It was mediocre because once we agreed on the details of the work and the price, when they started to do the work then I was told that they will not remove the trees. So, they left the trees there and then they didn't take out all the roots and it was just a mediocre work. That's all.
Arranged for the tree to be taken down. On the day of the job, I received a call at work as the person who came to do the work had never been to the house and didn't know which tree to take down. They also left a HUGE rut in our front yard. When we called about it, they sent someone out who just filled the rut with straw - no additional soil! They also ground out an additional stump without me first approving the cost.
During the removal, a neighbor's fence was damaged and as of this date is still awaiting promised repairs. Several of our arborvitae were damaged by the exhaust form the chipper. The backyard was left a mess and this condition was pointed out to the Summit representative, but there was no remedy to the condition. The subsequent repairs and clean up by a landscaper were costly.
All in all a very unpleasant experience.
"I would like to respond to this Angie's list member. 1. He signed off on a bid before work was started 2. The extra money was for stump grinding; on the signed bid it clearly stated that stump grinding was not included in the quoted price. So yes [member name removed] paid to have the stump ground. 3. Yes a crane was rented for the day. We were able to use the crane on 2 different jobs for the same day therefore saving [member name removed] money because we brought the crane from one job to another."
There was some lawn damage that I feel could have been prevented by putting down protective mats/wood before they moved equipment onto the surface. That said, I was able to repair the holes and reseed those areas for about $75.
I recommended to a friend and they used this provider too for a much larger job and from what I heard they were also pleased.
The crews were professional and courteous. They were well-prepared with bevy of various, sparkling clean, equipment.
Mike called often to get my opinion on each day's work. There were a couple of divots put into the driveway by falling tree trunks but were filled in properly and without question.
They took out some brush piles we'd been building up over the years and, our instruction, left a couple yards of chips, some fire-place-sized logs and left the property impeccably clean. Great experience.
I was worried about a tree hitting the house due to the high winds.
To be proactive, I decided to have them cut.
Mike was able to squeeze me in his schedule before the storm and it was appreciated. A birch tree started to touch the gutter and was a little too close for my liking. Mike and his team was quick and efficient and also removed a small over grown bush next to the house I didn't like.
Mike also said one of the trees in front of my house which was split and wasn't in good shape. Upon closer inspection I realized what he meant. I decided to have it cut as well. At the time I wasn't sure if it was to get another job at our house.
After he removed the split tree he was correct in stating that it was rotted inside and might have fallen on the power lines during the hurricane had I not removed it. I am glad I listened to him. Our town was hit hard, and many people went a week with out power. I didn't want to be the home owner on the street responsible if a tree from my property hit the power lines. I also have hurricane insurance and the deductible was about 10x more than removing the tree so I figure I'd rather take a definite smaller financial hit rather than a larger one with damage to the house.
They cut and removed the wood. They also cleaned up all the leaves and debris from the cutting. It was like they weren't here.
I would use Summit Again and I am considering using them for other jobs that they also do.
