Excellent. Project took about six weeks start to finish. End result was that the finished basement looked awesome. Family/kids now have a lot more space. Everyone from Better Built that worked on the basement was professional, courteous, responsive, and just really nice the whole time. We also really appreciated having a live schedule (via the smartphone app) so we knew what to expect in throughout the construction. We are just really happy with how it turned out and how there weren’t really any snags or delays during the construction.

Smooth. On time, professional, responsive. Much less than our other estimate. Custom built in was well made and quite nice.

The craftsmanship, materials and customer service are all top notch. They guarantee their work, and return in a timely fashion if any aspect of the project needs attention. They kept to the project timeline established. The team takes pride in their work and really care about pleasing the customer. Out of all the home contractors I have hired over the past 50 years, Better Built Basements is one of the very best.

We could not be happier with how this process went. From the initial appointment to provide estimates to the final walk through this was truly a professional process. The online scheduler was as advertised to track the project process and let us know when payments were due. BBB was great along the way as we made changes / alterations to some of the original work. What made this great was we only dealt with BBB as they handled all of the contractors for the various parts of a basement install - framing / electrical / hvac / flooring / etc. They laid out a realistic time schedule and actually finished a full week ahead of that. On several occasions the owner of the company came out to inspect the project and answer any questions we had. On a daily basis the basement was cleaned by the workers even though it was a "work" area and you expect there to be some dust, etc. We had three companies quote us for this project and cost wise they were all very similar but in the end BBB goes the extra step to make this process a flawless one....

Other higher priority projects popped up. Will purchase from them confidently ASAP.

Awesome! They have an amazing operation. The project started and finished exactly when they said it would. I was amazed at their organizational skills and the project moved along like a symphony of different construction specialists coming and going. Jim (owner) told me the only way they could schedule with such precision is by having all the contractors work directly for him. He has project managers and specialists for every aspect of the job. I would HIGHLY recommend them.

my initial plan for the basement was a toilet and sink but what I received was a beautiful, to my specifications, powder room that I am very pleased with. considering the amount of work involved in digging up the basement floor and building this from scratch, this went very smoothly with a beautiful bathroom in the end. the upstairs (main floor) bathroom is small but now has the look of a spa so I no longer have to apologize to people that the bathroom is "under construction" when they ask to use it. I received a note about how the main bathroom would progress--tear down, re-place wall, tile, etc. BBB stuck to the plan so I knew who was coming and what was being done. the workmen were all timely, polite, considerate of my cats, courteous to the family members, pleasant to talk to, readily answered questions, and professional. they always cleaned up after themselves at the end of the day. I could not be happier with my end results as well as the journey to get there. for my first remodeling experience, I am pleased it went so well and would not hesitate to recommend BBB to my friends and would definitely use them again with no hesitation

Wonderful. From start to finish they did a terrific job. The workers were all excellent & the job came in ahead of schedule. We felt the pricing was reasonable & we were not pressured in any way . Miscommunications were rectified immediately. The great thing is that Better Built Basement has their own team of contractors. (framers, plumbers, painters etc.) so they were able to transition smoothly from item to item without down time waiting for a contractor to be free. We would not hesitate to use them again. One thing I will say is that you as the homeowner need to do your homework. Make sure you understand exactly what finishing products they are going to use. For example we upgraded door knobs and handles. We purchased them at CT Lighting & Better Built installed them.

I requested for Better Built Basements to come out and provide an estimate for work I wanted to have done. They showed up exactly on time, provided me with some information about their company, and were extremely professional and courteous. They determined that the type of structural work I was looking to get done was outside of their normal scope of work but still took the time to attempt to gather information for an estimate. The project was outside of their scope of work but I will keep them in mind once the project requires services they specialize in.

I had an excellent experience working with Randy for an estimate to finish a basement on a house we were looking to purchase. He was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and detailed. We will definitely be turning to BBB when it comes time to work on the house that we buy.

I called them and we had an appointment the following week for an estimate. They never showed for the appointment, never called, never followed up at all. They had a great salesman named Chris when we worked with them but he has left. It seems they are not what they used to be - shame.

Each team of workers came in and completed their part of the job in a courteous manner: sheetrock,electric, lighting,plumbing, HVAC, painting carpeting, in perfect order. Each day they showed up on time and each evening that crew cleaned up. They arranged inspectors, permits, everything to perfection. We are still raving to our friends about this company. I waited to be asked to write a review so I apologize for this late entry.

Our experience with Better Built Basements was a very good experience. The team was responsive to our initial inquiry in scheduling a visit. Upon getting an estimate and signing the deal, we gained access to a website that provided us with information on the schedule and became a vehicle to communicate with the team working back in the office. Better Built did a good job of building the schedule and sticking to it. As with any project like this, surprises came up but we were able to work through them and ultimately get a good result. Better Built did recommend a Basement Waterproofer that we decided to use. When an issue arose around the waterproofing, Better Built reached out to the waterproofer and facilitated a successful resolution. My main criticism of Better Built was failing to get good design requirements from me and my wife before the work began. At the initial walkthrough and at the signing of the deal, we provided a level of detail that would facilitate ordering the right materials, like number of doors and lights. However, the details about the bar and the room layout weren't discussed in the level of detail needed to finalize the design. This led to more time-pressured discussions during construction like the size and layout of the bar that were unfortunate and ultimately led to an increased cost. In spite of the issue I raised above, I still rate my experience with Better Built Basements as very positive and would recommend them to others.

