It was mediocre because once we agreed on the details of the work and the price, when they started to do the work then I was told that they will not remove the trees. So, they left the trees there and then they didn't take out all the roots and it was just a mediocre work. That's all.

Arranged for the tree to be taken down.  On the day of the job, I received a call at work as the person who came to do the work had never been to the house and didn't know which tree to take down.  They also left a HUGE rut in our front yard.  When we called about it, they sent someone out who just filled the rut with straw - no additional soil!  They also ground out an additional stump without me first approving the cost.

The bid price  for removal was agreed to and work begun on a timely basis. The workers removing the trees were professional. Subsequent to the removal of the trees additional money was requested by Summit and paid.
During the removal, a neighbor's  fence was damaged and as of this date is still awaiting promised repairs. Several of our arborvitae were damaged by the exhaust form the chipper. The backyard was left a mess and this condition was pointed out to the Summit representative, but there was no remedy to the condition. The subsequent repairs and clean up by a landscaper were costly.
All in all a very unpleasant experience.

Response from Summit Tree And Lawn Care
"I would like to respond to this Angie's list member. 1. He signed off on a bid before work was started 2. The extra money was for stump grinding; on the signed bid it clearly stated that stump grinding was not included in the quoted price. So yes [member name removed] paid to have the stump ground. 3. Yes a crane was rented for the day. We were able to use the crane on 2 different jobs for the same day therefore saving [member name removed] money because we brought the crane from one job to another."

Mike got back to me within hours of my call, gave me a fair price estimate, and arranged for service on the date I requested.  His team were highly professional and we were impressed with the skill they showed in all aspects of the job, and, especially, their use of all safety gear during their work.   I plan to use them again very soon to clean up the greenbelt that runs beside our home.

Owner responded to my call very quickly and was best price of two other competitors.  Did the work within a week and completed it in about a day.  Crew was very professional.
There was some lawn damage that I feel could have been prevented by putting down protective mats/wood before they moved equipment onto the surface.  That said, I was able to repair the holes and reseed those areas for about $75.
I recommended to a friend and they used this provider too for a much larger job and from what I heard they were also pleased.

Mike came to give an estimate on Friday afternoon and said he hoped to squeeze us in this week. They were here at 8:15 Monday morning. All the trees were removed without issue as well as the branches and brush in the back yard. I have already asked to have the stumps removed which was not part of the original estimate. I plan to have them redo my back yard which is mostly weeds now.

Two trees were between utilities wires only 24 inches apart - no problem.  Three big trees were within five feet from the house - no problem. One massive tree had been uprooted in storm Sandy and lay leaning against other trees way down an long slope impassable for big equipment - no problem.
The crews were professional and courteous. They were well-prepared with bevy of various, sparkling clean, equipment.
Mike called often to get my opinion on each day's work. There were a couple of divots put into the driveway by falling tree trunks but were filled in properly and without question.
They took out some brush piles we'd been building up over the years and, our instruction, left a couple yards of chips, some fire-place-sized logs and left the property impeccably clean.  Great experience.

If I had known that Mike would make it so easy, I wouldn't have labored over the decision to cut down a huge fir tree in the front of my home.  After another neighbor's tree knocked out the power to the block for a week during Sandy, I knew I needed to have this tree taken down.  During all my prior research, I kept coming back to Summit Tree and Lawn Care.  I felt guilty calling Summit knowing the tree did not present immediaite danger and so many people had trees down on their homes or in danger of falling.  The lady that answered the call was great.  I told her I just wanted to get on "the list" for tree service.  Within a day Mike returned the call and came to the house to see what needed to be done.  I explained what I wanted, we set a price, and I expected to see him when his schedule allowed.  A few days lated he called and said his crew could come the next day.  I had to work and alerted the neighbors to the work being done.  I arrived home to see all the work was done exactly as requested and everything cleaned up beautifully.  Even my neighbors were impressed with the job and the clean up.  The whole process(1st call to payment) took about a week and I would definitely would use Summit again.  THANKS MIKE!

Mike from Summit was great to work with.  He was in regular touch with me prior to the job and his team showed up right on time on the scheduled day.  There were three guys and they got right to work on removing the large tree.  One reason I chose Summit was that they were the only company that had a special telescoping lift that could fit into tight spaces and wouldn't require driving a truck on my lawn.  It took them about 3 hours to get the big tree down and cut up.  The guys knew what they were doing and not a branch came anywhere near the house.   They also cleanly removed the other branches and trees they cut up. They did leave some marks on the yard from the tires and treads of their equipment and a long indentation where the heavy trunk fell into the grass.  However, I don't see how this could have been avoided and I will just have to fill this in by hand later.  Overall, a very good job.

We liked them very much.  We liked that they did exactly what they said they would do.  They came on time and finished the job on time.  The workmen were very polite.  The work was very complete.  It was a very good relationship.  We got a lot of other estimates and their price was good.

I was looking for tree service the day before Hurricane Irene.
I was worried about a tree hitting the house due to the high winds.
To be proactive, I decided to have them cut.

Mike was able to squeeze me in his schedule before the storm and it was appreciated.  A birch tree started to touch the gutter and was a little too close for my liking.  Mike and his team was quick and efficient and also removed a small over grown bush next to the house I didn't like.

Mike also said one of the trees in front of my house which was split and wasn't in good shape.  Upon closer inspection I realized what he meant.  I decided to have it cut as well.  At the time I wasn't sure if it was to get another job at our house.

After he removed the split tree he was correct in stating that it was rotted inside and might have fallen on the power lines during the hurricane had I not removed it.  I am glad I listened to him.  Our town was hit hard, and many people went a week with out power.  I didn't want to be the home owner on the street responsible if a tree from my property hit the power lines.  I also have hurricane insurance and the deductible was about 10x more than removing the tree so I figure I'd rather take a definite smaller financial hit rather than a larger one with damage to the house.

They cut and removed the wood.  They also cleaned up all the leaves and debris from the cutting.  It was like they weren't here.

I would use Summit Again and I am considering using them for other jobs that they also do.
