I hope this helps to save you time and money on finding a good local painting company. I’ve just been through it. And I found a gem, in Norwalk Ct. Here’s my story: I was not looking forward to the interior painting of the house. The idea of being invaded by an army of painters for several weeks was not appealing. And we wanted the whole house painted. Inside. It needed it. Big job. Couldn’t handle it on our own, for several reasons. We figured around $10.000 for the 3 to 4000 sq ft we wanted painted. Lots and lots of trim work and small repairs. We were looking for quality, ethics, reliability and a good price! So for months I looked around the neighborhood, got recommendations and phone numbers, called numerous places (often with no response to my call) and finally decided on 3 estimates from 3 different companies. I liked Patrick Fee from Shamrock immediately. An Irish gentleman, grandfatherly in his manner, reassuring to me. No small talk, no frills, the facts just the facts and the assurance of a job well done. I found him on my own, asking the local Ring’s End in Wilton and Norwalk. He figured 2 to 2 1/2 weeks for the job. I could live...But his estimate came several thousands higher than our second choice. The second company was a HUGE company and I was not impressed by the robot P.R. delivery of their representative. And they estimated one month of work! Yikes. But their estimate was right on target for us. As for the third company, they came once and never sent the estimate. So, I called Shamrock/Patrick back and told him straight out that I liked him best but could not afford his price. He asked how much the other company was offering and, after reflecting for a minute, said he would match the price! On the first day of the job, he introduces the workers who would be the same workers in the house throuhgout the job. They set to work and the result is breathtaking. Patrick came twice a day to review each day’s work. It took exactly 2 1/2 weeks. They were discreet, no loud music, full day work every day. They started at 8 am and finish at 5 pm. Break for lunch. After the first day, I felt comfortable leaving them on their own and thereafter just left them there to do their job. I should also mention that any heavy or bulky item that was on the walls were handled by them. They rehung all the drapes and put up all the pictures that I wanted. When my husband reviewed the work and pointed a coupe of spots that needed more help, Patrick sent someone back immediately.
