I posted this in the PPN group, and thought it needed to be posted on my page as well so that locals who are not a part of the group can be properly warned!!!! Do not use Richard's Plumbing!! My toilet was stopped up last week, Monday June 3rd. I had used Richard's in the past and was satisfied with the results so they were my first phone call. Shawn, their technician showed up in less than two hours, which I thought was a great sign. He spent less than 20 minutes snaking out the line and told me the issue was flushable wipes. I thought this was strange and even questioned it because we haven't even purchased wipes in 5 years, after I had been told by Richard's in the past, that flushable wipes clog the lines and aren't actually supposed to be flushed. I should add that I keep a basket on the back of the toilet that someone could assume is wipes if they do not pick up the package and realize that's not what it is, I'm sure Shawn saw this. I paid $352. To my horror, FIVE DAYS and a house full of people later, the toilet stopped up again. This was Saturday, so I knew it would be unrealistic to ask them to come out for free but thought it would be fair to not be charged the additional weekend fee since they were supposed to have fixed the problem earlier in the week. I was told in a very curt manner that Richard's does not guarantee their work and not only would I have to pay the full $352 again (after just paying $352 five days prior), I would have to pay an additional $176 on top of that to come out on a Saturday! That came out to be another $528 for less than 20 minutes of work!!! I was informed, almost chastised, that he could see in the paperwork the problem was the wipes (again, I have not purchased flushable wipes in 5 years) and I probably have more wipes clogging the lines. I then called another plumbing company, Plumbing Today, who not only came within hours, but also did not charge an additional fee to come on a Saturday. Plumbing Today spent almost two hours investigating the problem, removing the commode, and fixing the issue. I was told there were NO wipes found and the problem was that there were roots forming around the ring at the base of the commode. If Shawn with Richard's Plumbing would have done his job and not made assumptions, he would have discovered this during the 17 minutes he was at my house and I would not have had to pay a plumber twice!!! I fully regret tipping Shawn and offering a cold beverage. I will now and forever think of Richard's Plumbing as lazy "money grab" plumbers and will tell anyone and everyone I come in contact with to NEVER USE THEM EVER!!!!

Richard's Plumbing was the cavalry!
They responded at once to our call.
We were complete strangers and they treated us like old customers.
Their communication, professionalism, courtesy, price, and excellent work was far beyond what he had hoped for. Richard's Plumbing is the go-to contact you must have at hand.

I decided to find out why tenant has numerous problem with sewer backing up in tub and handyman snakes but eventually problem returns, So I look on Angies list for reputable company to camera and jet lines. They attempted to run camera down kitchen vent from roof but when it reached the bottom it would not make the turn so they ran snake down vent. When it did same thing they ran smaller cable down but same thing and tub still not draining. Then they ran camera backwards from clean out right in front of house but they could not see anything going that way either. Then they ran smaller camera down kitchen vent and it too was unable to make turn nor were they able to see anything. They said there was a problem with the kitchen drain and I would need to remove the kitchen to get to the vent to repair something that they were unable to find. Then they snaked the tub as it was still backed up and discovered it was full of saurcraut and potatoes--the tenant who was warned before on proper use of disposal; said he thought they could put that down there. The tub opened up and and drained the leaving the sewage residue as it was 7 days we had to wait to get this appointment to get to the bottom of the problem. I asked if we should go ahead and jet the sewer line as it was in bad shape but they were not too enthusiastic about that and said it may break the line. I asked them to tell me what I had spent and how much more for jetting. They said I had spent $250 to $300 and if I jet lines that it would be $200 to $600 additional and may break pipe and of course would not fix problem since problem was ? something in pipe? broken pipe? They did not know.
So I waited a week, spent $365, and that was to camera the sewer to make sure I was not tearing into something without knowing what problem is.....Could it be all the food that tenant was dumping down disposal? They dont think so--Could it be old cast iron pipes that in bad need of jetting? they dont think so...They insist something is the matter with the kitchen drain-vent. Something that the camera cannot see--or maybe the camera and snake would not fit....and now I wonder how they know we went up sewer pipe to correct bath? maybe thats why we didnt see anything?
I take good care of my properties and tenants and I am also a accredited property manager and have been for 3 decades. I expected to lay out some cash and get this fixed and instead now I have no idea what to do next. Am I to tear out the kitchen or bust out the block wall to examine this vent? The two young men were polite and professional but were they experienced enough for me to take these drastic of measures? I doubt it.
I have to wonder if this is common-I certainly have never heard of anyone having a video only to be told they will need to tear out walls or kitchens and find out what the problem is.......

