Remodel Washington DC

Dear potential renovators of the DMV area, I have renovated three other houses in DC - one was an entire gut renovation, which included a separate basement unit that was built to code, and I have never dealt with such an unprofessional, uncommunicative, disorganized group of contractors in my life. I debated whether or not to post this review because we are not even close to being done, but I am so desperate to get them to respond to me or to do what theyve promised, that Ive come to a public review space with the hopes of compelling action, as well as to serve as a warning to everyone in the area. Where to begin? Alex is the owner. He came to our home back in Feb/March. We had good rapport. I was optimistic. Their prices are good. We already had a separate architect do our drawings. We just needed permits. Once those were readyâ ¦ the team at Remodel was not. Our house sat without anyone working on it for 3 solid weeks. And then once there were workers here, it was one or max two people with no project manager. No foreman. Just random people theyâ  ve likely subcontracted out in our home. Red flag. While we were technically assigned a PM (Randy) to manage the project, he was NOWHERE to be found. Ever. I met him once upon signing of the contract and then a cumulative total of 4 times between May and when he was taken off my project in August. What transpired between May and August? In terms of progress? Demo - yes. All the required rough ins were eventually done. But it took 4 months for that to take place. Why? They never had a crew ready to come in. Where is the plumber? I dont know - maybe he will come tomorrow? The electrician? He had a family emergency. Okay, is there someone else? Not sure. THESE are the answers we were given. The crew that has been here to build the interior of our home has legit changed over 4+ times. I have no idea who these people are. I send emails and texts asking questions - I get NO ANSWERS. No one thinks I should know what is going on in my own house. Due to an overall lack of communication between the workers and what weve communicated to Alex or Randy, they have had to redo things. A lot of things. I have never seen a consistent lack of people just SHOWING UP TO DO THE WORK, a lack of communication from the owners (Lana and Alex), and a complete lack of project management or even just regular ol oversight. We have had official meetings and talked all of this out. Ohhh Randy just didnt know this and that. We promise we will have four guys there at all times, as well as a PM. (There is ONE worker here now.) The new guy they put on our project was here for a month now Alex would be managing it. I have sent texts and emails and have made calls. Alex has not responded. There is zero regard for the state of my house. They leave trash everywhere. My entire backyard had grass, where now there is none. I have three small kids; they dont give a crap. There are wood chips, random nails and screws, tools, trash â  all left out everywhere. Inside and outside of my house. They leave the side gates open; I have a dog. She has gotten out twice. I have asked them to please shut the gates, otherwise come and go as you please to no avail. There is about a half inch of water sitting in my master bedroom because they did not install an exterior door correctly. Still just sitting there (day 3). They broke one of our dressers. They got construction debris on my business clothes. They have broken dishes. They broke through the first floor and put a massive hole in the basement ceiling... and just left it like that covered with some tape and plastic! It took a month for them to patch it up. No one cares! It is really unbelievable. Go elsewhere. Wish I could.

this firm recently completed a minor remodeling in my condo plus a major renovation of my kitchen. They were on time and under budget. Their employees are super talented and conscientious. The quality of workmanship was superb, and I would definitely use them again for future projects. The kitchen renovation was a real knockout. And looks beautiful. They also communicated well with my interior designer.

The team at Remodel Washington DC was great to work with.. They completed the roof replacement, installed gutter guards and did some stucco repairs. They were professional, cleaned up after themselves, on-time and a fair price.

We asked Alex and Svetlana to help us reimagine our small and outdated kitchen and they definitely delivered. This included refacing our cabinets, installing new countertops and several new cabinets, and moving our peninsula to provide us ample space to maneuver while cooking. They also worked with us to remove a structural column in our living room that opened up our entire floor plan and provides a nice sightline to our beautiful new kitchen. Lastly, to really tie it together they refinished our floors. We worked with Alex and Svetlana's highly-skilled team led by Jose for the entire project. We really appreciated the continuity of the team and felt that they understood our style and preferences. There were a several elements that required custom carpentry and they did a fantastic job. This is an incredibly talented team and great company to work with.

I am very impressed on how neat and the quality of work that was done in my whole basement remodel. Everything was done according to the pre construction meeting. I am very pleased on the great work and new living space created in my basement. Best of all it was done in a very quick amount of time so I can use the space for the holidays.

My experience with Remodel Washington DC was wonderful! Alex, Svetlana, and their project teams were flexible and accommodating to my changes and schedule. We are repeat customers and Alex and Svetlana continue to do excellent work promptly at very reasonable prices. This time in addition to window replacement they also did some outside painting of metalwork, inside waterproofing and finishing of our basement apartment and painting. The work progressed rapidly without delays and their crew always kept things very clean and dust to a minimum. They work collaboratively on discussing options for solving problems that arise during any remodeling of an older building. We recommend them highly and will be using him again in the future.

We needed to create a new basement apartment entrance under the front porch of our historic row home in Washington. The job required significant excavation and concrete work due to the slope and location. We could not be happier with the work performed by Alex and Svetlana's team. Alex and Svetlana line are a real pleasure to work with. They were flexible and informative in the planning and offer this multiple options. They were flexible with changing the project while it was under way, both addding an extra task and deleting two tasks. The work occurred on schedule and the cruise that they sent were efficient, friendly, and very good at cleaning up the work site every day. This was a house built in 1939. They were knowledgeable about older houses, honest, on time and did a great job. The hardwood floors looked brand new, as an example.

Great job was done on my fence. It was done exactly like the other side of my yard that was already fenced in. Landscaping steps were installed as well. The workers were there everyday early and stayed late. Very pleased and the work was finished before the deadline.

Alex and Svetlana, and their crew have done a fantastic job. Besides fully remodeling our kitchen, they also installed windows and doors on two floors of our house and installed new tiles on the fireplace. The quality of the job is impressive. Alex is very detailed oriented and very easy to work with. Whenever we were unsure about a certain part of the project or decided to do something a little bit differently, he was patient and always made sure that we were always satisfied. Alex is also very skilled and inventive. He can solve any problem that unexpectedly arises. For example, we brought our windows and doors from Europe and we realized the installation instructions were missing. The crew successfully installed all of them but adjustments to the mechanisms were need it. Alex spent 30 minutes and figured out how to adjust everything.
