hide them. There was a switch that would have been costly to replace. I paid him to replace it. He actually broke it when he was trying to take it out and put it back in. So he just kind of glued it. I think his tech did it. I don't think the owner did it. Another thing that happened is, I had an air-conditioner belt that was supposed to have been replaced. It has squeaked ever since I've gotten the car back. They were trying to tighten it, which means, it probably looked good to them and they put it back on. I'm a technician myself and I know that when they get old they just stretch. They may look good, but they can stretch. So, I really, after finding that switch repaired, I really have doubts about whether or not they actually replace that air conditioning belt. They did do the work in a timely fashion, but I would not use them again. Their pricing was fair.

This experience has been fantastic (minus the AC going out)! Bill and his crew were super friendly and didn't rip me off. They pride themselves on being fair and earning customers for life. They now have one with me! I HIGHLY recommend this company!!

Prior to our big move from Atlanta to Orlando, my husband took our truck to the local Midas shop for an oil change and tire rotation. While waiting for the truck my husband was told that it also needed the front brake pads and roters as well as two new tires due to the front ball joints needing to be replaced. I told my husband to wait on the ball joints and get the brakes and tires being that we didn't have the $1400 for all the repairs needed. Their tech said to get to a mechanic as soon as we got to Orlando. Boy am I thankful I found Bill and his crew on Angie's List. He saved me over $600 for a repair the WAS NOT NEEDED. Thanks Midas, I will NEVER take my vehicle there ever again. Bill and Mechanics Plus has just earned my business and loyalty for as long as I live in Orlando.

I have been using Mechanics plus for about a year. I trust Bill and his crew for honest and excellent work ( I live pretty far away). Today I brought it in to be evaluated for some simple work that Mechanics Plus did not do. They fixed it, and gave me an idea of what other repairs need to be done. They did it quickly and politely, without hassle. A customer's safety and satisfaction is most important to them. It's always such a pleasure to deal with Mechanics Plus!!!!

This is without a doubt the best car mechanic company I've ever dealt with. They called me within a hour with a diagnosis and estimate. They had my car ready within hours. When I arrived to pick up the car, I was expecting to pay the agreed upon price of $830. Much to my surprise, once Bill (the owner) looked over the invoice, he realized he had charged me for diagnostics. Evidently if you have them perform the recommended services, the diagnostics are free. So I actually was refunded money! I would never have believed a company nowadays would be so honest! Mechanics Plus is my new "go to" repair service from now on! Honesty and integrity is a rare occurrence in business these days and I appreciate not being taken advantage of as a woman. I highly recommend this company to any and everyone wanting good honest service for a fair price.

It was OK, they seemed busy. They were slow in follow up in regards to how the car was doing.

I got the run around from the dealer, first it was one thing, and that did not work. Schedule again, now a week, and we will see. I checked Angie's List and called to the Bill at Mechanics Plus, he said bring it down to the shop (same day), he could take test drive and see what was causing the problem. 30 minutes later, I am at the shop. Bill and I test drive my truck and he immediately diagnosis the problem. Pretty simple. I asked the Bill to check my brakes, the dealership said I needed new brakes. Two hours later my truck is fixed, no more problems. Bill said that I had about 40% left of service, so no brakes needed. Whole experience went very well, saved hundreds of dollars and a bunch of grief. I am done with the dealer.

It was discovered that the place where we had recently had an oil change had been sloppy, causing the oil to leak and splatter under the hood. Even though we thought it was transmission fluid that would possibly require expensive repairs, Bill found our minor problem and even sent me home with cleaning supplies to clean up our garage floor. A dishonest repair shop would have replaced our transmission and we would have been none the wiser. If you are looking for an honest man to fix your car, this is the place to go, and we will definitely use him again and recommend him to our friends.

