George was great.  He was able to come out on pretty short notice when we discovered a big leak inside. He was thorough and professional when explaining the repairs we needed and laid out several options.  He brought a big team on the day of the repairs, so they got the job done quickly.  We found another leak near the original issue a few months later and George came out to take a look and fixed the issue at no additional cost. Highly recommended.

I met with both owners (Georges).  The nature of the work to be done was explained.  Other options were explained.  I was given an estimate and the opportunity to accept their services.  Upon acceptance, the workers (George and 2 helpers) arrived promptly the next day, worked diligently, completed the job and cleaned up after themselves. The 2 owners reviewed the work with me and sought my approval.   All in all, it was a very pleasant experience--these men are courteous professionals.  Several neighbors sought their cards.

G&G was very professional and responsive.  They were timely and completed the work in just under one full day as promised, and as others mentioned, did a few other repairs along the way.  I received two other quotes but G&G was the only one who fully addressed all of my concerns and provided me the confidence in their ability to do the work.  Their quote was a little higher but worth the tradeoff in the execution.  George oversaw all of the work and had no issues showing me what the workers were doing or explaining the details.  -- I would highly recommend them for their responsiveness, trustworthiness, and ability to do the work they promise.  

I contacted 4 roofing companies through Angie's List.  G&G was the first to respond, and the 1st to view the roof.  They were the most friendly, timely, responsive and worked with me on the price.  They arrived on time, completed on time, left no mess, and were very pleasant and appreciative of the business.  It was a pleasure having them replace my roof, and I highly recommend G&G.

George I and II came and provided me with an inspection of the main roof & the porch, George II provided information in terms that were understandable. He also provided information about my dated skylight, e.g.,explained the current problems - irregular size,
etc.  Gave me an estimate of cost to replace the skylight and details of ow it will be fixed onto the roof.  Also provided detailed information on the condition of the main roof (good), problem areas noted, and methods to correct each area.
On 9/26, reported promptly with crew. Porch roof needed complete replacement - previous roofer did a shoddy job and cut corners.
The new costs were within my original price range. George 1 was familiar with my previous roofer and confirmed my concerns about the quality of that company. 
 All work was completed within one day, the workers left the area clean. Any questions I had were answered patiently and in easily understood terms.   I had a pleasant experience and I am satisfied with the service and my new roofs.
I will also recommend G&G to others.  George, his son and grandson were delightful and I will use them in the future of other needed services.

My wife and I were extremely pleased with G&G and the work performed. Great communication throughout. very transparent, respectful, thorough. George and his son arrived on schedule the day of the inspection. He pointed out potential problem areas and walked us through what the work would entail. He was courteous, responsive and answered every question fully and at length. One of my expressed concerns was gutter debris and he deftly talked me out of wasting money on gutter guards based on my type of roof, etc. I solicited quotes from 2 other AL-listed companies. G&G's quote was competitive, falling just shy of the most costly of the three quotes. I decided to to go with G&G as I felt it was the best value for the money and I liked the fact that G7G was  family-owned business. In fact, the day the work was performed, George showed up again with his son. He also came with his father, also named George, who established the company years back. All three were there throughout the project supervising their 4-man crew. They took the time to educate me about my roof, how to take care of it, etc. I was really pleased with the way everything was handled throughout. it's unfortunately all too rare to find a contractor who does as promised and takes pride in their work. G&G even went beyond this by trimming back overhanging branches that wasn't even part of their job quote. I would highly recommend G&G to anyone looking to maintenance or repair their roof. The father-son team of George Martin, Sr. and George Martin, Jr.  of G&G Home Improvements did an outstanding job for us correcting a skylight leak.  George Martin, Jr. came out the same day as my call seeking an estimate (within 2 hours) and inspected the skylight and roof.  He diagnosed the situation as not a problem with the skylight but with pooling of water under the shingles that abutted the skylight.  After providing an estimate and getting my authorization to proceed, he had his crew at my house two days later to do the repair; he recognized the urgency of the situation that I did want anymore leaks if we got rain. 
    Both George Sr. and Jr. were at our house for the repair and supervised the work.  They were very careful to ask us about when we wanted the crew to start so as not to disturb us or our neighbors.  They arrived promptly at 9:30 am and all work was completed by 2 pm. The job entailed removing the old shingles, replacing roof sheeting, installing a drip edge and then the new rubber roof system.   George Junior inspected the site and left the roof and our back driveway clean.  George also provided before and after pictures as well as a description of the actual work done.
     What was particularly impressive is that in the course of being on the roof, G&G discovered that the original roof construction had not been finished properly by the original builder/roofer so G&G's crew installed wood supports and rafters to straighten and strengthen the fascia (wooden bands under roof line) and sheathing.  G&G bought the additional materials and did this work without changing their bill (i.e., at no extra cost to me).
     The Martins are knowledgable, skilled and very customer-friendly. It is a pleasure working with them because they have integrity:  they are telling you what repairs they would make if it were their own home and they were paying the bill.  They have been in the business for a long-time and know the DC/Maryland area and the roofing issues we see here very well.  In the course of three days, a very fast time from call to completion, my roof repair problem was fixed. I highly recommend G&G Home Improvements. I learned about them through Angie's List, and I was very pleased. Their reputation and outstanding reviews on Angie's List are well-deserved.
 

