They didn?t call back to make an appointment.  I made numerous calls to followup but never heard anything. They left wondering. I?m waiting on these people & they didn?t even have the courtesy to call & let me know they were to busy to do my work.

They did a wonderful job. They have done work for us before. They do a very clean, good and thorough job that is very fairly priced. It is always a pleasure to work with them.

I first called Better Built Basements after researching on Angies List and elsewhere for an inlaw apartment installation in the basement of my finished raised ranch. I was impressed with the reviews and the website. Fortunately for me I had good reason because whatever I read on other customers reviews was true. The owners Jim and Randy and their excellent crew of plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters, tapers etc were consummate professionals.         The part I was impressed with most was everything was done as promised and because I work a night shift I got to see them everyday and it was obvious they enjoyed and took pride in all their work. They all seemed to enjoy the ribbing and good natured needling that makes for a good work environment. I respected the camaraderie they displayed in making sure the finished product was like their own home.             In our initial appointment Jimmy took all the measurements and within three days his design team had 4 separate plans for me to choose from.  I chose an open floor plan. They gutted the whole finished basement walls ceilings etc. right down to the floors in one day and then just took off from there.             The work they did started right from the studs and included a full kitchen with beautiful cabinets. bathroom with five foot walk-in shower. Also in the open plan was a living area with large bedroom and huge walk-in closet.             Jim would call me it seemed like everyday to let me know who was coming and what time. He was great. He also went above and beyond trying to satisfy the various building code requirements my town was requiring. He must have made 15 trips to town hall explaining exactly what he was doing and why and I know he saved me several thousand dollars by his persistence.                In closing I would like to say I was completely satisfied. The clean up the end of each day was impeccable which was important because it never seemed like a messy construction site. I also felt that I made some new friends along the way which was a bonus on top of the superior craftsmanship which shows in the finished apartment. These guys were great.  I was not interested in a complete finishing of my basement, just a dry place to store things.  They did not try to sell me anything I wasn't interested in.  They were prompt, professional, returned my calls, and did everything they said they would.  They came back when something didn't work as I had expected it to, and fixed it.  I will definitely call them again when I want more done in the basement.

I have had many people come in and do work at my home, and they are by far the absolute best to work with.  They are professional, clean and everything they say they are doing they actually do.  I had a great experience. The entire project was done as quoted for start and finish.  I was able to trust them being in my home alone on a daily basis.

Everyone who worked on our project was extremely professional, courteous and knew exactly what they were doing. Our remodel may not have been the biggest job the guys had ever done but we feel they treated our project and our home with the same care they'd give to a much larger project.
Our project started just a couple weeks after the Halloween snowstorm & we were impressed that the guys were able to stick to their original timeline & complete our project by Christmas. They took care of all the permits, had folks on site for each inspection along the way and were quick to respond to any questions we had during the whole project. We've been able to enjoy the new space for a couple months now & absolutely love it - especially our daughter who's moved quite a bit of her toys into her new playroom :)
Having this extra area of the house to hang out in now is very cool for our whole family... it's astonishing that the whole thing only took a few weeks to complete & hard to believe how different it looks now that it's done. Great job :)

This company was wonderful to work with.  They gave us exceptional service at a great price.  The workers who were in our home every day were professional and personable.  They cleaned up at the end of each day so one could do a walk through and actually see the progress.  A week after the project started we received a huge snow storm that caused us to be with out power for a week; even with this and the set back of illness, and injury our project was still done on time. We are so pleased with the finished basement and were able to enjoy this with our extended family over the holidays.  We are so pleased that we chose Better Built Basements for this project and highly suggest them to others looking for excellent quality, professionalism, and craftsmanship.

Basement- worked with us to determine the best cost effective remodel plan after the basement had been flooded. We were very pleased with the final product, they were easy to work with, prompt in service, subcontractors were managed well and we have used them after this project.

once again Kitchen remodel- recently had this project completed and once again we are very happy. They were available for questions and concerns as the project moved on and worked around our schedules. This is the first company I have worked with who do whatever it takes to meet our needs and schedules, maintain good, timely communication with you, and truly act as owners of the company. 

We have used them for other smaller projects as I trust the subcontractors they use. IT is very obvious that they set a high standard of service and quality work and will accept nothing less.

This project took about 4 months to complete from start to finish.  From the beginning, Better Built had a plan and a proposal that would address every issue we had with the basement where the other 2 companies who were competing for the job were guessing as to how to address them. 

Better Built did everything on time, and on budget.  Any time there was a speed bump in the project we were informed and collaborated with the workers to come up with the best solution for our job.  We were never blindsided with extra costs or any surprise additions to the contract.  The workers communicated with us daily to let us know the status.  We appreciated the cleanup, inside and outside each day.  The workers were so good our neighbors even commented on how clean they kept the site. 

It has been nearly a month since the job has been completed and we haven't had a single issue or need for Better Built to come back out.  When taking on such a large project we never doubted the skill of the workers or the money that we were spending.  Better Built's employees were able to do all the work themselves so we didn't have lots of subcontracts coming into our home.  We knew the people who would be in our home every day.  I normally don't write up suggestions for companies but they did such a wonderful job I had to share our experience.

All sub contractors used by Better Basement were well qualified and very professional in their work. We would "highly" recommend them to anyone who would like to remodel their basement.

Crew showed up in a timely fashion.  Owner responsible and checked on work regularly.  Returned phone calls promptly, and worked well with email.  Very neat, job site always cleaned up after a day's work.  Minor changes made easily without reminder.  Had an efficient, practical approach to design/work.

