Very helpful in general, very through. I would definitely recommend Tiger Home Inspections to a friend.
Tiger is very professional and I would highly recommend them to anyone thinking about purchasing a home.
The team arrived early and had already reviewed the exterior of the home by the time I arrived to meet them, saving me time.
They found a number of items, many minor that were right in front of our eyes - but we had not noticed. They also pointed out some items of concern that needed to be addressed by the seller. They spent the right amount of time, making sure that I understood the items of concern, as well as some items which I needed to keep an eye on.
Overall I am very happy with the service. It did seem expensive to me, but to be fair I don't have many points of reference to compare the price against and I did not have time for price shopping given the turn around time required.
I would highly recommend this company and our inspector, Nick Tragakes, for any inspection. His knowledge, courtesy, professionalism and conduct on the job constituted the best example of good work I've seen in a long time.
Original post:
Our inspector arrived on time and did do a very thorough inspection and found several structural issues. He went around all exterior areas of the home including the roof and windows. We specifically asked if the pitch of the roof was adequate for the newly installed architectural shingles and he responded absolutely, no problem. He did a thorough inspection of the interior as well as the basement. He spent several hours here and believed he did a thorough inspection job.
However, after we moved in we discovered water leaks coming in from various places. I called the inspector in Feb 2013 to report the issue and he did come out with the owner, however I was not informed of their visit so was not able to speak to the owner. I had a very reputable roofer come out to assess the situation and they agreed the grade of the roof was not adequate for shingles but should be a flat membrane roof. I forwarded the reports and cover letter on Feb. 27th, 2013 to the inspector and he stated the owner would be in touch. I have still not received any response. I also reported that he failed to notice that the bathroom vent does not vent to the exterior of the home but actually vents into the attic. Again no response as of this day. These two issue in my opinion as well as the other roofer who came out to do the second inspection agreed that these two issues were very obvious and should not have been missed. To re-do this is now going to cost me 6,000. dollars.
After the inspection he reviewed everything with me, I had a lot of questions during and after the inspection he was very patient and through with his responses. I received the report a few hours later in my email.
I contacted him several times after the inspection to ask him questions, he always took time out to answer my questions.
I would definitely recommend Patrick and Tiger for inspections. I found them on Angie's list.
The next morning, I received the inspection report in my e-mail. It was 22 pages with photographs and documented all of his findings in an easy to understand, useful format that will serve us for a long time.
I would definitely recommend Steve and Tiger for inspections. I found them on Angie's list and wanted to show the list works!
"(deleted member name), We greatly appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback on Tiger and our service provided. And thank you for your high praise! Please contact us if you have questions down the road on your new home."
them a B-rating on pricing as many others may balk at the price for an
inspection, but we believed it was well worth it for more peace of mind and the pricing is not out of the norm.
And I also only gave a B for Quality as he didn't go on the main roof
and was not going into the attic, because the prior owners covered the
beams with insulation and the bulb was out. I would give an A if he
went out of his way to check both of if there was an A- option I would
choose that instead of B. But with all that in mind we still give him
and Tiger an A+ for overall experience.
They were super prompt...
arriving and had already started looking on the shorter side of the
roof and talking to our septic system inspectors (Wastewater Services,
inc. ... also another top-notched service provider) before I got there.
John was very thorough and communicative on what he found. Somehow our
realtor scheduled the mortgage inspector at the same time and when John
noticed, he was careful about his comments to not make it seem like the
house was a wreck, in which it wasn't. Tiger even makes the experience
more proficient, by having implemented a custom computer database
program to help the inspectors write up the reports. So efficient it is
in fact, that John sent the report to my email before he even left the
site.
John was highly professional, which can be refreshing these days.
He was there for about 3hrs as our house is pretty big.
We added a Radon test that required longer diagnostic time, and we got
the results a few days later. Their information definately did help us
understand the house better and to understand what more we needed to have closer attention to.
We would definitely utilize Tiger again!
