Very well.  He had to deal with another contractor laying marble on the floor which was a frustration for him, but he dealt with it very professionally.
Response from GGL & Sons Construction, Inc.
"It was a pleasure to work for you. Thank you so much for this report and your recommendations and the resulting engagement of GGL and Sons Construction by many of your neighbors for their own projects. You and your neighbors are great hosts. You, along with fellow condo owners, the management of the buildings and the guard downstairs, made it comfortable for us to serve you."

They quoted their first official estimate at $68000, and they told me that they could do it under $64000.  It was finally estimated at $60000.  They sent me pictures of the condition of the apartment.  I live in a Texas apartment, and it had a big fire.  They pretty much said that they couldn’t just fix things.  They had to replace everything and rebuild the whole thing.  It was a little bit of a strain.  It might be the right thing, but I didn’t use it because it was not worth it.  They were very clear that they couldn’t just fix things because they were thinking that in a couple of years things would break down.  They didn’t want to have that liability.  I thought they were honest and good, but the price was just too expensive for me.  If other people were considering getting an estimate from them, I would I think it is worth doing it because they will give one the high end of the spectrum.  It clearly looks like they know what they do.  If one wants to get an estimate to have something done of good quality, it is probably a company that people should use.  I will not get an estimate from them again in the future.
Response from GGL & Sons Construction, Inc.
"COMPANY RESPONSE: We are GGL and Sons Construction. Not P & T. We DID estimate the full reconstruction of the condo that was totally consumed by fire. We're glad no one was hurt and the damage was limited to the particular condo. It was unfortunate for the member that the tenant made a bad mistake with the oven. Burned out the kitchen totally and very badly damaged the rest of the apartment. Even the windows were broken. Heat and smoke damaged everything. Full reconstruction includes electrical wiring and plumbing supply and waste lines, framing (studs), drywall, bathroom shower walls, tile, flooring, lighting and plumbing fixtures, appliances…. We would have loved to do it but the property value was not there and the member chose another path. It was a pleasure speaking and dealing with the member. Best of luck to the member in the future. Sincerely, George Labbad."

This company is amazing.  This was my first remodel experience, and the condo I purchased needed to be gutted.  Not only very trustworthy, put spent time to help me understand what needed to be done, why, and in a cost efficient manner.  Found solutions to things that I wanted which were not practical-- with a result better than I could have dreamed.  The designer is amazing, patient and has wonderful vision.  The construction manager and his team were so eager to please and made the work a pleasant experience.  They were not the least expensive quote I got-- but I am so glad I chose them.  People are amazed when they see my new home-- it is amazing.  Hire these people-- you won't be sorry!!!!

The gentleman was very nice and prompt, but he was incredibly overpriced.  Without even discussing the job, the gentleman viewed the area and gave a price of $44,000.00.
Response from GGL & Sons Construction, Inc.
"Our files show no record of a formal meeting/estimate with this member. The member states that we did not even discuss the job. It is not our practice to give a price (and how can anyone give a price) “”without even discussing the job””. All our estimates are formally prepared with great detail and emailed to clients. The scope of work in this case is unknown – since it was not discussed. This report seems unfair. At GGL and Sons Construction, we are proud to use higher quality materials, experienced labor and high-end workmanship. We also bring electric and plumbing services up to code with licensed and insured subcontractors. Our clients enjoy our skill, knowledge, and experience on every job and we understand if these factors are sometimes not in a homeowner's budget."

It took a while for us to get things started as my sister was out of the country and we had to get her Ok for things to be done but they were very helpful with their suggestions, very communicative and responded to us right away with any questions we had.
Response from GGL & Sons Construction, Inc.
"Thank you for your comments. It was our pleasure to get your sister’s home repaired and ready for her to move back in. We are always available for any future work. One call to GGL and Sons Construction is all you need. We look forward to painting the exterior of your house. You will be very happy with the results. Your home’s exterior will be new for at least 15 years while your neighbors look to repaint every 7 or 8 years. Your homeowners’ Association will never send you a letter to repaint the exterior."