George Martin runs an excellent company in DC.  It's a family business, and he clearly takes much pride in it and his work.  He was extremely responsive, friendly, and polite.  He explained everything about what he would do and why.  He was present for every aspect of the job.  They thoroughly cleaned up after the job and were respectful of our home.  Although it's too early yet to attest to the durability of the roofing or whether the job has solved our problems, the work went smoothly and professionally.  I felt like we were in great, experienced hands, and so I have high hopes that time will reveal that I was right!

George and his crew were fantastic. They came out promptly and were very friendly and knowledgeable. It was the second hottest day this summer and they worked hard all day with no complaints. I would definitely use them again. George was wonderful to work with and I have not had problems with the roof since.

Everything went perfectly.  I called G&G and they were able to schedule an appointment to come look at the situation and give me an estimate within two days.  George (Bud) arrived when he said he would, and looked both inside and on the roof to assess the situation.  He took pictures on the roof to show me exactly what the problems were.  He explained how he would fix the problems clearly.  He also gave me a general assessment of the shape of the overall roof.  He gave me the estimate before he left.
Once I decided to go with G&G, I called to schedule the work, and they were able to shcedule me for that week (even despite the July 4th holiday).  On the scheduled day, George and his crew arrived promptly and got to work.  He oversaw the entire project, staying on site and participating in the work.  He took before and after pictures and provided those to me by email.  In addition to the skylights and fan fixes, they also put an aluminum paint coating on the roof, which helps protect the rubber and reflects sunlight. 
George and his five person crew were highly efficient, completing the work in about 3 hours.
Since the work has been completed, we have had a storm with heavy rain and wind.  We had NO LEAKS.  I am very pleased with their work.

The work is very good.  I doubt if the roofs will need any work for years.  The team was skillful and worked together efficiently and cheerfully.  The owners explained everything to me before and during the work.  In addition, the "description of work to be performed" in the contract is detailed and comprehensive.   The work is worth the price and I feel secure and happy with the result.  I would definitely use G & G Roofing again and recommend them highly.  

