We found Bret Benson to be professional, thorough and informative.  He was patient and answered every question that I had during the 3 1/2 hour inspection.  He went as far as giving me a timeline for repairs, service  and replacement of high cost items--a.c., roof, heating, etc...Bret did an outstanding job and I would highly recommend Tiger Group to any one who is need of a home inspection.

This is the second time Bret has inspected a home for us. Both times we have been pleased. He is professional,  detail oriented and explains the "hows and whys" in laymen's terms.

The home inspector was an older gentleman who was polite and professional. Inspector conducted a walk through of the residence to include the attic. Upon completion of the inspection he provided us with a written evaluation. He also emailed it to us which was convenient. Inspector provided us with his professional opinion and recommendations. Overall It was a good experience working with this company.

I had an Inspection with Tim Healey 3 weeks ago and it was great. Tim was thorough, gave detailed answers and wasn't afraid to take the time to elaborate or rephrase/repeat answers for the multiple persons we had present at the inspection. We also followed his recommendation to get a dedicated chimney inspection and that was a life-saver as it revealed handy-man special issues that we wouldn't have caught otherwise!!! 2-thumbs up for Tim!

The inspector was a little early but was able to get to work right away. he walked us through the entire house as he did the inspection, showing us why our garage kept filling with water (broken sump pump) as well as items that were a potential fire hazard. He made recommendations for our electrical system, which was aluminum currently, as wlel as areas in the house that may have had water damage or were otherwise not up to code.
Very helpful in general, very through. I would definitely recommend Tiger Home Inspections to a friend.

The inspector did a thorough job and talked us through everything as he went through the house. He answered questions in a helpful, friendly manner and explained clearly what the inspection was (and was not) looking at. His submitted the full report within 12 hours of finishing the inspection.

I arrived at the property about 20 minutes prior to our scheduled appointment, John was already there and another inspector was setting up the radon test. John walked me around the outside and explained what he saw and answered a few questions. Most of the home inspection focused on the basement area, but John answered all of my questions and offered a lot of information I wouldn't have thought to ask. I received my radon report a few days later. I ended up purchasing the house, I have been in it for almost a month and haven't found anything that wasn't covered in the inspection report.
Tiger is very professional and I would highly recommend them to anyone thinking about purchasing a home.

Alan, the inspector arrived at the house before we did. He was extremely thorough and knowledgeable. He gave us his phone number to call him with any questions that may come up.

The team was able to accommodate a very quick turn around request which was appreciated since I was traveling for work the next day.
The team arrived early and had already reviewed the exterior of the home by the time I arrived to meet them, saving me time.
They found a number of items, many minor that were right in front of our eyes - but we had not noticed. They also pointed out some items of concern that needed to be addressed by the seller. They spent the right amount of time, making sure that I understood the items of concern, as well as some items which I needed to keep an eye on.
Overall I am very happy with the service. It did seem expensive to me, but to be fair I don't have many points of reference to compare the price against and I did not have time for price shopping given the turn around time required.

This company did a great job with my home inspection in 2011; however, I wouldn't recommend them for a roof inspection (they call it a component inspection). I called Tiger after a hail storm in July 2012 and asked if they did roof inspections. The woman on the phone said they did and setup a time. The inspector came out on time and inspected the roof with binoculars and atop of a ladder. He told me that the roof was fine and that most of my neighbors who were having roof work done after the storm were being taken advantage of by the roofing companies that had come by earlier. I noticed within a few weeks that parts of the roof seamed to stay wet longer after a heavy rain. I called my insurance company and they set up an independent roofing contractor to assess the roof. While the independent roofing contractor was on the roof, he rolled his hand over a part of it and around a handful worth of granules rained down off of the roof—there was significant damage from the hail (~7-10 years off of the life of the roof). The independent roofing contractor told me that if the damage had been there earlier than the hail storm (over the current life of the roof), most of those granules would have blown off. Tiger should only take on jobs that they are qualified to do...

This firm was recommended by a friend of a friend and we had no idea what to expect. The office responded immediately to my inquiry, gave me several options for scheduling and then reacted very considerately when I was forced to reschedule due to the selling agent's availability. When the inspector, Nick, showed up early and could not get into the house he simply said "There's plenty to do outside" and set to work. For the next three hours he meticulously inspected every detail he could on the house we are buying and took the time to explain clearly and professionally every aspect of what was needed, what might be needed in the future and what we should have reviewed by a contractor for estimates. What was even better was that he also took the time to point out where things had been done right: what was an upgrade, where the seller had obviously cared for and maintained a system and where above-average materials had been used, giving us a much clearer idea of how the current owner had cared for the house. Throughout the entire process he stayed focused on his job and clear in his explanations of what he was not able to provide (where something was beyond the scope of the service or where he had no access to something and could not comment on it). In the end, he sent a very complete, very clear report to  us within 12 hours of completing the inspection.
I would highly recommend this company and our inspector, Nick Tragakes, for any inspection. His knowledge, courtesy, professionalism and conduct on the job constituted the best example of good work I've seen in a long time.