Better Built Basements finished our basement about a year ago and our family has been enjoying it ever since.  I thought all of the workers were friendly and professional.  The contractors that boxed in the pipes were very thorough and made sure that we were happy with the ceiling design before any other work was performed.  The electricians were also good to work with.  I would recommend being home at least the first day that they are there especially if they are wiring a media room or home theater.  I was picky with the wiring in our media room and they were able to accommodate any modifications that I had requested. As with any home renovation there are areas for improvement.  Painting – the paint job looked pretty good overall but we needed to point out areas that were missed in each of the rooms.  Flooring installation – after our luxury vinyl floor was installed, I noticed a few sections that were raised up a bit, probably due to dry joint compound from the walls.  Communication – many of the workers did a nice job communicating the status of the work, but there were days, especially toward the end of the project, when we did not know the next steps.  I thought the Builder Trend application that BBB uses gave us a general idea of when the work was going to be performed but was not updated timely enough when plans changed.  I would have preferred more frequent contact from the people scheduling the work to confirm when each step was going to be performed and decisions needed to be made.  When I worked with Jim and Jake directly, they were very responsive and addressed my concerns timely.  Jake did an awesome job resolving any issues before we signed off on the work at the end of the project.  One more comment on communication – be sure to get everything in writing and read through the contract several times as there are many details (and contractors) involved with a basement renovation.  There were a few items my wife and I remembered discussing during the design phase that we later found out were not reflected in the contract. We received quotes from two other basement contractors and BBB’s quote was right in the middle.  Our decision came down to word of mouth, the great online reviews and the confidence my wife and I had that BBB could do the job right.  We could not be any happier with our decision to hire them to finish our basement.

BBB completed the entire project in 5 weeks including the town's various inspections. They worked full days, were prompt, professional, and clean. Everyday the construction area was cleaned/swept. The craftsmanship and materials were of excellent quality. They employ their own electricians, plumbers, and tradesman. No delays and no waiting around for people to show up. The project was well managed, and they clearly cared about the quality of their work. They answered all of our questions throughout the project, and we could not be happier with the result. We really cannot say enough about how impressed we were. The project went amazingly well and all at a very fair cost.

Outstanding. Everyone was friendly and reliable. Cleaned up daily. Picked up materials or met deliveries to make sure thing went smoothly. I added to project in process. He gave frank advice about cost vs outcome value. They were great with my pet. They are going to be coming back to do the entry way soon.

Better Built Basements exceeded my expectations.   I wanted our almost 1,000 square foot basement finished and with a bathroom for my son and grandchildren.  The basement was used for storage for almost 50 years and never had fresh air circulating in it.  Better Built Basements came and gave me an estimate.  I went to other vendors for estimates.  They were not the least expensive, but they were the one's that provided quality products and services.  They made sure that the job was inspected by the town at the appropriate times.  They arranged for all of the trades, i.e. plumber, tile, electrician, drywall, etc. and town inspections.  All of the trades were professional and answered all of my questions.  When the excavation was done for the basement bath, the plumber and his assistant answered all of my questions about the pump.  The electrician asked me where I wanted the pot lights, outlets and cable outlets.  All were extremely professional.

Better Built Basements uses the app Builder Trend to keep you informed of the activity for the day, week and month.  It is updated and you will always know what is happening with your project.

I am beyond pleased with the results and everyone who enters  the new basement says "wow".  That is a testament to their work.  The owner Jim personally came a few times to ensure that the job was moving properly and to answer any questions.  Jake came frequently and ensured that the town inspections went well and followed up with the review of the previous day's work.  They cleaned up every night after the workday.  The basement looks and functions very well and has been used a lot since it passed the last inspection.  Our basement is now a great hang out room for the adults, teenagers and kids.

Better Built Basements just completed a room in our basement. They arranged for every aspect of the project. No need for us to coordinate carpenters, electricians, painters, flooring installers -  they did it all! The entire project ran smoothly because of the professionalism, punctually, quality of work and courtesy of their employees.

Jeremy was extremely patient with me through the process.  He didn't pressure me into buying when i told him we wanted to finish the basement but wasn't ready at the time.  He kept in contact with me over a year before we were finally ready to finish the basement.  Once we began, it  went great.  His team was in every day, with a fully transparent schedule they setup for us on builder trend.  Every evening they cleaned up and left no trace of dirt, that is extremely important to me.  The job took a month and a half and the time went by fast.  My family and i can't wait to enjoy our new basement, we are extremely happy.

Came up with a sensible cost effective plan designed to address the existing problems of mold and mildew. Crew was professional, helpful and thorough. I interviewed several others and was turned off by various marketing pitches.  These folks did exactly what was promised.  It was clear they knew the particular issues present in a basement project, whereas others did not.  I would recommend them to my friends, and appreciate the prompt high quality service.