I contacted G&G and they were very responsive.  On the day of the initial consultation, they made an inspection of the roof and offered an honest assessment of what I needed to have done.  During the consultation, George Martin, Sr. asked how I heard about his company.  He immediately offered me the Angie's List discount once I told him that I found his company using Angie's List.  I was very glad that he asked since I completely forgot to mention how I found the company.
On the day of the repair, G&G were prompt and got straight to work.  They fixed the downspout and roof box gutter.  They installed duraboard insulation to the entire front porch roof.  They also installed a galvanized steel s*** stop to the perimeter of the front porch roof.  They repaired several large holes and cracks on the main roof of the house.  They coated the main roof of the house including flashing and firewalls with asphalt aluminum coating.  G&G explained that this fix will help my energy bills especially during the hot DC summers.  
We had one of the first major thunderstorms of the Spring roll in last night and my front porch stayed completely dry.  No leaks!  Having the roofing issues resolved has been a relief.
I'm very grateful to G&G and would recommend the company to a friend.

i got three estimates to repair a leak in one fo my skylights.  Mr. Martin was extremely responsive and showed up to examine the roof within a day or two of my call.  He was knowledgeable and had photographed the issues with all the skylights from the original installation, and also a few other problems he noticed at the fireplace and a seam.  He provided a detailed bid that addressed all issues, but was still the lowest.  I had a tiny leak a day or two after the repair, and Mr. Martin was back at the house as soon as the weather permitted and fixed that.  It has been more than 60 days and i feel much better when we have a heavy rain.

I called G&G to request an estimate and got an appointment within a couple of days. Owner George Martin came to my house to provide an estimate. I'd gotten estimates from G&G and another company rated highly on Angie's list and chose to work with G&G because they provided the most thorough plan to fix my roof and at the lowest cost. G&G identified the big bubble full of water right above where I was getting leaks, which the other company overlooked, and G&G advised replacing my distressed shingled rear roof with more-appropriate modified roofing, whereas the other company advised simply sealing the existing roof's flashings. I was impressed by George's extensive knowledge of roofing and felt very comfortable that he knew how to do the job right. When G&G's estimate came in at the same cost as the competitor who'd proposed a less comprehensive repair plan, the choice to work with G&G was easy.
George and his team completed the job just a few days after we signed the contract. George was on site with his team for the job. His company pays attention to quality; some examples of this: they selected good quality pressurized wood to replace the rotted out wood; they used a galvanized steel drip edge rather than the weaker aluminum; and they torched the flashings up further than the previous roofers had. When they made repairs to the main roof, they did an extremely thorough job; during the job they identified and sealed problem areas above and beyond those they?d committed to in their initial proposal. I was impressed by how much work they?d done, and they did it all for the price originally quoted.
 
Since I am a relatively new home owner and no expert in roofing, I appreciated that George explained to me in detail how my roof was built, the problems it was facing, how he was fixing them, and how to maintain the roof long term. He met up with me after the job to update me on how the job had gone and show me pictures of the work that had been done.
 
I definitely recommend this company and will use G&G again if I need roofing work in the future. G&G is an old-school roofing company with several generations of roofing experience, and they?ve kept their quality high and prices fair. They?ve worked on embassies but prefer smaller residential jobs. As a home owner, I?m glad they do.

I called Mr. Martin and told him my problem. He was able to come out for an estimate the next day. He seemed very knowledgeable  and confident that the work could be done in one day. Mr. Martin arrived ahead of time and he let me know exactly what his crew was doing and he even showed me the progress of the job. He also repaired a few things that they discovered while performing the repairs and fixed those as well. He also showed me before and after pictures and I was please with work. Mr. Martin was very friendly and professional and he really pays attention to detail and quality workmanship.

Great experience overall. G&G is a father and son owned operation, and I spoke with both of them on the phone at various times, but dealt with the younger George in person. Both were very friendly, professional, communicative and responsive. I got a very good vibe from them and when their quote came in for the exact same scope of work nearly $2K below another company (also highly rated on Angie's List), it seemed like a no-brainer to have them do the work. They performed the work just four business days after we made a verbal agreement, signed the contract and put down a deposit.
The work looks great, from what i can see, and they helpfully showed me pictures before and after so I would know what we were talking about (the dormer parts of my roof aren't clearly visible from the ground). They really appear to be super-organized and professional. I recommend them highly.

G&G gave a good price, showed up on time, did the work on time and cleaned up.  They even repaired an item that was not in their list of obligations and did that on time as well.  I would recommend G&G for any job they take on.  I plan  to hire them for our next need. They know their business and have the best interest of the consumer in mind.

