This work was being done at my son's condo while he was at work. I went there to let him in and supervise the work. The technician came on time and went right to work checking the system. However, he was extremely talkative (but pleasant). He didn't seem to care how much time it took while he chatted away. Later on when he was installing the humidifier, he had another technician come over to help and it just seemed like forever for them to install the unit while they both talked and talked. It took a total of about 6 hours to do this work. That seems incredibly long to me.
I would occasionally show up in the basement, and when I did, the conversation would stop and they would look busy. I asked a question regarding if the opening in duct, which was now sealed over with aluminum tape, was properly screwed in. I got a sarcastic reply back. I also asked a question about the need for the outdoor sensor installed for the humidifier. I knew already that it overrides the humidifier settings when the outdoor temperature gets very low to control indoor condensation. He gave me an answer that made absolutely no sense. That told me he really doesn't understand his work.
I don't know if the quality of work was good yet because we haven't had ample opportunity to use it.
Also, I'm in the process currently of replacing the AC and heating in my own home and have gotten 4 different estimates. One of them was from HARP. They were the only contractor to insist on a single speed fan for the furnace. All of my research and every other contractor pointed to the single speed fan as the poorer option. For this reason and many others, I chose Nutmeg to do the work at my home.
"Thank you for taking the time to post your thoughts about our company on Angie's List. We take all reviews very seriously and use them to help coach and train our technicians. I see we were at your son's house on 5/28/14. There were 2 separate issues there. I can tell you that a humifier install usually takes about 4 hours. That the technician spent 4.5 hrs installing the humidifer alone is very standard. It looks like he got to your sons house at 10:45 and started work on an AC problem. He worked on that for just over an hour and then went to work on the humidifier install. Im sorry you think that was too long and that he was too chatty. From our perspective, we had him scheduled for 6 hours (an average of 2 to fix the a/c and 4 for the humidifier install) on purpose. I'd like to thank you again for your comments and we will take your issues to the technician and use this as a teaching opportunity."
"Thank you for taking the time out of your day to post about your experience with our company. We are so happy we were able to take care of your needs and look forward to doing business with you in the future!!"
He was very neat and clean and wore paper socks over his shoes when he came in the house. I would use Harp again if I have a problem.
"Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to post your experience with our company on Angie's List and for sharing it with your friends. I am glad that we were able to solve your problem so quickly and inexpensively! Please keep us in mind in the future for maintenance, service or replacement issues. Hope you have a great day!!"
"Dear [removed member name], We are SO sorry that you are not happy with your HARP Mechanical experience. As you know from reading our reviews, that is not always the case. I will be honest and tell you that when it does get busier, we do have to prioritize the estimates and who gets their quotes first. In your case, you were looking to have a radiator replaced with baseboard and if I am being honest, it did get pushed back as the heating season is virtually over. That is totally our fault and there is no excuse. We should have gotten your quote out to you much sooner. I am also sorry that we lost the opportunity to do business with you and show you what kind of company we really are. I would also like to thank you for leaving your comments here on Angie's List. We take all comments very seriously, especially the negative ones. We want to learn from our mistakes and your comments today will help insure that what happened to you, does not happen to the next person."
Repairs - are very responsive, can schedule reasonably quickly, answer all questions. Have never needed them to return for a repair.
Exceptional Service - I needed a new blower motor for my water heater - they viewed my video of the problem after the service call, and did a Lot of research and I ended up being able to get the part under warranty due to their information. I, of course, then had them install it.
I highly recommend them.