I could not be more thrilled with the work performed. All was done in a timely fashion, in fact, faster than I expected. The above and beyond that this team goes to is unbelievable. I was busy and preparing to go to a funeral. In clearing out my car forgot my phone and GPS on the desk at Mechanics Plus. When I got home, I realized my mistake. I knew the shop was closed, but hoping someone was still hanging around, I went back. No one was there, but Bill had his cell phone posted for all on the door. I called and he told me he was anticipating this call....he told me the arrangements he made to return my items. How often does thst happen? Needless to say, I was shocked. But not nearly as much as when the work was completed in a day and I wasnt back from the funeral yet! And the price was almost half of what I was quoted at a national chain. Bill also told me, some of the work that was quoted by the national chain was not needed and he gave me an alternate solution. I know Angies List has a lot of great service providers, but if you are in the Noertheast Orlando area and you are not bringing your vehicles here for service, you are making a mistake.....and probably paying too much. I have been using Mechanics Plus for over a year now I believe. Just never did a review. Bill Allen & Crew are the best, they do quality work and are reasonable when it comes to price. They won't be the cheapest in town because they do good work, but they are also very reasonable and do not overcharge you. I was looking for a trustworthy (hard to find these days) and highly rated mechanic shop to take care of our 2003 Town & Country and they have really taken care of her. They helped me budget for the items that was needing to be done (I knew they were all due to be taken care of......transmission flush, new brake pads front and back, etc etc) They told me which to prioritize, how to break it up, and with each oil change we got something done off the checklist. This most recent work was an oil change and diagnosis of what was leaking, I needed a new valve gasket. Great work and no more leaking! And she runs better and quieter now too! Thanks again, Bill Allen and crew! Excellent work, and thanks to AngiesList again for allowing me a method to find good people out there!

Very happy with everyone at Mechanics Plus. Their prices was 600.00 less than my local Honda dealer and everyone was curteous and professional.

Got car in same day I called. Quickly diagnosed that my #4 cylinder was missing. Quoted me a price to fix which I thought quite reasonable and told them to do it. Car was done in a few hours and running perfect.

Went in to see them about trouble I was having with my daughters 08 Nissan Altima automatic transmission. They told me that there was a problem and the transmission needed to be replaced. A $5,000.00 to $6,000.00 job. They also did some research and found that there was an extended warranty from Nissan for that transmission. They printed out the extended warranty notice for me and they even gave me directions to the nearest Nissan dealer. I took the car to Nissan and they replaced the transmission at no cost to me. Friendly and honest. This is the first time I used these guys and I look forward to a long relationship.

My 2009 Honda Fit with 80,000 miles suddenly started shifting roughly, the engine light came on, and the "D" light on the dashboard was flashing. My Honda had not had any major repairs since I bought it 6 years ago, so I did not know any reliable mechanics in the area. I went on Angie's List and found that Mechanics Plus is an A rated company. They even offered a 10% Angie's List discount, so I gave them a call. Scott seemed very helpful over the phone, and gave me a good impression. The repair quote seemed high at first (over $500) but I was so happy when Scott called me back to explain that they had discovered that only a wire assembly was broken, not the shift solenoid that the car's engine light error code had suspected as needing to be replaced. Therefore, their mechanical savy saved me over $250 for a part that did not need to be replaced! The wire harness repair was done in a very reasonable amount of time, and now the car runs fine again. Since they saved me money and offered a 10% Angie's List discount, $250 is a small price to pay for peace of mind. And their 12 months parts and labor warranty policy is written clearly on the invoice. I am very happy with Mechanics Plus and they have earned my trust.

They showed me what it was, they fixed it and the car runs smoothly. I went for one thing and they discovered another one, which was true, so I rely a lot on them and they did a great job. My car is twelve years old and it runs like new. What stand out the most are the knowledge, professionalism and promptness. Even though I didn’t look for any more quotes, it was great because I even rented a car; and they took me to the rental place thinking that it was going to be twenty-four hours but they called me at 4 pm and told me that the car was ready, so, it was great. I didn’t have to wait. They took care of me like a little baby and my car too.

The engine light came on in my 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe. Brought it into Mechanics plus and had them give my car a complete check up. The problem they found was in the the power steering area. They replaced the power steering pump and power steering pressure hose. They checked over the engine and all else seem fine. We were glad to find someone honest since we ourselves are not experts when it comes to cars.

It went great. Proprietor, Bill Allen, was pleasant from my initial phone contact. Car was towed to Mechanics Plus within a couple hours, and repair was made within a day. Since I was without transportation, Scott, the mechanic who did the work, had my car delivered to my home! I was very impressed and, needless to say, greatly pleased!
