Our couch was delivered 9/17 and we paid $200 for white glove service. The handymen did not have the screws necessary to assemble the couch legs. 9/19 another person came, again without screws so was unable to finish the white glove service paid for. I have been reaching out for the last 3 weeks to no avail. Finally today I received an EMAIL offering a $50 gift card (obviously towards Bob's in the future) as "compensation" for the lack of white glove service. I want a refund as it is ILLEGAL to charge someone for services they did not consume!
Description of Work: Paid for White Glove Assembly Services that I did NOT Receive. No refund or acceptable compensation provided.

We bought a small drop-leaf table and two chairs. It was to be delivered and assembled within a week. We received a call giving us the time of delivery and within minutes received another call with conflicting delivery information. We then called the store who didn't know when the furntiure was to be delivered. We then received a third call with new times of delivery. The day after delivery we decided the table and chairs didn't blend with our decor and decided to return it. My husband had to unassemble the table to fit it in the car and we drove back to Bob's Discount Furniture in Farmingdale, NY with the receipt and attempted to return the furniture. The customer service desk said they did not accept returns at the store location and dialed headquarters in Connecticut to have a representative explain it to me. The representative said it was the store policy that after delivery no returns are accepted, rather only a store credit may be issued. We told her the furniture was in excellent condition, we only had it a few days and would appreciate our money refunded, minus any extra delivery charges, etc. After she repeated herself, we then asked to speak to a manager. We were on hold for over 30 minutes when the rep finally returned to the phone and told me the store manager would only repeat the same thing. We said that was fine and wanted to speak to a manager. The manager finally picked up, repeated that it was store policy to not return money after delivery and went on to tell me, "I'm sorry you don't take the time to read what you sign." Wow, talk about customer service. Our store salesperson explained the goof proof policy a number of times but not once explained that once we accept delivery, the item could not be returned. How is it possible that Bob's Discount Furniture is still in business? Apparently, the store policy keeps them in business although the times we were there, the store was empty. Well, after viewing over 20,000 complaints on BBB and an F rating on many online sites, we realized the mistake we made. Thank goodness it wasn't a large purchase. I felt very sorry for the complaints encompassing very large purchases and the dreadful experience these people had to go through. Bob's Discount Furniture is a customer's worst nightmare.
Description of Work: The provider did not accept a return for our furniture. They only offered a store credit and would not refund our money.

I could not be more disappointed. We knew when we were buying at Bob's that this furniture wouldn't be heirloom quality. But we expected it to last at least 5 years! It didn't even last 2. Within the first 2 years the sofa, love seat, and chair started sagging. Even our 50 pound dog practically disappears when he sits on the couch, like it's swallowing him up. They are so uncomfortable I became completely unable to sit on them for more than 1 minute before my back started aching. Now, at around 5 years, the fabric on the sofa is all separated from the backing and peeling off. It's disgusting. The tables and lamps are fine. But the rest of the furniture is complete junk.

I'm going to agree with all of the other reviews; Bob's not only discounts their furniture, but the company also discounts the importance of customer service. Next time I'll pay more at another store if it means I don't have to deal with false promises and headaches. Ultimately it's a waste of time, energy and money.

We purchased furniture from Bob's in Totowa on November 27, 2012 (Less than one year ago). The furniture was delivered in early December 2012, and we also signed up for the "goof proof plus warranty." Per the Bob's website, this covers:1. What is Goof Proof Plus?A- All of Bobs products are guaranteed free from factory defects for 1 year. With the purchase of Goof Proof Plus, your merchandise is covered against a number of accidents that can occur within 5 years PLUS Bobs guarantee is extended to 5 years as well, The Plus is US.We purchased the following furniture pieces:4 Sofas1 Ottoman1 Pub Dining SetWithin one week of delivery, the cushions on the sofa were all pulling, and the fabric was badly misshapen. The spindles on two of the dining chairs had cracked, and the ottoman began to take on an odor of vomit inside. It is disgusting. I called the bob's warranty line, and a representative came to my home (finally) on April 3, 2013. He said he could order replacement chairs for me (however he said this particular set is prone to cracking and breaking), new cushions for our sofas, but that we shouldn't expect perfection because this (his words) "isn't Raymour & Flanigan." While I understand that fact, I do not recall any of the paperwork I signed as saying "your furniture will not hold up for more than a few weeks, since it is not Raymour & Flanigan." He said it might take four weeks for the replacement pieces to arrive. Never came. Subsequent calls to the bob's line leave me with no answers, and again, we have not yet owned the furniture for one year. We have already paid off the furniture in full. Bob's response to this complaint is: Thank you for choosing Bob's Discount Furniture. I have researched your account and apologize that the merchandise has failed to meet your quality expectations. Our records indicate that you have purchased the goof proof plan however, you do not have goof proof 'plus' which was recently launched, May 2013. Both goof proof plans are designed to provide coverage against most types of in home accidental damage. Our technican reported that the there was a "run" in the material of one seat casing on the sofa however, the other three cushions were fine; As a courtesy I will be happy to replace all three seat cores and (1) seat casing however, a replacement sofa is not an option at this time. In regard to the dining chairs, I will be happy to replace the spindels on two of the dining chairs but not a replacement of the entire chair. As for the ottoman which smells of vomit, we are unable to offer any recourse given the length of time the merchandise has been in your home and the various possible causes for the odor.

