"Thank you for the opportunity and inviting us into your home. We are here if you ever need additional service."
"Thank you for contacting Budget Dry and we hope the information provided was helpful."
"Hi Member, We are happy that you are satisfied with the work that was completed on the foundation of your home. We value you as a Budget Dry customer and thank you for the great review."
The guy who came here didn't seem to understand or did not know that I had already paid the bill. He didn't do a lot of work maybe just turned it on or off. He wasn't here for even 15 minutes. They came out when they said they would, they came at the high end of the time which is okay. They arrived 10 minutes before 1:00 pm. It was all right, not unusual. I will not use them again.
"I am sorry to hear that you are not completely satisfied with the sump pump service provided. Budget Dry will be happy to refund your full payment. Most of our clients find our office staff extremely polite and very helpful. I am slightly confused by your comments of pressure. Utilizing the Angies List system sometimes our office needs to obtain additional information, such as, your address or phone number to confirm the appointment, and your email to send you a written explanation of our inspection. Occasionally we have to engage the customer to coordinate the scheduled time. Other than those issues there is no additional dialogue and absolutely no pressure or attempts to sell any products. The technician did suggest a new pump since your current pump was 8-10 years old and didnāt have some of the safety features available with today's technology. However his explanation was only part of an educational process. I am sorry if you felt you were being sold. Again I am sorry your experience didnāt meet your standards . We have tried on 2 occasions to contact you to get additional information about your experience."
New dehumidifier works beautifully, made basement smell fresh (no basement smell at all) within 24 hours. My previous dehumidifier was failing and too small to begin with. The only problem I had was with the condensate pump which shorted if there was a power surge and caused system to stop. By connecting that to a power surge strip I had no further problem.
"Hi [Member Name Removed], We are glad that the dehumidifier and the sump pumps are working out for you. We value you as a Budget Dry customer and please give us a call when you need more filters and we can arrange for a technician to drop them off at your home. We look forward to continuing doing business with you. Thank you."
"Hi [Member Name Removed], We want to thank you for the great review and for continuing to be a valued Premium Maintenance customer of Budget Dry. Thank you."
We are very pleased. Everything works properly. No water in the house or garage. Prior to the service we experienced at least one water event annually.
Service was very professional from first contact through completion.
"Hi Member, We thank you for your opinion about our company and for the great review. We are pleased to hear that you are happy with the work that was done in your home. We continue to value you as a Budget Dry customer, so please reach out to us if you need anything. Thank you."
"Thank you for taking the time to write this wonderful review! It was honestly our pleasure to have worked for you twice on two different projects! And we do sincerely hope to work with you again in the future. Best regards always."
"Thank you for your kind review/rating! If you ever require further assistance, please, do not hesitate to call us here at Budget Dry Waterproofing Inc.! Be well always."
"Thank you for taking your time to write this fantastic review! It was truly our pleasure to come into your home to install basement waterproofing solutions. We sincerely appreciate your feedback. Best regards always."
On Mar. 16 Budget?s crew showed up! Because they were early, I had not prepared my mother?s basement by moving things out of the way, so the Budget crew did the moving. They moved countless possessions away from the walls and dumped them in the middle of the basement and then did the work.
The work was of good quality and the crew according to my mother was polite, though I still did not want them there without my being present, as I had clearly stated to the sales person. They left the basement a complete mess and it took me hours and hours and two visits to my mother?s house to put it back together. If the items had been moved carefully instead of carelessly, as I would have done, it would have been easy to put the basement back together but instead it was a huge chore.
I contacted Budget and received a rude and combative reply from the owner. First, he disavowed what the sales person said about the scheduled date (?I cannot attest to any conversation you had with Jeff [the sales person]?) but told me that the job had always been scheduled for Mar. 16 because a clerk in his office had written ?March 16-17? on a folder in his office. Unfortunately, I do not have access to the folders in Budget?s offices; I relied on what the sales person said, which, according to the owner, doesn?t matter. He also claimed that my mother had been informed of the date, but no one contacted me even though I had negotiated the transaction and had told the sales person that it was important to me that I be there when the crew arrived.
