transmission began acting up I decided to take it to Wallingford Tire
and Auto as they are local and were recommended by a family member. To make a
long story short, I paid $189 to be told that they don't work on
transmissions and send those repairs out. Had I been told upfront that
they don't work on transmissions I would have brought it somewhere else
and saved myself that "testing fee" as I already knew and conveyed to them what was wrong
with it. The fee they were going to charge was much more than what I actually paid from a shop I could deal with directly, not having to deal with them as the "middle man".
"[member name removed], We service and replace transmissions as needed, but we do not repair internal transmission faults. Because we do not perform internal repairs, we have a relationship with a local transmission repair shop and utilize them for this type of work all the time. We use them as a convenience for our customers as many are not sure where to take their transmission related repairs. By offering this service to our customers they have one stop, here, and they are able to deal with just us, someone they have entrusted their vehicle to while we deal with the technical details of the repair for them at the transmission repair shop. When your truck was here you knew the fault code your computer stored, but that code has a number of different causes from simple service to total transmission replacement with only one cause requiring internal part replacement. Until the fault code is tested there is no way to know the exact cause and unfortunately the problem with you truck was the internal repair issue, not a simple service. As with our other customer’s vehicles, we would have taken you truck to our transmission repair shop and had it repaired for you, to save you the added trip. This service is no charge and would not have added any additional time to the repair. I apologize if I was not clear on that when you were here. Call me so I can resolve this for you.
