The worst is last year they had to order a part and they left us in 100 degree weather without air conditioning for about four days. We had to stay in a hotel. We pay an annual fee. They cover all of our appliances.

I am contesting the charge with my credit card company for the service contract (and I will win) and I would advise you all to steer clear of this warranty company - It looks good on paper, but they fall flat when you are in a crunch.
Description of Work: I had ECM for the last 7 years - I had the whole home warranty and I had very few issues in the first 5 years. In the last 2 years however, there has been a complete downward spiral and the service level has fallen out entirely. I had some A/C issues and they came and looked at it and hit me with a "you need a new A/C Unit" - Further, they have a guy there - I think his name is Kevin - he is garbage - He will call you and try to sell you a new A/C unit (like HARD sell) and I explained to him that I could and would care less to get a new unit and I only wanted it fixed... He basically disconnected the call and I had to get a seperate company out to fix the issue (It was a fan motor and not a big deal) That was last year - This year I have an issue with the top floor A/C unit and now... Kevin says they are too busy and cant get someone out for 4 days? Are you kidding me? This is what I pay for? I canceled... called my own guy out and he fixed it the next day... Description of Work: I have had a service contract with ECM for over fourteen years. From the first phone call to the present day, ECM has fixed any problem that I have had in my apartment. Their personnel have always been very helpful and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this company to anybody that needs a reliable service contract.

+ -1 moreI was only going to shop around to get estimates but John Longden indoor comfort specialist sold me on my first attempt to buy a new air conditioner as he was so complete in explaining all that ECM had to offer me in their price!!! I was sure that I could not find a better deal and after two hours of John answering all of my questions and informing me of how much ECM offered I was sold!!! Thank you John and ECM!!!

+ -1 moreSix years ago I had and air conditioning system installed by East Coast Mechanical. Since then I have noticed that one, infrequently used room, was warmer than the others. After converting the room into a sewing room and using the room more, we noticed the room was quite warm. We asked ECM to check it out. The technician they sent out determined that a supply line going to the aforementioned room was crushed. The technician felt that this might have happened during the initial installation of the system. He took pictures and e-mailed them immediately to Headquarters with his thoughts. They instructed him to replace the supply line. I could not believe that in today's world that a company would go this extra mile and fix a problem that "may" have happened during their initial installation 6 years ago!!!! Way to go ECM obviously a customer for life.
Description of Work: Evaluated situation and replaced crushed air supply line to one room.

+ -1 moreThey try to resolve the problem and sometimes it takes a little bit, but they try to find the part for it. They're pretty good that way. They basically take care of a lot of stuff. I compare the price so it's good.
Description of Work: I am currently using the services of East Coast Mechanical. They came probably a couple of months ago as I was having problems with the microwave. I have an insurance with them that takes care of all my dishwasher, dryer, range and all that you pay once a year.

+ -1 moreWe have a service contract with ECM and their repair visits (mostly for minor plumbing problems) have always been prompt and professional. But when our A/C stopped working, they gave us exceptional service -- their technician (Robert) not only fixed the immediate problem (burned-out blower motor), he also spotted and fixed several other gotcha's that would have given us problems later on. Despite the late hour due to bad weather, he was thorough and answered all my questions. Thanks Robert and thanks ECM!

+ -1 moreWe had a problem with our dryer. It was making an unusual noise. Called ECM and got an appointment in a very reasonable amount of time. Technician Hector came to do the service. He was as friendly and pleasant a serviceperson as I'd met. From his smiley greeting at the door to his most pleasant attitude as he searched for AND FOUND the problem, to his cheery goodbye, it was an absolute pleasure working with him, so much so that my wife requested that he come back to do the installation of the replacement part.

You actually get to talk to a human very quickly when you call in with very little hold time, and scheduling a service appointment is done courteously and in a timely fashion. The technicians are knowledgeable and arrive on time. Having recently purchased a new-to-us house which came with a competitor's policy, we will be switching to ECM as soon as that policy is over. By comparison, the competitor has VERY long wait times on the phone and is constantly referring you to their website to schedule a service call---and the page doesn't always work. Can't wait to get back to ECM!
Description of Work: This is a for a service contract on two rental properties in Florida so the contract is for one year and includes plumbing, electrical, appliances and a/c.

+ -1 moreI found out about this company from Angie's List and I had seen their trucks in my area and didn't realize that they offered service contracts as that Is what I was looking for was a service contract for my home which is 31 years old. The information on the website was easy to understand. I called as I had questions and the customer service as great, lI had occasion to call for service and they came the next day and came on time. I took the policy with no deductible and it gives me peace of mind to pay monthly and know that I am covered.

+ -1 moreTech was nice but knowing this service would produce more moisture/water to drain out , tech did not do quick easy flush clean out of drain line so 3 weeks after service unit backed up and flooded room again. ECM manager said tech did nothing wrong and this was separate service needed. ECM manager did not offer anything to help and very poor knowledge & help. Will not use them or suggest them to anyone
