"Dear [member name removed] Thanks for the great review and mentioning juan's name.It helps my guys get installation requests. Thanks Robert Tile and Carpet of Altamonte"
"Dear (member name) No rebuttal from me.My installer just tried to get it done before he left.We had unforseen prep work that needed to be done.It just slowed us down. But you are absolutely right. It should have not taken that long to do your job. I truly am sorry for the inconvenience I may have caused you.Your overall rating of "B" was too kind. But in the end your bathroom did turn out beautiful. And that is always a main goal with me,that your end result was just how you pictured it. I remain Sincerely Yours Robert Mello Tile and Carpet of Altamonte"
"Dear [member name removed] Thanks for the review. However I feel I deserve an A for all of the of the review. I stored your product for over a year and did not charge a storage fee, which you mentioned. But the day of installation we discussed you would move the furniture, when we got there hardly anything was move. That should have been an additional $ 300.00 which i did not charge you for.Punctuality you wrote a B. I sent you a docusign that clearly states that on the first of installation we would be there between 8-12.We were there by 10:30.As far as the 5 min repair we had to do we had to wait for another box before doing .Once it got here, next day we were out for the repair.Which took all of about 30 m because we had to move some furniture. With all of that being said I feel that I and my guys are deserving of an A in all categories.I am sure that when you read my response you will agree and change the review. I remain sincerely yours Robert Mello Tile and Carpet of Altamonte"
"Dear (removed member's name) thanks so much for the great review.they are always needed especially when they are an A. Robert Mello Tile and Carpet of Altamonte"
"Dear [member name removed] We did have a few hiccups on timing. But in the end we got the job done and done right. To me that is what is most important. Thanks for the review. Robert Mello. Tile and carpet of Altamonte"
"(member name removed) Wow what a nice review..I feel like your a professional blog writer. All of wording was so nicely put. This review from you was more than i expected.I do take pride in my knowledge of the industry. This review from you was more than i expected. So many people come in with disinformation. With me I truly want to educate everyone, even if they choose to not purchase from me. Thanks Robert Mello Tile and Carpet of Altamonte"
"Dear [member name removed] thanks so much for the great review.you guys made it fun to transform your bathroom..when we can go in and people understand this is a project,it helps us to do our very best to make you happy.you and your wife were so easy to get along with and as the process went each step you always praised our guys.Their response to me was " nice customer or nice people " And the end result will always be more than your expectations. So thanks so much for everything. Robert Mello Tile and Carpet of Altamonte"
"Dear [removed member name] wow what a review..this was about a 40k project..and i must say it did go pretty smooth. But you were a delight to work with, which made the whole process run better. If I could get my customers to understand that whatever they project into the process reflects on the outcome of the whole job.whatever came up that was unexpected, was not the end of the world, but rather a challenge for a solution.you and i worked it out and you realizing that unforseen stuff comes up and to get it to a point of satisfaction is a cost that you and i worked out that was fair for you and my workers. Some how people think that unforseen prep work is free or that it is included.you never made my guys feel they worked for free..you were very kind to them, which made them feel very comfortable in your home. That is why your complete remodel turned out incredible looking.if you could post pics on angie's list for all to see how beautiful of a job we do> thanks robert"

"Dear [Member Name] I am so sorry that the price for your shower remodel was more than you expected..The coupon was designed for a tub surround. And you wanted a complete shower remodel, which required new pressure valve, new pan, build new curb,,install of durock and install tile, complete demolition, new durock plus the tile you picked was 3 times more expensive, with decos and listellos. This was basically a min 5 day job. If for any reason you find it cheaper to do the job with someone else,I will try and match it. I remain sincerely yours Robert Mello Tile and Carpet of Altamonte"
"Dear [removed member name] I see you got around to doing that review...yeah...we as a company really need those. thanks so much Robert"
"Dear [Member Name Removed] thanks so much for the outstanding review.I pray that your health restored. And look forward to seeing you again. I Remain Sincerely Yours Robert Mello Tile And carpet of Altamonte"
"Dear [member name removed] totally not fair on your review.I showed you what the special was concerning the tile which was on the special and the special called for in stock tile..But you wanted 4x8 black and white subway tile and wanted installed on a subway look. This was a special ordered tile and installation cost more. And you lived 35 miles from the store.I went to your home without you purchasing the coupon strickly as a courtesy to you.Why didn't you call me first to discuss your unhappiness. We maybe could have worked something out.I hope people that read this, feel the same way i do that this is an unfair review about me. Robert"

I went as far back as June 1st and your name does not appear anywhere. My grades for the Angie's list bid deal of getting back with customers within 48 hours are very high. They track my every movement to ensure you are getting the best possible service from the provider. Are you sure you have the right service provider? Please check your records. I Remain Sincerely Yours Robert Mello"
"Dear [member name removed] Thanks for the additional review on the carpet job also. Robert Mello"
"Dear [member name removed] Thanks for the review.Sometimes i give up on customers doing a review. But you came through for me. Thanks Robert Mello Tile and Carpet of Altamonte."