The owner went on to say that normally he would have charged $750 to move the possessions but as a concession had not done so! If his crew had shown up when they were supposed to, however, the possessions would have been moved by me and I would have done it properly. He also said he would send a crew to put the basement back together but would charge $75 per man per hour plus a $135 fee!
Clearly a company to be avoided. The work was good and the sales person was a good guy but ownership apparently does not think the company should be bound by what its sales people say. In my case, as soon as there was an issue the owner stepped in and behaved as indicated above. Beware!
"We're sorry that the customer has such a twisted view of events. As a 4 time, repeat super service award winner, our reputation speaks for itself. The complainant's mother, our customer, was QUITE SATISFIED! We aim to please our customers, not every member of their families. We had a scheduled and confirmed installation date and the customer was supposed to have the basement cleared before then. We never altered or changed the date and we communicated the date to the complainant's mother, who is our customer. A week before, we called to remind all parties involved of the scheduled date. Our schedule was out about 6 weeks at the time so there was no way we could have done the job earlier if we were begged to do so. The customer's son, (the complainant) was to move the possessions. When we showed up, the basement looked like a flea market. We had to dispatch extra men to move old canning goods and boxes upon boxes away from the wall, something the son was supposed to do. It took 14 man hours to move every item and dismantle all the shelving. We piled all the items in the center of the basement as neat and orderly as we could. Even though the contract calls for a moving fee to be assesses, knowing the customer was an elderly woman, we waived the fee. We thought we were being considerate. Several weeks later we got a call from the customer's son complaining about how we moved the items. It was his first visit to the house since the work was done. If he had planned on moving the items, one would have expected him to arrive before whatever date he erroneously assumed was the installation date. Instead, weeks go by and then we get an email DEMANDING that we come back and move all the items to their original locations. This is work that was not in the contract and as such, we have the right to charge for it. The complainant thought our prices were unreasonable so we suggested hiring a moving company. The complainant threatened to "expose us" unless we complied with his requests. He repeatedly demanded that we do work above and beyond the scope of the contract or risk a negative review. That's blackmail and we don't bend to unwarranted threats. If anyone would like to see pictures of the amount of items we moved, free of charge, we'll be glad to share them. Also, I ask Angie's List to review this complaint as (1) the complainant was not our customer and (2) the complainant tired to blackmail us into doing free work and only posted the review after we refused to give in to his demands. I quote an email from the complainant here "Before I go forward with an aggressive campaign to make the world aware, through Home Advisor and Yelp and Angie's List, of what happened, I wanted to afford you the opportunity to send a couple of men to the house to help me or my mom's caretaker put the place back together.""
Two weeks later, our town was hit with a nor'easter, and dozens of gallons of water began to spill out of the puddle, flooding the basement. I called Connecticut Basement Systems, but they would not be able to send a representative out for several days. Budget Dry's sales rep, Jack, was in our house within a few hours.Ā
He jumped right in, helping me shopvac out the water, lifting and emptying the 10-gallon buckets of water that I could not carry. He said we would need a french drain in the area where the water seemed to be coming from. But then he took the shopvac to the finished part of our basement, and began to carefully vacuum water from along each of the walls, revealing that water was actually spilling in from the base of every wall. This meant that we would need a full perimeter french drain.
Jack actually seemed heartbroken to give us this news. He was very sympathetic to the cost and disruption it would cause, especially because we were new homeowners.Ā He lent us his own personal pump to help remove water overnight, and somehow he and his office arranged to have a team install the perimeter french drain the following day. This was evidently quite the feat, as they were fully booked for several weeks, but our situation was clearly an emergency and we were given priority.
The actual drain installation was very stressful, but I'm sure any new homeowner would say the same about any construction project. A crew of four men did the installation, jackhammering out a trench along the walls and maneuvering carefully around a sewer pipe. The whole process was highly professional. The only issue we had was that the four crew members had patchy English, and their foreman/translator was occupied at another job. Fortunately, the owner, Marc, was able to explain everything to me over the phone, and Jack was also available on the phone all day between assessments to allay any concerns. There was one hiccup where it turned out our sump pump container was too small and that we'd need to replace the container and pump, which added an additional cost to the job, but in the end, it worked out just fine.
In the middle of the two-day job, Jack even dropped by to check out the work and answer our questions.Ā The whole project is covered under Budget Dry's lifetime warranty, which gave us enormous peace of mind.
