I had a terrible experience with a framer. They absolutely destroyed a very valuable print. They wouldn’t do anything to replace it. I wanted to go to the small claims court. I decided that I did not want to bother right now because I am too busy with other things. They are awful. They are dishonest. I gave it to them to re-mat it, and it was a very old print done by an English artist and they ripped the painting off the mat and then gave it back to me with five tears. I saw them when I got home. I called them and brought it back to them, and they admitted they had done it but they didn’t figure they would tell me about it. While ripping it off the backing, they destroyed the signature on the back which would have proven its authenticity; so I could not even prove it for insurance purposes. They admitted totally that they were at fault, but they wouldn’t give me a dime. I paid them $60 to re-mat it. I think it was unethical. Locally from here I had taken a picture of it when I received it and the picture showed that the surface was perfect and then all these tears in it, it is unbelievable. I wrote to the consumer agents here who tried to get them to do something and they wouldn’t. I have done everything that I can to complain. I would never use them again.
