Upon notifying Washington Marina that I was departing, they claimed they could not refund the balance of my annual $2,700 payment until another boat was placed in the slip with an annual rental agreement. Since most of the boats are transient or seasonal, that is unlikely to occur. I am very disappointed that instead of courteously reimbursing a long-time customer, as a stable business would do, Washington Marina is maneuvering desperately to keep the money with their shell-game of "seasonal," "quarterly," and "annual" contract terminology. The rental contract (aka "agreement") deserves mention, as it's exceptional length and shifting of all responsibilities to the boat owner is unlike any marina contract I have ever encountered. To date, Washington Marina has not reimbursed any portion of the annual fee or deposits. So, my attorney is proceeding.

"It's unfortunate to see this. The Washington Marina Co. has been proudly serving recreational and commercial Boaters’ for sixty-three years (since 1951) and we enjoy an excellent reputation and longevity because of our good customer service for the past six decades. Mr. [member name removed] has been a slip customer with us since 2008 and advised us he was selling the boat, after he had signed a 12 month license through March 31, 2015. We have been using the same slip license agreement since 2004 and Mr. [member name removed]has signed it for the past six years without objection. Our slip license clearly states no refunds; however we offered to give him a partial refund when someone else came into the slip. To date, the slip is still empty. Furthermore, Mr. [member name removed] has had service work done at The Washington Marina on seven different occasions since April 2012, and even requested assistance in correcting a trailer problem resulting from his purchasing and installing incorrect parts in May, 2014. He has thanked us many times (in writing) for taking good care of his boat."

I have had problems with this motor for more than two years. Ken's Marine worked on it at least 5 different times and couldn't solve the problems despite more than $2500 in tickets -- kept stalling under load and wouldn't get my 24' center console fishing boat on plane. Lake Anna Marina took a month to tell me that they'd dropped their diagnostic tool and someone had backed over it so they couldn't do the work for me!
I trailered it nearly 50 miles to Washington Marina. Tony was the mechanic and he's an absolute gem; knowledgeable, kind, and importantly totally knows his stuff!!!Washington Marina is the only 5 star yamaha certified dealer in the NoVA area and if you have a Yamaha it's worth the haul. I live near Fredericksburg and these guys got the job done!!! They needed time, tho; they have a busy facility and took several months for the whole engine rebuild; but it's been a month now and its running like a clock!!
Definitely go there and ask for Tony.
