Pascale fielded endless questions from me, and explained everything in the audit in excruciating detail. I really appreciated how knowledgable, available and patient she was. Brendan and his team executed the actual insulation in half a day. They were thorough and efficient and did a great job. Their work reduced our draftiness by 30%!!

They arrived on time, a bit early , which is fine and worked very hard and were always professional during the course of the two day project. They even cleaned up after themselves and I would use them again. I would also recommend them to anyone that needs insulation done to their home.

Description of Work: Energy Efficiency Experts (or "EEE" for short) performed 2 services which is why I did not list an approx cost. Also, I don't remember the actual cost and I don't recall at the moment where the receipt is. Suffice to say I believe that they are worth every penny I paid. | |I live in your standard cookie-cutter 70's hunk-o-junk house and during the winter this place leaks air like a Hummer guzzles gas. It got so bad last winter that the heat pump seemingly ran non stop and condenser unit froze into a block of ice a few times during the worst days. I finally signed up on Angie's List and searched for an Energy Auditor. That's how I found EEE. | |The audit | |Two employees from EEE showed up to perform the energy audit. They performed the blower door test and also inspected every nook and cranny of the house short of tearing up the floor and ripping siding off the house (which would not have been a bad thing since I hate the color of my siding). They took pictures for documentation. I also provided my most recent electric bill (I'm 100% electric, no gas) that luckily has a 12 month usage graph on it so they could compare my energy costs with others in my area. They also asked a lot of questions regarding the house, etc. After 2-3 hours they compiled a report and spent an hour going over the details with me, back-n-forth questions, and suggestions of where I could make the biggest impact on my house's efficiency. They also delivered the full report as a PDF to my email address. | |A few days later I met with Pascale who runs the company. She went over the details as well as supplied me with an itemized quote she has with specific contractors she uses. The total was around $5k for a very big laundry list of things to be done. Now I'm a fairly hard-core DIYer and could probably have knocked out most if not all of the list, but I don't have a spare 30 years on hand. Also, I don't mess with blown fiberglass insulation. | |The Work | |It was an all day project. The independent contractors were managed by Dave (I'm bad with names, I really hope it was "Dave") from EEE so I did not have to explain or direct anyone at all. VERY nice. They managed to complete a LOT of work with very little cleanup for me to do - I'm talking about minor vacuum sweeping because the reality is that no matter how careful you are, air will carry the occasional bit of dirt. I also noticed that they (Thankfully!!) closed our bedroom doors when working in the attic hatch located in the hallway. | |The Results | |I am seriously impressed - and I don't "seriously impress" easily. At the end of the contract work they re-ran the blower door test and we saw a 33% decrease in air flow from outside which dumped me right at the target air flow rate. I have been moving a thermometer around for days now taking my own readings and the house is clearly warmer. I set the temp at 70. The basement would normally hang around 56 which is insane considering there is no door to the basement - it's open air!! Now the basement is reading 65 on a COLD and WINDY day. I call that a "win". The main level previously sat around 67 and now shows a spot-on target temp of 70. The end-room on the main level had the worst insulation and sat around 64, but now reaches 70 with ease. I have not yet finished evaluating the top level. | |More important than temperature is that the house feels very comfy whereas before it felt like the wind went right through the walls. The heater does not run all the time now. In fact, it is not running more often than running now. | |Overall | |Thumbs up and a big LIKE for Energy Efficiency Experts! I'm sure you could find cheaper service - but you get what you pay for, and I am very happy with what I paid for. |

Description of Work: Energy Efficiency Experts did an energy audit of my house. Pascale provided a detailed report with recommendations. I also hired this company to perform the recommended work. The project manager was organized and efficient. Some work was not initially completed as scheduled because the subcontractor had concerns about removing and replaceing some siding. (The subcontractor otherwise did a fine job with insulating the attic.) Pascale immediately took steps to reschedule the siding work so that the job could be completed without undue delay.

Description of Work: Pascale performed a thorough energy audit for the home we were purchasing, and offered helpful suggestions. She found and pointed us to items even the home inspector did not have a clue about. Since Pascale completed her own home improvement projects helpful suggestions were offered on do-it-yourself items to save $$. Pascale referred us to Leonard Davis to inspect the oil burner that looked ancient. We used Leonard's services and that was extremely helpful. Word of mouth advertising works best after all!

Description of Work: Since I bought my house, I have been getting extremely high electricity bills. I finally hit my limit when I got a bill of $370 for a spring month, when I was using no heating or AC, and I was even on vacation for 1/3rd of the month. I called the Efficiency Energy Audit on Wednesday morning and they were able to give me a full home inspection the next day. In the Audit, they checked my electricity consumption, gas consumption and water consumption. Most importantly, they found a leaking faucet outside that I might not have noticed for months.

Description of Work: We knew the energy efficiency of our house was poor since we have been quite cold this winter and the furnace never seemed to be able to keep up with the outside temperature. What we didn't know was what would help and what could be done at a reasonable cost. Among other things, the audit determined how badly our house leaked, where it leaked most, such as at the windows and the gap between our siding and brickwork, how much insulation we had and where it would be most effective to add insulation, and what other things could be done to improve our heating efficiency. But it didn't stop there. The audit examined the efficiency of our electrical appliances and lighting and our plumbing. The report that we got back was one of the most professional I have ever seen. It detailed everything that was found during the audit, what could/should be done ranging from the easiest and cheapest to more costly actions and it even provided possible suppliers and their websites/contact information for the materials and work we would need. It has been extremely valuable.

Description of Work: This was a home energy audit, not really a home inspection. On short notice (2 days) I set up an appointment and Pascale, the owner, came to my home to perform the audit. She arrived exactly when she said she would and spent several hours performing a thorough audit. She performed a blower test, checked windows, doors, fireplace and outlets(!) for leaks. Inspected all appliances including going up to the roof of my condo to look at the heat pump/air compressor. Together we did some minor repairs on the spot. Then she went over her notes with me in person and told me to expect a thorough, written report in the mail soon.
