Travelers insurance which is owned by GEICO had been insuring my home for 15 years. I had been a GEICO customer since the early 80's when I was in the AirForce (30+ years).
My home received hail damage on 5/25/2011. Travelers paid for some minor repairs. Then on 7/1/2012 we had a huge hail storm come through the neighborhood doing serious damage to everyone's roof. My roof needed to be replaced. Travelers came out, inspected the roof, said it needed to be replaced and paid for a roofer to replace it.
On 7/11/2013 Travelers dropped my insurance coverage on my house. In the letter they sent me it said:
"Our reason for non-renewing your policy is for the loss(es) as described below:"
Date of Loss Type of Loss
5/25/11 Hail
7/1/13 Hail
I was stunned that after all those years of being a good customer, paying way over the cost of the hail damage in policy payments over the years that they would drop me for something I had no control over. Insurance is purchased for just such occasions. Typical corporate greed at work. Needless to say I dropped GEICO from my auto insurance immediately.
Be warned: Travelers Insurance will drop you if you cost them any money.