As soon as I hung up with my sister I called a carpenter, and I was lucky enough to get it fixed that same day! My couch is fine now & I'm super happy. Despite the ripped fabric from the bottom and all the stress I went through with Bobs furniture I was lucky to find a carpenter and get it fixed right away. I decided to take care of it myself and completely forget about this company. It is not worth the stress. Now, analyzing all this, I feel like they are ripping people off. This company is a fraud! Furniture doesn't last for more than a year, and they rub you off with an extra $100 for some ghost insurance! I say if you got to buy something from Bobs Furniture, don't pay for insurance. It's a lie, they won't fix anything! And please note. Aparantly, based on my experience and my sister's experience, the furniture doesn't last for more than one year! So if you need emergency furniture for one year, then I guess it's fine. I feel the need to let people know this because just like I didn't know that my sister went through the same thing, there could be other people with the same situation thinking they are the only ones. Like me! Therefore, if you need to buy something from there, don't give them the famous $100 gift, a.k.a. "Insurance".
Description of Work: Well, where should I start? I bought two couches from Bob's Furniture late June from last year. *mid June 2012 to be exact. Three weeks ago (May 2013) the wood from the bottom of the couch snapped! When I purchased the couch I was told by the seller that my insurance would cover any stain, ripped fabric, broken frame, house fire damages and flood damages. The only thing not covered was body fluids and bugs, and if they couldn't fix it they would replace it with a new one. "That's how much my insurance covered!" Wow, too good to be true! so before we even considered touching anything from the couch we called Bob's Discount Furniture. They told my husband a specific time and day but they never showed up! Of course, they said they did, and they could not find anyone home. What a lie! We schedule one more time so from the time we called to the day someone showed up, we had waited three weeks with the couch standing on one side of the wall, so no one would even touch it. The day came when they had to be at my house to pick up the couch and some creepy man that looked like he had just came out of jail came to my house in a random car.... My husband had stepped out for a few minutes so I was left with the responsibility of letting the man in, without even questioning anything........Bad choice! He went to the couch, ripped the bottom open and said "How the h*** did you guys broke this?" Very politely I said "We did not break it. The wood snapped from the bottom and we don't know why." "Somebody must of jumped on this couch. Things just don't break." He said. "Well, Im not gonna go back and forth with this. My husband called Bobs furniture and they said somebody would come pick it up and fix it." I said. "Pick up the couch? I'm gonna fix this here." He said with an attitude. I was furious, no body from this company had told me this! Not only I had to call 3 times that day, AND they showed up late, but now I had to let this man fix the couch IN MY HOUSE???? Not to mention he had nothing to cover my beige rug! I grabbed the phone and I was dialing Bobs furniture when he extended his hand as if he was going to grab my phone...... "Are you going to call Bob's furniture? he asked. "yes, I'm very disappointed. this was not the agreement I made with the company." I said. --He tried to grab my phone! "Let me talk to them." He said. I backed up, I opened the door and I said "Im sorry, if you need to talk to someone use your cellphone. I'm not going to give you my phone., and I appreciate, if you can wait outside for a moment while I call the company." This man gave me a cynical smile and then walked out of the house stomping his feet like an elephant. He got in his car and he was about to leave when my husband came in the driveway. He saw my face and asked me what was wrong. I said- "this man just accused me of jumping on the couch and because I tried to call Bobs furniture, he got mad and now he is going to leave." My husband tried to talk to the man, to see if he could convince him to come back to fix the couch but he completely ignored my husband and just stood in MY driveway on the phone with Bobs furniture, first he reported that we told him that we did not need his services anymore. When My husband heard this lie, he immediately dial the company and talked to one of the representatives to tell her that the technician was lying. The representative told my husband to wait in the house while she spoke to the technician. So we did. 5 minutes later the representative told my husband that the technician made a report that the couch was not a manufacture damage so they would not fix it. We would have to call the insurance and fix the couch through them...... Through them???!!! I was never told I purchased an insurance that has nothing to do with Bobs furniture! They even gave me the papers and box and all that insurance crap with their logo and name! I was told this was an extra insurance, A SPECIAL insurance from Bobs furniture! what a fraud! I grabbed the phone this time and I told the representative that this was not correct. There was a piece of wood from the bottom of the couch that had snapped from the frame of the couch and there was no way in the world we could have removed the wood from inside the couch. The woman hung up on me! I called again. I spoke to someone else. I had to explain everything again! AND The technician left! I spent half an hour with this people on the phone going back and forth about the problem. I finally lost it! I said "I understand if the fabric is ripped, stained, the couch is split in two pieces, the couch is burned., but if I have to call a licensed carpenter to my house and pay to get this fixed, I am going to ask him for a written report about what he saw and what he fixed and we will see each other in court for fraud, and then you wont need to fix this wood. You will need to return my money in full." She put me on hold and when she came back to the phone she asked me to take two pictures of the couch and send it to her for reviewing. I agreed and we hung up. That same day I happened to call MY OWN SISTER., and I mentioned to her how stressed out I was with this situation. I wanted to die when she told me she was a victim of this same company! 2 years ago she purchased a table through Bobs furniture. A year ago she moved the table to vacuum and the coffee table just broke in one hundred pieces! She called to have someone fix the table, and they kept her waiting ONE MONTH! She got tired of arguing with this company about the table, she even offered them money to get it fixed. One day they showed up (without a company van) and they looked at the table and scheduled another appointment because they did not have the tools and materials necessary to fix the table. My sister wanted them to take the table but they wouldn't. That same day one of the representatives called my sister and told her that in the technician's report it stated that the table was not fixable and it was Not a manufacture defect. My sister got tired of arguing with this people for over 2 months. they played the famous trick on her of the two pictures and the reviewing....she waited and waited and then got denied, until finally she decided to call a carpenter herself and get it fixed. WOW! I never knew!

IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE. I RECEIVED A 5 YEAR WARRANTY JUST IN CASE OF ANY RIP OR TARE. THEY WERE VERY FRIENDLY ABOUT EVERYTHING AND HELPED ME FIND EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR AT A PRICE I CAN AFFORD.
