This year after a massive power outage in the the Northeast we had decided to have a backup generator installed at my in-laws home. We did a good bit of research on generators and decided on the Generac brand for our solution. We then made appointments with five Generac dealer/installers to come out and look the job over and give us an estimate, after everyone had come and gone, we decided to go with Connect Electric, Inc out of Durham, CT. Their price was competitive, their degree of professionalism very high and they were super easy to deal, all real pluses. At our initial meeting, Mike McKenna (the owner) showed up 15 minutes before our appointment time and was just so great to deal with. He walked the job site, carefully listened to all of our expectations and gave us an estimate along with a nice package of supporting documentation regarding the generator, the switch and all the supporting tech pieces. He also gave us a list of few propane providers that he liked to work with because their prices were fair, do great work and were reliable. We signed a contract and Mike ordered all the parts. While we were waiting for their arrival we had 4 propane companies come out and look at the tank install. Out of all propane guys that came out Mike's favorite supplier/contractor (Nutmeg Propane) was the lowest bidder and came up with the answer to the problem we were having with locating the tanks properly on the property! When Mike returned he installed an 14KVA propane powered backup generator with a 200A transfer switch along with a panel upgrade from a 100A to a 200A panel and an updated mast through the roof to capture the service line from the street. Everything his company did was so neat, clean and workman like, they showed up on time and stayed with the job everyday until it was completed. Furthermore they coordinated the shutdown of the power and the install of an uprated service line from the utility pole to the house with our local service provider Connecticut Light and Power.I would have to rate this as one of the most trouble free and stress free projects I have ever done in 30 years of home ownership! Mike and Connect Electric are highly recommended!!