To make a long, sad saga short, it was true renovation nightmare for us. Lowes, with a few hiccups, proved to be the bright star in the whole event. They were reliable, accommodating and professional throughout. Mr. Mello and his subs were another story.First, let's deliver the good news. His carpenter, Tom Kirby and his counterman, George Jijon, were excellent. They were true craftsmen, dependable and a pleasure to deal with. Tom rehung our cabinets in the garage, put in all the baseboards, crown molding and mixed the dry wall. George did the granite countertops, which was more than just a basic install - it was a work of art. We were well pleased with their work.
His first plumber, who came to install a laundry room sink and reconnect a washer/dryer- was another story. He showed up near 7 pm on a Saturday night as a "favor" to Robert because the floor people, who had removed the appliances and were supposed to reinstall them, hadn't shown up in three days. He came without the necessary supplies (my husband had to take him on a shopping trip to Home Depot which was luckily still open) and left us with a small flood two days later when the hose unattached from the water connection he had made to the washer. The next plumber, Jim, seemed competent enough but was very unhappy and unaccommodating about having to make more than one trip to complete the required work. He ended up sending his son and someone who appeared to be a "trainee" to install a waterline, dishwasher, faucet and disposal. After seven hours, when the dishwasher and disposal were still not working, we finally asked them to leave. In all fairness, they had complained that the electric wasn't done properly and, as it turned out, they were right.
This brings us to the electricians. Their total job consisted of moving some existing outlets, installing an outlet for the disposal, installing the microwave, stove and oven (electric in place), installing new light fixtures over an island and counter and reinstalling an existing fixture. Based on prior experience, we estimated the whole thing should have taken no more than 5 hours max and should have been completed in no more than 3 visits max. Well, about 8 visits later and who knows how many hours (in the double digits to be sure) we finally had a finished job. That is, after we had to throw one of them out (Justin who showed up one Saturday at 5 pm with his wife in tow for some unknown reason). He was almost totally incompetent, as well as totally unreliable. The "master" electrician, Phil, was slightly more reliable, but nearly everything he did had to be redone or undone. Thank G-d for the newly hired help (Rick) who Phil had met in an electrical supply house two weeks earlier. If not for Rick, we would probably still be without lights in the kitchen.
Last, but not least, we come to the floors. Flooring, we should mention, is Robert's main business. We had approximately 1100 sq ffeet of old hardwood to be removed, as well as a small area of tile in the laundry room. We had previous water damage from hurricanes and floods and knew there was a possibility we could need further treatment to the concrete once the old floors were removed. The demolition went fine, but sure enough there was black mold which required clean-up and an additional sealant had to be applied. We were also told that we would not be able to walk on it for two days until it had "cured." What we were NOT told was that it was going to cost and extra $2000 dollars (there was no prior discussion of options or costs) and that the fumes were absolutely sickening. We had to stick towels and sheets under our bedroom door in a vain attempt to keep the stench out. After 3 days, no one had showed up to start installation of the new floor, although we did receive an email from Robert with the astonishing new charge. Robert and Oscar (the installer) were now suddenly unreachable by phone. By the 4th or 5th day of unreturned calls and sleepless nights, we lodged a complaint with Angie's List. Suddenly, Robert became available. After much heated discussion, the bill was reduced and Oscar came back to work.
Our dealing with Oscar were, for the most part, frustrating. While his work was good, he was totally unreliable. Part of this was Robert's fault, as he double booked or over booked Oscar and his crew for jobs. This was fully admitted later on, as if it was an unavoidable part of doing business. So what Robert had told us would be a 5 day job, turned into weeks. Weeks of no-shows, jobs half done or needing rework. Oscar was also supposed to do the baseboards, crown molding and installation of the laundry room sink and washer/dryer. Most of this, which he did not show up for anyway, had to be given to Tom (a blessing in disguise).