They were too expensive.  He was very professional and friendly.  I was very comfortable having him at my home.  We ended up using someone else because GGL was so out of the ballpark.  I don't know if I would call them again only because it was just crazy.
Response from GGL & Sons Construction, Inc.
"Sometimes a second meeting is a good idea to see if a client and a contractor are on the same page. Our records show no formal estimate having been prepared in the above name. So the initial meeting may have just yielded a ball park figure without exact specifications. The scope of work from each contractor bidding on the same job will always vary, especially if the next contractor is given a different scope of work than the previous contractor, making the previous contractor’s initial verbal estimate too expensive. At GGL and Sons Construction we pay attention to every detail and take care of unforeseen conditions without extra costs or even mentioning to our clients. Our methods of work are sound and long lasting. We pay attention to structural issues and all building codes. We set great standards and focus on customer service. Our experience and skill as well as those of our network of licensed and insured professionals are valuable assets to our past, present and future clients. Payroll, payroll taxes, liability insurance and workers compensation insurance and other government regulations are reflected in our pricing. All regulations are designed to protect clients. From time to time we lose work to entities that may not be working under all regulations, codes and requirements. When you bring the right people, the right things get done!"

I called this company, using the telephone number on Angie's List, and left a voicemail.  I explained in the voicemail that I got their number from Angie's List and was calling because of the many great ratings members had posted about them.  However, I never received a call back.
Response from GGL & Sons Construction, Inc.
"We hope the client will call again. We answer all emails, phone calls and voicemails. If one voicemail was missed or does not come through - and it happens every couple of months on a cell phone line - we apologize. We use a cell phone because we want to answer calls when we are on a job site, on a ladder or on a roof. There are two other phone numbers available in the contact us page on our website. We are happy to hear from clients who call a second time even if they're sure they left a voicemail. We are always grateful for a second chance."

They were very good and responsive, they came on time, and they were neat.  I am still waiting for the itemized bill that I asked for, but there were no problems.  I think the price was high but they were the only company that I could find that would do everything.  I didn’t want to have to hire a stucco man, a painter, etc.
Response from GGL & Sons Construction, Inc.
"I'm so happy you are satisfied with our service. Please call on us again. I trust you received the itemized invoice. If not, I’m sending it again. The leak repair was not charged to you. Only a diagnosis was intended. We are happy we fixed it. You are worth the time and expense. Our guys were there anyway with materials and tools. What’s another few hours for a great Angie’s list member? We are glad you called on us. One call does indeed do it all. Please let us know about your decision regarding the hurricane shutters. Regards, George."

Do not care to get an estimate from this company.
Response from GGL & Sons Construction, Inc.
"We are always reluctant to give estimates on the phone. We cannot force a visit if we are not invited or if the client refuses to set an appointment. We insist on viewing properties but once in a while a client wants to have an idea of price during the initial phone call. We decline such pricing practices of pricing over the phone, We do not recall the named member. We recall speaking to a young lady who was very courteous in avoiding an estimate appointment, maybe for security reasons. So the one time we give a ball park figure over the phone we get this report possibly by a third party. Very unfair. We always go in person to check for conditions that need repairs or painting or remodeling. Our attitude is the most cordial and jovial. We love to meet new clients and are eager to make and attend appointments."

It was wonderful to have my initial inquiry call answered promptly by George, the owner himself.!   He referred me to one of his employees, Vince, to take care of my various jobs.and said Vince would call me when he finished the job he was on.  He said I could call Vince if I did not hear from him.  Vince did call and we arranged a date for him to come to my house.  Vince arrived promptly on our agreed-upon date, gave me an estimate and proceeded to complete the jobs.  Vince did an excellent job, he was very pleasant, neat, competent and thorough!  I will definitely call him again and am pleased that he is also a plumber.

George and Greg and team did a great job, by far the best contractors I've ever dealt with.  Work was done on a second home and I was not around to supervise work.  Just gave George the key and did not worry about a thing.  Whenever I called (any time of day) George would pick up on first ring.  They went above and beyond dealing with permits.  The price quoted was the price paid, they did a few extras at no costs and everything looks great.  Give these guys a call and get great work, fair price and most of all honesty and integrity.

