The service tech from East Coast was a no-show on the original date expected. It was explained that he was "not feeling well" that day. However on the day he did show up, he didn't recall this. So I guess that wasn't true after all.
First time using this company. He was only here to do what was billed and requested as a maintenance visit on two central a/c units. He set to work on the basement unit and soon announced he was finished. I asked, did you clean out the condensate pump? He said that was not part of his service. (However later I checked the invoice and in print was "clean condensate drain".) This service has ALWAYS been included with every such visit I've had from HVAC service providers in the past. I know this because the guys always needed a cup or water to clean out the pump and drain.
Next the attic unit, and that went very quickly as well.
Then we went to the outside units. After trying to sell me two expensive parts - note both units are operating perfectly - he said he was finished. I looked at the outside units and noticed the leaves and debris were not cleaned out. I asked why. He said that I should check my contract, that he was only there to "check things" but not to actually DO anything or clean anything out.
In other words, no actual maintenance was done! Only checking of things. And attempting to sell me 2 parts, $170 each. Parts which I later found online for around $15. Plug in parts, capacitors.
I had high hopes for this company as they had a good profile on Angie's List and are local. However I would never use them again. My a/c units are 10 years old but I would never use East Coast for installation. I will use my oil company who I should have gone to in the first place.

"Thank you so much for your positive review! We truly appreciate your kind words and thank you for being and East Cost Mechanical customer!"
"This was a Home Depot installation that we did not want to do, but had to do as a Home Depot partner. The customer bought their equipment directly from Home Depot at the store retail level and we had to install it, please know the customer signed off that they refused to have us replace any of the connecting piping, fittings and electrical, etc. The customer was made aware of all of this in a completely transparent multipart contract. We were called back multiple times as the old failed to work with the new, as we said it would. Ultimately they did not want to pay us for the additional work outside the scope of work the customer signed for in contracts. We did call Home Depot who was looped in on the phone with the customer, while our technician was there at this last visit while getting the new boiler working. As we addressed with customer originally the system it needed some compatible supporting items that the customer just did not want to pay for. Very unfortunate for us to have been caught in the middle. Over the past 3 years we have been given the Angie's List Super Service Award and maintain a 9.8 out of 10 rating with Home Depot too for customers ratings. Being given a review like this, is also unfortunate. We may not be perfect, but the customer was the one who chose to gamble and when it did not work out she tried to say we had to upgrade items and she was refusing to pay. Home Depot let customer know her contract was very clear and we had done all were contracted to do. After the call the customer did pay us and last we knew the boiler was working."

almost jovial and it has been a pleasant experience all the way around. I have seen their name splashed all over the Home Depot Store. Thanks again, East Coast, your information has already been forwarded to our neighbors!
"We regret that the customer was inconvenienced due to a misunderstanding. We understand everyone's time is valuable. Unfortunately it sounds as though there was a miscommunication regarding the time of the appointment. Our records show the appointment was set for 2pm, however, the customer stated he was expecting our specialist between 12 and 1pm. Our procedure is to book a two hour appointment on the hour (8-10, 10-12, 12-2, 2-4) to ensure punctuality, and to call ahead if we are going to be late (or early, as we did in this situation). This situation has been addressed by the owner/president of the company. Once again we regret this customer had a poor experience with East Coast Mechanical."