We continued to work with Budget Dry after the installation of the drain and new pump. We needed to replace a sewer pipe, and when the plumber wanted to rip the pipe out of the ground next to the drain, Budget Dry offered to send someone out to inspect the plumber's work so that our warranty would not be invalidated. We spoke to them several times about the issue, and they were always very clear about wanting to accommodate us and maintain their warranty.Ā (We ended up not needing to rip out the pipe.)Ā
When the cement over the drain developed cracking, they sent someone over to fix it, free of charge. It was fixed in under an hour.
The biggest test took place over the last few weeks, when our enormous mounds of snow began to melt. I have no doubt that if the drain had not been installed, we would have seen a flood of icy melt-water fill the basement, but with the new french drain, our basement has been totally dry.Ā
Our case was traumatic, but Budget Dry handled it exceptionally well, and with great humanity and sympathy for our frayed nerves. I recommend their services wholeheartedly. We plan to use their services again this year when we install a vapor barrier.

discharge should reach the street.Ā So that it won?t cause any problem to my neighbor or my yard. So, I called Marc of
Budget Dry to clarify the issue. Ā Marc said if I wanted the pipe extended to the street it will cost me and the sump
pump need to be upgraded to support the extra length of the pipe.Ā He said that if there is problem in the future he will fix it.
Very soon after the basement system installed, there was heavy rain and the discharged water flooded my neighbor?s yard not to mention my own the yard. My neighbor was not happy at all.Ā I called Marc and he said he could simply extend the pipe with no cost to me if I sign up for the basement system installation for the crawl space, another half of the basement.Ā Otherwise it will cost me at least $600 to get it done.Ā He does not honor his word and he simply does not care about his customer. Ā He was friendly and helpful until now.
I choose Budget Dry because of it?s A rating in Angieslist and it is misleading.Ā The level of customer service they have does not deserve A rating.
"[member name removed], I'm sorry you feel that way, though I'm confused because you had us back out to your home on 8/14, a little more than a year from the initial install to perform an annual maintenance on your pump. Why would you do that if you felt our professionalism was worth an "F"? But I'm glad to see that your basement has remained dry! Regarding your complaints here, Marc line itemized a proposal to extend that discharge further, But we cannot put the water into the street, into a storm drain, or into the sewer as all of those are illegal. Your request that we extend the pipe all the way to the street is asking us to jeopardize our license AND risk serious injury and/or death to innocent people if the water were to collect in the street and freeze. No way would we ever put life or safety at risk with ANY of our work. There's not one yard in America that is more important than someone's life, period. On our end here, we responded to your inquires promptly and proposed a solution. I can't help if you didn't agree with the price. Marc was 100% correct in stating that the pump you currently have would not support pushing water beyond where your current discharge ends. Just like a car company would tell you not to tow beyond a certain amount on your vehicle, the pumps have limits and we have to respect those. You contracted us for a specific amount of discharge. On your invoice you will see that every item is line itemized. I believe we worked diligently with you. We provided 3 different solutions to your problem and you chose one of them. We were also very flexible in how we took your deposit. I'm sorry you feel this way, but my hands are tied due to the topography of your yard, your stone patios, and the solution that you chose to proceed with."
He then did an inspection of the exterior of the house and contributing drainage problems on the seepage wall in question.
A course of action was formulated to alleviate the problem and draw the moisture away from the basement wall.
He made the assessment and submitted an estimate on the cost.
I told him I wasn't ready to commit at that time, but I did take his card and information for future consideration,
The visit went quite well. There was no pressure to commit at anytime. Basically, these are the facts, these are the possibilities, this is what we can do and this is an estimate on what it will cost.

"The [removed member name] contracted for work and 45 days later, just prior to the work being installed, they wanted to cancel the contract. Their house failed an inspection and the perspective buyer canceled the transaction. There were numerous issues on the inspection report. They also have a water issue which needs to be addressed but this wasn't listed as one of the objections. Their house is listed for over $800,000. In my professional opinion they are being shortsighted since the next perspective buyer will probably object to the water issue. They will retain the credit and it will be applied when they move forward since it's extremely difficult to sell a house in that price range with a wet basement."
