Hearth Haven
About us
Hearth Haven in Branford, CT was founded in 2014 by Tom Swan after he saw a need for something unique and different in the local area. Tom grew up in the Hearth, Patio & Barbecue industry, inside of a family business. After giving college a try, he chose to learn the family business and help it to grow to new heights. This is where he garnered the nickname “The Pyromaniac”. As the business began to rapidly grow through the mid to late 2000’s, tensions rose as the old school vs. new school business mentalities began to clash. This ultimately led Tom to make the decision to leave the business after dedicating a great deal of time and energy to the significant growth. After leaving the family business, Tom moved on to distribution sales within the industry, working as a territory sales representative, covering all of New England as well as parts of New York and Long Island. This provided the opportunity to get a full look at the business and see how many other businesses were run in the territory. The perspective gave Tom the opportunity to cherry pick things he liked and disliked about how many similar businesses were run, and build a model that would pool the best attributes of each into one business, geared towards customer service, employee appreciation, and growth. Tom chose Branford as the building grounds for his business due to a lack in the area of a quality hearth shop that could provide the answers, information, and service that consumers are looking for. After two hearth shops, one in Branford and one in Guilford, closed up a few years earlier, they left a gaping hole in the area for consumers desperately seeking that warmth they are dreaming about! While there are big name stores in the area, some that have been around for a long time, and some that have just popped up, Hearth Haven strives to offer a few key factors. The first factor would be unmatched customer service. We give everyone the same attention, whether they are buying replacement gasket or working on a major remodeling project costing several thousand dollars. Every customer that comes to us is an important part of the Hearth Haven family, and we value the opportunity to help you understand your product or situation to the best of our ability. The second factor, which goes hand in hand with the first, is honesty. We will offer you the 100% truth about your home and your situation, and sometimes that means we may not be able to solve the problem, or there may not be a problem that needs to be solved! We treat our customers the way that we would like to be treated, regardless of what it means financially to us. Along the line of honesty, we believe in fair market pricing. We offer a premium product and service at very fair prices, and we work to try to find a solution for every budget. What we don’t do is price gouge. Beware of any prices that seem extremely high, and be sure to check any quotes against others in order to be sure that you are getting a fair price in every instance. The final factor that we focus on is your ability to visually see the product that you are purchasing. When you are making a major investment in your home, you want to be able to see the product that you are buying. We have made a significant investment in our showroom so that you as a consumer can see nearly every product that we have to offer. Too often when buying out of a catalog, you can spend a significant sum of money on a product and realize once it’s installed that there is something about it that you don’t really like.
