I think Wendy does most of her business in bridal alterations. As far as I can tell, she is super responsive to her bridal customers. Since I was having normal clothing altered, she consistently told me she could not do my alterations because of her bridal customers. I was totally ok with that, and the alterations on my clothing kept getting pushed back and back. And back. It has been three years now and she still hasn't finished my alterations. In the meantime, I've gained weight, lost it, and gained it back again. I've pretty much given up on her and I guess she can just keep my clothing. As far as I can tell, she is responsive to her bridal customers but forget it if you have normal alterations. She should let her customers know that she really doesn't have the time for non-bridal alterations.
My husband and I took several pairs of pants to be hemmed based upon the positive reviews we had read on Angie's List. We made an appointment to have the alterations done and another to pick up the finished pants. Both times we had to wait 20-30 minutes before Wendy was ready for us. The second time, she still was working on our pants when we arrived, even though I had called to confirm the appointment.
My husband said that his pants were and quot;OKand quot;, but mine never looked even. I did not notice it when I tried on the finished items because I felt so rushed in doing so. In fact, both my husband and I felt rushed and sandwiched in between other customers for both visits. I did not take my pants back for further altering because Wendy's shop is not particularly close to our home and because I had no reason to believe that a return visit would be any different than the first two.
Wendy may do a terrific job on wedding dresses, but I would not take another simple alterations job to her. Too bad, I really hoped that I had found a good seamstress based upon her reviews.
Wendy had given me a time estimate of 2 weeks and she called twice to let me know how things were going - once to tell me that the fabric she needed had arrived, and once more to let me know that, due to an emergency job, my coat would be delayed by a day or two.
I picked up my coat 2 days later and am very pleased with both the quality of workmanship and the reasonable price for all the work involved. The inside of my coat looks brand-new - Wendy even re-attached the tags! The coat was made in Ireland of Irish wool tweed, has lots of sentimental value to me, and is probably my favorite article of clothing. I'm so glad to have it back in such beautiful condition!
Wendy herself is a warm and charming lady, who is a delight to do business with. She kept me informed during the job, completed it in a timely manner, and delivered a finished product that was both professionally done and reasonably priced.
I have already recommended Wendy's Professional Alterations to several friends and am glad Angie's List offers me a wider forum to sing her praises!
