Description of Work: Dr. Don went to our vacation home to diagnose a problem with a refrigerator that was less than 5 yrs. old that had stopped keeping the freezer frozen and refrigerator side cold. He explained there was a fee for just going to the home, which I agree to. He went and thought it was the compressor switch he ordered one and returned to install the new switch. That was not the problem, it was in the compressor, which he explained would be expensive to repair and we'd be better off with a new one. He explained all he had done and then recommended brands to buy and ones to stay away from. He also gave me the names of two associates at a local store to talk with should I choose to use that store. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and caring.

Description of Work: Cleaned and cleared defrost hose which was clogged and causing water to leak into the refrigerator and out onto the floor. He knew exactly what my problem was just by talking on the phone and exactly how to fix it. Very impressed with his knowledge and expertise.

Description of Work: My mother's refrigerator stopped working on a Monday and all her frozen food defrosted, so I emptied & cleaned it out and shut the circuit breaker. I called Dr. Appliance since we had used them before when her oven stopped working. The technician, Eric Rivero, was booked up until the Friday. We made the best of a bad situation & used an ice filled cooler in the meantime. | |Eric arrived promptly and the first thing he did was turn the circuit breaker back on. The refrigerator started working. He checked what he could, found nothing wrong, explained it may have been a power surge in the first place, and if it should happen again not to cut the power but to call him right away. Only by leaving it on would he be able to check the possible source of the problem. | |Our only charge was the $59.00 for the service call, and on the off chance, I asked if he could also check my mother's garbage disposal which had stopped working. I explained that someone else had been there earlier who said it was seized up, couldn't be repaired, but could be replaced with the same model/labor for almost $240 or a better unit for over $525. They had called me to get my approval for the work & I said no. Eric Rivero, on the other hand, got under the sink, tapped/loosened something & got the original unit to work. He said to periodically grind ice cubes to clear the blades. There was no charge for that.

Description of Work: They came to service my dishwasher and when it stopped working about 10 days later they returned and provided me with suggestions for eliminating the problem until I could purchase a new dishwasher.

Description of Work: I passed his name to a good friend of mine after we discussed a dryer problem. He called the Appliance Doctor who solved the problem over the phone at no charge. My buddy wanted to pay him something but the Appliance Dr. refused I WILL USE THIS company when i need a repair.

Description of Work: Refrigerator stopped working, full of food for expected company. Provider showed up promptly, diagnosed problem, made a temporary repair so we could continue to use the refrigerator, and ordered the necessary part(s). He told us up front about how much it would cost. He explained why the refrigerator had probably failed and made suggestions to improve the electrical hookup, which we followed. He was friendly, patient and knowledgeable. We would recommend him highly!