"We appreciate the chance to service your property and I'm very sorry the technician was not clear in his findings. I will attempt to clarify now and if you have any further questions I would be more than happy to meet with you again. What he found is as follows: Upon arrival he assessed the problem and decided that he had to first attempt to clear the line to allow the camera to pass through. He put the cable down the line and it would not pass through so he used a smaller one with the same effect. This indicated that there is a problem at the base of the drain stack under the floor. He then attempted to get a look at it with the camera to verify but could not get a good view. He then attempted to get a view of the problem drain line from a different angle but was unsuccessful. Finally he did clear the drain line with a smaller cable to relieve the stoppage but there was no since in wasting more time and money with the camera because the initial cable and camera attempts already confirmed that the drain line had been compromised and is in need of repair. The decision to jet was ultimately left up to the property owner but, the tech advised against it because it could further damage an already weak pipe that we know is compromised in at least one area and it seemed to be a waste of money. Of course we would like to have done the work, but it would not have been fair to you in our eyes. Finally, what the tech was suggesting was that the pipe should be exposed and replaced. Unfortunately the line runs under the slab of the house. This means you would have to remove the cabinetry to allow the floor to be broken up to expose the bad section of pipe. Also, there is no telling how far the pipe is damaged until it is exposed. Once again, I am very sorry that our technician was not more clear in his findings and I would be happy to come out with him to clarify further. - Thank you - Richard"

They were okay. We were satisfied with them. We were impressed. I would probably use them again. They did what they were supposed to do and it was neat and clean and I guess affordable. They were within the plumber's range as far as price. They were punctual and they were very good as far as responsiveness. I certainly would recommend them. It's good to know that they're there.

"The reason (deleted member name) never heard back from us is because the person he asked to speak to was out sick for two days, I explained this to him when I (Richard) finally spoke with him. We do not have a seperate trip charge for our service, however, we do have a reasonable amount of travel time that is included in the first hour minimum. Our technician did a good job for him and gave him a full hours time at his house, so he paid no travel time. We know this for sure because (deleted member name) was using a timer to keep track of the minutes (seriously). If there was any misunderstanding if how we charge for our service then I am very sorry. We pride ourselves on being a quality plumbing company that is also a great value. He used the coupon from our website and for $100 I feel he most definitely got his money's worth. Thank you, Richard"

I got extremely lucky finding this company, found them on Google and located there website at and quot;Richard's Plumbing Repair.comand quot;they sent out a technician named and quot;Troniand quot; ...very professional stout young man.
Climbed onto my roof and was able to clear an excessive amount of baby wipes from my drains,he actually had a bag on the roof literally collecting them as he pulled them from my line.I do believe he said he took those back to his place of business and showed them that he had in fact set a record with the quantity he retrieved.............very grateful for there quick, price efficient service, will definitely use them again in the future should the need arise!!!! Thanks Richards plumbing my drains are again flowing freely, thanks to y'all.........and a big thanks to Richard himself who called me to follow up and ensure that I had a overall pleasant experience during my repair!!.....Who does that? Kudos to them!!

My wife found Richard's Plumbing on Angie's List. The plumber showed up at the designated time. I cleared the space where the spiggot was located for the water softener. He went through the inventory of parts and told me I was missing a part and I also needed salt. He went to get the items himself. I then had to go to work. When I came back I went to look at the job and saw that it was an extremely high quality job. The home builder (Ryland Homes) had installed the piping for the softener backwards which they were able to solve with no issues. They even put in shut-off valves that did not come with the softener, which will make it extremely convenient for any kind of servicing in the future. I will definitely use them in the future. They are also very military friendly and gave us an great deal. The only suggestion would be to customers. Make sure you have all the parts and are organized and make sure you explain exactly what you need done and if you need any parts. These guys are really good but they are not mind readers so help yourself by informing them.

I called for a quote on my project, and they sent Jose out that afternoon. Jose was very professional and couteous. He explained in detail what he was going to do. He worked most of the afternoon, as it was not an easy place to work in. Jose cleaned up after himself. I was extreamly happy with Jose's workmanship and the project as a whole.

Called because toilet would not flush completely on every flush.Asked what the charge would be for them coming out and was told it depended on what was needed to be done.Person came out and figured the pipes needed to be cleared of roots and used machine to do so.When asked how much the charge was we were told we would be billed and he had no idea. Finally received a bill 12 days later for almost 200 bucks. If I knew they would charged that much I would have gone to the other plumbers I had used in the past.

He's been doing this for 38 years so there is nothing he hasn't seen. The price is fantastic, everyone else wanted $300. In 15 years none of the plumbing he has done for me has had to be redone. He is early for appointments. I'm going to have him come and do another job for me too.
