"Thanks so much and we look forward to cleaning for you in the future!"
I wasn't really looking to set up a regular housekeeping service but I'll be considering it now!
"Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review - we enjoyed cleaning for you and hope that we may help you maintain your home in the future!"
until the end of December
"We never cleaned for this customer, so I am at a loss as to how she can review us. We never even did a walk through or gave her a quote for her home. She called to let us know she had just fired her third housecleaning service, had a long list of complaints about prior service providers, and would not agree to an initial cleaning, although she was adamant that her last service was not up to her standards. Her phone call lasted 30 minutes, as she put our office staff on hold twice so that she could take other calls. When she came back to the phone, she told us she would go to another provider unless we could service her within a week. We could not, and I suspect that is why this unfounded review."
I was very impressed at the thoroughness and at how hard she performed her job. She gave me the full value of the contract.
Upon completion, I contracted with Belle Home Housecleaning to return on a 2 week schedule. I learned that the 4 hour cleaning counted as Belle's initial, minimum cleaning for their scheduled program.
My only issue was that I requested additional time spent on floor tile grout in bathroom and the results didn't seem thorough.
"Thank you for taking the time to review us. We now have the correct directions to your home and we will be promptly on time for your biweekly cleanings!"
"Thanks so much for taking the time to review us! We appreciate you choosing us for your housecleaning needs!"
So, in short, no complaints...
"Thank you for taking the time to review us!"
After our initial review, Belle "fired" us as their client. Apparently they don't like being criticized on Angie's List, and have the luxury of only dealing with clients who give nice reviews. Also, they didn't like that we put the name of the cleaner in our review. Generally in online reviews the idea is to share the most pertinent details, so we didn't feel it was unreasonable to name the cleaner. However we have removed her name because we did like her enough to keep her as our cleaner, and in fact we changed our weekly cleaning day to accommodate her schedule- even though it was a day we didn't prefer.
To be fair, we didn't share all of our complaints about our cleaner with Belle because they were relatively minor (banging things around, not remembering where to replace items, missing certain spots, etc). Still, taken together they were indicative of a certain level of carelessness. We did mention some of these in a gentle way to the cleaner- perhaps we were not direct enough. But overall we kind of felt like it was just her nature and not something we could change- which is why we didn't bring it up to Belle.
As for the other items, I don't recall Belle ever sending 2 cleaners, except for one to learn our house as a backup. We never requested only one person, but we wanted the same person/people every time. I also don't recall requesting a 9am start time, as we would have preferred 8am. We may have had to accommodate the cleaner's schedule- but I have changed the grade in case this was our misunderstanding. However, I have also changed the Professionalism grade to F since I think it is highly unprofessional to fire a client just because you don't like what they say on a review site. We gave what we thought was a fair and thoughtful rating, but instead of contacting us to work things out, they just fired us. Apparently they are not in the business of building relationships- which is evident by the fact that the majority of their reviews seem to be from one time cleanings.
***Original review***
We've been using Belle for a couple of years. Previously we had a husband and wife team who did a decent job, but did not speak English well, which was frustrating at times. We heard about Belle and liked the idea of using a service and not being liable for household employee taxes- and the price they quoted was comparable to what we had been paying. However, we were surprised when they only assigned one cleaner to our house when we thought it was more of a two-person job.
The cleaning was generally good, but we cycled through 3 or 4 cleaners in a period of months- just as someone would get to know our house and we liked them, they'd quit. Belle would assure us they were giving us a solid person and then they'd leave. Some of this is the nature of the business, but we kind of felt that if Belle was a good employer, they would have better success with keeping people. Also, they would sometimes send a new cleaner with no prior notice- we had to tell them to always notify us ahead of time if we weren't going to have the same person. We were fed up and decided that if the next person left, then we would find another service or go back to our previous cleaners.
Fortunately, the last person they assigned has stuck around for over a year. We have some frustrations/annoyances with her but frankly are hesitant to request another cleaner because we don't want to get on the merry-go-round of cleaners again. One of the issues is that she uses a very large amount of paper towels when doing our cleaning- we did mention to Belle that we prefer rags or towels so as to not have so much waste- since we are very environmentally concerned and this conflicts with Belle's eco-friendly message. She did reduce a little but still uses maybe half a roll each time- it just seems to be her cleaning method.
Overall we are lukewarm about Belle and are considering looking for another cleaner- but it's almost like a "devil you know" kind of situation. We don't want a service where we get a random person each time, but most services operate that way and it's hard to find solo cleaners. And I guess you can't even fully trust Angie's List since Belle's overall grade is an A and I would definitely not give them that!
"After checking our payroll records, I verified that we have sent the same cleaner to this couples' home 41 times (consecutively, with one lapse when the cleaner had the flu) over the last several years. We initially assigned a team of two cleaners and one alternate cleaner and when the customer told us several years ago that she preferred one assigned cleaner, we matched her with one cleaner who is very patient, a diligent worker, very quiet, and accomodating, as we felt that would match this particular customer's needs. (The cleaner assigned to her has been with us 4 years.) Her cleaning is always between 9-9:30 a.m. by her own request, and I am unsure why she would grade us poorly on arrival time, as we have consistently been on time to her home and have not had any comments by the customer to the effect that she would like us to come earlier, or later. This customer does not mention any quality issues. We have not had any negative or "lukewarm" comments by this customer to our office or we would have immediately resolved any issues. After reading her review, I am still at a loss as to what her "annoyances" with the cleaner were, outside of using paper towels to clean the toilet seats/under toilets/around toilets. We will of course reiterate to the cleaner not to use any of the customer's paper towels in the future."
"Thanks so much for the wonderful comments! We hope your party was enjoyable and we look forward to cleaning for you again and again!"
"We're glad you have been happy with the attention to detail and the high quality of our cleanings. My apologies about the two rescheduled days over the course of the winter this year - most of our ladies are very hesitant to drive in the snow when it is over a few inches, although half of our staff did manage to get out even in the heavy snow. This winter has been pretty wretched weather-wise (and parking-wise, in New Haven after it snows!) - we're hoping for an early Spring! Thank you for your remarks."
"This customer bought a 4 hour coupon. Because this customer wanted us to stay within the 4 hours, she gave us a priority list of which rooms to clean, in which order. We cannot clean every room, in every home, within a 4 hour period - some rooms, and some homes, require more attention and a deeper cleaning if maintenance has not been done regularly. The upstairs bathroom was the last room on the list, and the cleaner correctly notified the homeowner at 3.5 hours that downstairs needed more attention and, if the cleaner was to finish most of the downstairs, she would not be able to clean the upstairs bathroom. The customer understood and asked her to continue cleaning the downstairs. We called after the cleaning to make sure the customer was satisfied, and her verbatim response was the the cleaner had been "very pleasant and did a nice job." We did everything we could in her home in the 4-hour window and did suggest to her that she would need additional time to remove buildup and clean everything top to bottom."
"Thank you, and we'll continue doing our best for you!"
They call in advance of each visit. On the last occasion, my father in law had his schedule mixed up so when they called and arrived he was out and never answered. They took the time to call me telling me they were concerned about him. That meant a lot to know that they took the time to contact me when they were worried about him.
"Oh, thank you so much for sharing you review - his two assigned cleaning ladies love chatting with your dad and cleaning for him. We're glad he is doing well and look forward to seeing him regularly."
"So glad that you chose us for your cleaning needs - thank you for sharing your review!"
