an hour. It was snowing that day. My wife expressed concern about walking down
the stairs. He actually shoveled our stairs and a path! Our first impression
was very positive as no one asked him to do this.
We asked for proof of his insurance and he asked his agent to email it to us right
away. When we did not receive it he went over and picked up a copy and brought
it to us. He showed us his Roofer’s License. We asked for more roofing material
samples and he went home and got them for us immediately.
The firm consists of Richard and his two sons. You could not ask for nicer people
to work with. They were industrious and polite. They were always pleasant and
would do anything we asked. Every step was carefully explained to us and all of
our questions were answered. All work was done diligently.
All of them are great craftsman dedicated to doing the job to perfection. All
shingles are hand nailed because it holds the shingles better than an automatic
nailing gun. They take the time to do that. The shingles were top quality GAF
shingles and came with a 30 year guarantee. R and S gave us a 30 pound felt
under layer which should last longer. He installed pipe boots and ridge vents. They
replaced some of the plywood decking and added counterflashing on the chimney. They
cut branches away from the house so that the new roof would not be damaged.
They started the job and finished the job exactly when they said they would. They
arrived promptly each day. They took four days to complete the job instead of
the two days many roofers would take, because they did everything carefully.
They never took more of the old shingles off the roof than they could replace
with new shingles by the end of the day.
Cleanup was constant and the property was left clean every night. They even go over the
ground with a magnet to make sure that no nails have fallen to the ground. Our
siding and windows and bushes were protected by a tarp at all times. There was
a tarp on the ground to collect the old shingles as they came off the roof.
They even had a tarp in place to pull quickly over the roof in case of rain.
This is a family business which adds a nice personal touch. We highly recommend Richard
Salvati and his sons.