G&G Owner, George Martin, stopped by on Tuesday, 10/30, to follow-up on a phone call from the previous evening.  Monday, 10/30, was the day of hurricane Sandy and our roof experienced some leaking through the drywall and recessed lighting.  During our phone conversation on Monday, we explained the problem to George and he advised to poke a hole through the ceiling where the water was building up and place a bucket  underneath.  This worked well for us, allowing us to control the leak and avoid further water damage spreading over more of the drywall.  On Tuesday, the next day, George came by with a coworker and identified a portion of the exterior roof as the likely culprit in causing the leak. He grabbed a ladder from the truck along with some type of waterproof sealant and applied it to the cracks/holes.  Quick and easy for him; he didn't charge a thing, $0.00.  I especially appreciate that he was riding around the neighborhood, making stops, within hours after the worst weather conditions passed.  I would certainly recommend him in the future and plan on using him again as well.

G & G  responded to our inquiry immediately and gave us the best bid whereas other the other bids we requested slowly trickled over many weeks. They were extremely flexible with the date as we had to reschedule a number of times to accommodate the insurance estimator. 
During Hurricane Sandy our ceiling appeared to start leaking, which I thought was the result of the roof leaking. I sent an email to George and his team and in no less than 3 hours they were at our house assessing the issue. As it turns out the roof was just fine - but our gutters were sagging as a result of siding work we had done. 
George and his team are honest, fair, and do a great job. I would use them again in a heartbeat and I highly recommend them to anybody!

George and George were fantastic to work with.  I made my determination to use them based solely on Angie's list reviews, and am delighted that I did.  First and foremost, many roofers will not entertain repairs for a flat roof or make it seem like quite the issue to even consider repairs.  Based on the other reviews, it was apparent that G&G had significant experience in this area and had even done work on the homes nearby to mine and had experience with other homes equally as old (100+ years).  I knew when I purchased my home (through my home inspection) that I would likely need some minor repairs which is why I contacted G&G.  George came out and walked the roof with me, giving me advice on patches and repairs needed before a leak ever occurs.  Once George got up there to make those repairs and with the intent to coat the roof, he determined that it would be much more advantageous to replace the entire roof.  He determined it was approximately 17 years old, and to do repairs for approximately $1500 would not justify the expense for only 3 more years of life.  So, I went with the full roof replacement which will last 20 years.  George came to the house to complete the total job within 4-5 days of our initial discussion.  George could not have been more personable, professional, and patient - explaining to me several times exactly what repairs he planned to undertake. And, as he got involved in the project, he immediately identified any additional issues that required attention and incorporated them into the project.  He ensured that as much as possible, he mitigated any low points on the roof to avoid water collecting in any particular areas.  Additionally, I coated the roof with the aluminum (silver colored) roof coating to reduce the heat that would be generated in the house.
I trust George's judgement implicity and really appreciate his insight and expertise.  It is apparent he has been doing this for a Long time, and coupled with his father's experience (who worked jointly with him on the project), I was completely comfortable by the longevity of their business and their reputation.  Without reservation, I would Definitely recommend using G&G for any roof repairs or replacement.  You can take comfort in the quality of the workmanship and I have no doubt about any issues emerging, but, if they did.. I am confident that George would return to address them immediately.

I had a small leak that was causing water to spead on a top floor ceiling. 2 other contractors I contacted gave me estimates of the work to be performed which were either too extensive or bare minimal. George & his father arrived at the appointed time on Sat and gave me an appropiate estimate for required work. He did not try to upsell me (which I appreciated) and he gave a fair price for the work he was going to complete. I booked G & G for the job and they completed the work within the week on the scheduled day. 2 weeks later after inspecting the work I contacted George about a couple areas that weren't addressed to my liking and he repaired them both the next day and recoated the entire roof again just to be sure I was happy. I would use G & G again because they stand by their work and are thorough and fair.