The work will definitely be done the way you want it done. Fussy clients are the best clients. They know what they want and that makes it easy for us to give it. So call on us when you are ready."

The overall experience was extremely positive.  George is a professional.  He is prompt and responsive.  He went beyond what we asked of him.  His design associate, Gail Coletta, is very knowledgeable.  She understood the intricacies of designing a remodel for our small kitchen.  She developed a very efficient design that would meet our needs.

Both George and Gail took our quote request very seriously.  They took us to see an example of their work on a similar sized kitchen.  The kitchen they showed us was beyond reproach.  It had been immaculately installed, and maximized the function of a very small kitchen (like ours).

Unfortunately, we are not able to move forward with our kitchen remodel at this time, so we cannot give a review of our own job.  However, we can say that George will listen to your needs, promptly respond to questions, and deal with you in a friendly and professional manner.

Response from GGL & Sons Construction, Inc.
"It was a pleasure to work with both of you and develop a plan for the remodel of your kitchen. We are glad you liked our previous work. It is just as important to us to receive great reviews from potential clients such as you about work we already finished for others. We look forward to someday meeting again and getting a great project done for you. Keep an eye on us. We'll be there for you. George."

Tearing down the old tile, they cleaned it out and poured a new bed for the shower.  At the same time they repaired the water damaged outer wall and perfectly matched the existing paint color.  The gutter, damaged since Hurricane Wilma, was replaced and painted.  The big task was re-tiling the bathroom.  The crew foreman, Greg, had recommended a natural stone color and carefully measured the various space dimensions, which, us being home repair novices, was invaluable when we went to Home Depot to purchase the tiling.  When time came to put the shower tiles in, the workman asked us if we wanted it in a diagonal pattern to contrast with the standard horizontal/vertical wall tile, which he didn't have to do--we appreciated being asked what our choice was.

Our porch screens, shredded since Wilma three days after we had moved in Oct. '05, was replaced and for the first time in years we had a completely enclosed porch.

Today, three two weeks from the start of the job, GGL finished the tiling, sealed it against moisture and installed the shower fixtures and new toilet.  Frankly, the bathroom is beautiful and the nicest room in the house.  We plan to use GGL for our next big repair job.

Response from GGL & Sons Construction, Inc.
"Wow, this is a first -- awesome pictorial of the work. We appreciate your comments and thank you for your review. You were both wonderfuls hosts during the two and half weeks of work. We look forward to serving you again. We're just a phone call away. All the best thill then, George and Greg."

They were very nice - at first -- but they simply did not know what they were doing.  Once they were paid they really didn't care .

"Repairing the knockdown on the ceiling was a very small part of a larger project including repairing and painting the master bath ceiling damaged by a roof leak, painting baseboard molding behind a heavy fish tank stand, and repairing and painting part of the family room wall. We know what we are doing and we explained the proper repair procedure. The customer was inwilling to pay for a proper repair and asked us to patch. In fact prior to commencing work the client accepted our estimate including our statement that the scar would be visible."

From the beginning George responded quickly to my request to meet for a quote, did not require a payment to have a quote like several other companies I contacted, and was very professional and personable.  He worked with the condo commandos so I never had to get involved which was invaluable.  The project turned out great.  The only downside is he said it would take 2 to 4 weeks and it ended up taking 8 weeks.  And he was supposed to provide pictures of the repair work that I can submit to the insurance company which I am still waiting on.  But other than that I was very happy with the way he managed the project and I would definitely use him again.
Response from GGL & Sons Construction, Inc.
"Thank you for your kind comments. The lead time on the cabinetry was longer than estimated due to higher volume. It seems that the economy is picking up and service and product providers are scrambling to get jobs done. It's wonderful. The pictures were sent. It was a pleasure working on this project. You are a great client and you made everything easy. Call on us for the next repair/remodel you need. We look forward to working for you again."