As for Robert, to say he is nobody's idea of a general contractor would be putting it mildly. He is a nice man and not an unreasonable one. However, he is a terrible manager. He identified resources some of which were unreliable and incompetent, and then left us to, essentially, schedule and manage them ourselves. The quality of work ranged from the sublime to the ridiculous, but we would have to rate the costs as fair. Overall, we would be hard pressed to recommend Robert for any total renovation work. Having said this, we would not, however, give him an F rating, but an overall rating of C (with the benefit of time).
"Dear [member name removed] and [member name removed] Let's start from the beginning.I matched a bid that you already had from another store about 10 days before. When we finally contracted is was a week before. We started your job on a monday and in one day ripped up 1200 sf of existing. After ripping up the floor we discovered high levels of moisture in the concrete,You told me about the construction leaks you had in the past.We contracted for regular glue, but it could change to a moisture block glue.you said you wanted it done right.I personally got up the next morning and drove to 3 of my distributors to get the glue needed to perform the job correctly. You already knew there would be a difference in costs before hand. This delayed your job.no fault of ours. What you failed to tell us and why you were pushing us to get done is that lowes was coming with your cabinets that thursday. No way could we have gotten 1200 sf with a moisture issue and install. So we start working on the tile for the kitchen to get it ready for cabinets, while we wait for the moisture block to cure. Now thursday arrives lowes tells you that are 2 weeks out before your cabinets are. This i believe caused most of your frustration which you took out on my guys. You picked on oscar quite a bit.Which gets the least complaints of all my crews. As far as the plumber goes. They are not my guys. These are people I know in the industry,i Gave you the numbers you set it up. So many times we were set to come out to your home and finish up.Always delays..not on our part.WE had other customers who needed our services,we could not just put them on the back burner, because of your delays..not fair to others. You had both Tom and Oscar do work that was not contracted for.My guys being who they are accommodated. Then you complained about it and didn't like it and had them do things over again. These were products you purchased outside on your own and had my guys install. You did not buy the best of products.Every installer that was in your house was totally frustrated at the end of each day with you guys. Each portion of the contract was to be paid when that portion was done.No phone calls from you. We had to repeatedly call you to get our money. In the end I made a final inspection with you to collect payment, when i left i apologized for things i felt we not even my fault. But i am always one to extent the olive branch. On top of all this we have had several friendly conversations.I thought we had become more than just customer and contractor. And this is why i am very surprised at this review.I truly am sorry you feel this way. We tried really hard in you home to please you guys, especially with all the confusion with all your contractors that were involved.Too many cooks in the kitchen i guess. I remain sincerely yours Robert Mello Tile and Carpet of Altamonte"
"Dear [member name removed] i am a little confused here.I went to your home before you even purchased the angie's list coupon. You had alot more work than just what was on the coupon.I went over all the charges with you at your before i left.I told you think about before you purchased the coupon. The next day you purchased the coupon.Through the message center you requested an invoice.Nothing changed from what we discussed.I sent you an invoice and waited for a response, long before my much needed vacation. You called the store during my vacation and my staff told you i was on vacation. You responded with a statement that you were going on vacation.I have been waiting for you. Please do not cancel the order. It really upsets me when my customers are not happy over a misunderstanding. Please respond through the message center Thanks Robert Tile and Carpet of Altamonte"
"Dear [removed member name] Thanks so much for a great review. You guys were also great to work with. That makes our job much easier and things do go smoother.Looking forward to doing future business with you again. Thanks Robert Mello Tile and Carpet of Altamonte"
"Dear [member name removed] We spoke after that we got everything taken care for you im sorry for the installer not calling you if you have any more questions or anything please feel free to call and ill take care of it for you thank you again for allowing us to show you the guys will do a good job again im sorry for the lack of communacation.we have taken care of the problem my installers will be there on time thank you again lynn"
"Dear [Member name removed] Sometimes the rains especially in the summer time can delay installs and it is a domino effect. But every year we seem to manage. Thanks for your understanding and the A review. Robert Mello Tile and Carpet of Altamonte"
"Dear [member name removed] First let me thank you for the A review. There may i little misunderstanding in your wording of the charges.I never charge people to go out on a measure. That has always been free with me.But my installers do charge a fuel charge for any distance beyond 15 miles and in your case that did apply. As far as the coupon goes, you chose a vinyl on line from armstrong website and it was one of their top of the line products. You also had 2 bedrooms of carpet, installed with new pad.I charge the regular retail price for material and labor, then deducted your coupon.Hope this clears up any confusion. Thanks Robert Tile and Carpet of Altamonte"