I have had to update the initial rating of C to D as I have had no response from the agency and have now reported the company to the Better Business Bureau on 7/23 in hopes that they can assist me in resolving this issue. The company has yet to respond to the BBB complaint but does have until 8/7 to submit a response.

Original post:
Our inspector arrived on time and did do a very thorough inspection and found several structural issues. He went around all exterior areas of the home including the roof and windows. We specifically asked if the pitch of the roof was adequate for the newly installed architectural shingles and he responded absolutely, no problem. He did a thorough inspection of the interior as well as the basement. He spent several hours here and believed he did a thorough inspection job.
However, after we moved in we discovered water leaks coming in from various places. I called the inspector in Feb 2013 to report the issue and he did come out with the owner, however I was not informed of their visit so was not able to speak to the owner. I had a very reputable roofer come out to assess the situation and they agreed the grade of the  roof was not adequate for shingles but should be a flat membrane roof. I forwarded the reports and cover letter on Feb. 27th, 2013 to the inspector and he stated the owner would be in touch. I have still not received any response. I also reported that he failed to notice that the bathroom vent does not vent to the exterior of the home but actually vents into the attic. Again no response as of this day. These two issue in my opinion as well as the other roofer who came out to do the second inspection agreed that these two issues were very obvious and should not have been missed. To re-do this is now going to cost me 6,000. dollars.

Our inspector was Bob Breault. He was thorough -- checking the house from roof to crawl space and everything in between -- as well as personable. As he went about his inspection, he was sure to point out things of concern and explain them in laymen terms. The report he prepared was equally as thorough and provided guidance on recommended repairs as well as home maintenance tips. I would highly recommend Tiger Inspect.

Patrick Nagle preformed the home inspection for us. He was highly professional and thorough with his inspection.  He arrived 30 minutes before I did and checked the outside of the property.  He started with the roof, front and back yard, garage, attic then he went inside.  Basically everything was inspected from top to bottom.
After the inspection he reviewed everything with me, I had a lot of questions during and after the inspection he was very patient and through with his responses.  I received the report a few hours later in my email.
I contacted him several times after the inspection to ask him questions, he always took time out to answer my questions.
I would definitely recommend Patrick and Tiger for inspections. I found them on Angie's list.

Tiger helped by coordinating the lead paint test with RTK with the home inspection. Was extremely thorough, saved us from a money pit. Using them both again on the house we just came to agreement on (we had to walk away from the first one due to issues turned up in the inspection).

Steve provided an inspection on a home we are purchasing. He was thorough and quite professional. He welcomed our questions and provided us with great insights into what repairs/maintenance would cost. The process was lengthy, about 4 hours but it is a large house with lots of rooms to be examined. Basically, Steve started at the roof and ended in the basement and everything in between. We were left with a very comfortable feeling that everything was covered. When he was finished he reviewed the various photographs he had taken and mentioned how they would be used in his report.
The next morning, I received the inspection report in my e-mail. It was 22 pages with photographs and documented all of his findings in an easy to understand, useful format that will serve us for a long time.
I would definitely recommend Steve and Tiger for inspections. I found them on Angie's list and wanted to show the list works!

As first-time homebuyers, we were worrisome about the whole home inspection experience. Patrick, our inspector, put all our worries at ease. He was a wonderful guide and walked us through all the ins-and-outs of the old home. He was extremely thorough and patient in answering all our questions. In the end, he found about $7500 of work that we were able to get money for at closing, we are so thankful for his dedication and commitment to looking through the whole house. We had such a great experience that we recommended him to our mother-in-law at her closing a few months later (she was very thankful to have him as well!) We would 100% recommend using Tiger Home Inspection and if you can, request Patrick.

We were very pleased with the service performed by John H. from Tiger Home & Building Inspections. I only gave
them a B-rating on pricing as many others may balk at the price for an
inspection, but we believed it was well worth it for more peace of mind and the pricing is not out of the norm.
And I also only gave a B for Quality as he didn't go on the main roof
and was not going into the attic, because the prior owners covered the
beams with insulation and the bulb was out.  I would give an A if he
went out of his way to check both of if there was an A- option I would
choose that instead of B. But with all that in mind we still give him
and Tiger an A+ for overall experience.
They were super prompt...
arriving and had already started looking on the shorter side of the
roof and talking to our septic system inspectors (Wastewater Services,
inc. ... also another top-notched service provider) before I got there.
John was very thorough and communicative on what he found.  Somehow our
realtor scheduled the mortgage inspector at the same time and when John
noticed, he was careful about his comments to not make it seem like the
house was a wreck, in which it wasn't. Tiger even makes the experience
more proficient, by having implemented a custom computer database
program to help the inspectors write up the reports.  So efficient it is
in fact, that John sent the report to my email before he even left the
site.
John was highly professional, which can be refreshing these days.
He was there for about 3hrs as our house is pretty big.
We added a Radon test that required longer diagnostic time, and we got
the results a few days later. Their information definately did help us
understand the house better and to understand what more we needed to have closer attention to.
We would definitely utilize Tiger again!