From the beginning, everyone at Better Built Basements that we worked with was very helpful, professional and accommodating .  We had heard plenty of horror stories about other contractors so we were prepared for the worst, but got the best.  They collaborated with us in the planning/design stage to help us determine the best layout for our basement.  They were open to all of our ideas and made us feel confident in the fact that they'd do it.  Their crew arrived on time and cleaned up each day and were a pleasure to work with  They adhered to the deadlines that they had given us for each stage of the process.  They answered all of our questions/concerns promptly and professionally.  We couldn't be happier with the finished product and the process itself.  It was stress-free for us and would recommend Better Built Basements to anyone looking for a contractor.

It was amazing.  They were everything you could ask for in a contractor - punctual, professional, had excellent communication with us and each other, all of which resulted in a fantastic final product - a finished basement we are proud of.  From the start, Joe, in sales, won us over with the professional layout of our basement to be used by us to envision what the basement would look like at the end as well as to ensure that everyone had the same understanding of what was going to be done.  Jim, the owner of the company came to our house on multiple occasions to ensure everything was going smoothly and to our liking.  Every contractor was respectful, very nice, and were willing to answer any of our questions.  The project was actually completed ahead of schedule and for the price quoted. To sum it all up, my father, who can be a bit critical, his first impression was wow, I can't believe this is your basement, it's unbelievable.  And I had to chuckle (and this might sound like I'm over-selling them here, but it's true), the motto for Better Built Basements is "from unfinished to unbelievable" and that really was the end result.

People from Better Built Basements LLC Company were very cooperative.  They gave us a free estimate.  They were very knowledgeable.  They were very accommodating.  They seemed to be a topnotch outfit.  I would consider them in the future if required. 

They were perfectionist.  They were very clean, professional and always showed up on time.   They always gave us great ideas and suggestions.  We really like that they stayed in budget.  

The experience was extremely positive.  Throughout the entire remodel the team gave advice and suggestions that were excellent.  Additional built in shelves/bookcases were put in both the main area and bathroom allowing for no wasted space.  The electrical team was amazing, putting lights overhead in the perfect locations.  Also, the company gave excellent referrals to other companies.  Such as who to help with waterproofing the basement, go with for fixtures, and what types of HDMI cables to use.

Better Built Basements exceeded all my expectations. They did an amazing job on my basement!  Not only was the work of the highest quality, but Jim was in constant contact to make sure that we were happy and that everything was moving smoothly. I knew if I had even the smallest question I could contact Jim and he would get back to me very quickly.  The people of Better Built Basement work harder than any other company I’ve worked with. Not only did that mean working longer hours, and even weekends, but it also meant keeping the space clean each day. That was a bonus that was greatly appreciated. No one likes to come home to a remodel project when the room is left in disarray each night. Better Built Basements treats your space like their own home, so you can view the work each night without tripping over equipment or encountering excess dirt. In addition to their hard work and respect for our home I also appreciated having a timeline for the project so I knew when each step was to take place. Since my laundry was in my basement they even let me know if it would be unavailable for any period in time so I could plan accordingly.  The project came in at the cost quoted and the team worked hard to make my room look perfect. I cannot recommend Better Built Basements enough.  The team that worked on my home was friendly and courteous. Jim made the project stress free and enjoyable. All my husband and I had to do was enjoy watching our new space unfold. I would recommend BBB for your home improvement project and plan on contacting them again in the future for other project we have.

We met Jim and Kelly from Better Built Basements at a Home Show last November, 2010.  We were interested in refinishing our basement and they presented themselves as basement specialists.  We liked them and their approach to our remodeling goals.  Joe Martone met with us and evaluated our space and together we drew up preliminary plans.  From the start, we were impressed with their prompt arrivals, obsessive cleanliness and concern for our home.  Every evening we would receive a call from Jim reporting on their progress.  We couldn't wait to get home at night to see how everything looked.  We were never disappointed.
As with any project, things did not always go according to plan.  We encountered many significant and unexpected obstacles along the way.  In addition, we had a winter that was unparalleled in intensity and snowfall.  But nothing flustered Jim and his team.  Each item was dealt with quickly and efficiently.  No problem was too big or too small to warrant his complete attention to a solution.  Every member or the team was a pleasure to work with and an expert in his field.  The results along the way were  proof of that.
Ultimately, we now have a living space in our home that far exceeded our expectations.  We strongly recommend Jim Tranmer and his team at Better Built Basements to anyone who is considering finishing or remodeling his basement.  We can assure you that you will be as happy as we are with the results.

I had to give BBB straight A's across the board -- I was so pleased with my whole experience, and I LOVE my basement. -- I had interviewed a number of contractors - prices were either suspiciously low or the person was just a salesman who didn’t seem to be invested in the final outcome. My meeting with Jim and Kelly was a pleasant change. It was the first contractor meeting I’d had where I truly felt I could trust the people I was talking to – not only to be honest, but to be able to deliver the quality they promised. They were straightforward and explanatory; and this carried throughout the entire project and with all the members of their team. A great selling point was the bound books that they prepare for each customer documenting their basement transformation from start to finish – it clearly showed me what each of their projects had accomplished. -- Jim checked the worksite every day and kept me updated on progress, even emailing me pictures when I was out of town. The basement was always clean and tidy at end of day and they were diligent about setting the alarm system when they left. Every one of their team – and I did meet them all - was professional and competent -- They met or exceeded all the completion dates they promised. Payment schedule was appropriately based upon project milestones. -- They had excellent suggestions for adding space and design (closet under stairs), half-wall cut-out on stairs to open up that view, display shelf, square columns, angled wall at furnace area, etc. Even had a way to reuse some of the doors to save me a little money. -- As part of this project, they also corrected some existing problems like moving this huge air duct in the ceiling at the foot of the stairs. -- Their carpet guy was a joy to work with, letting me take any sample boards I needed until I finally made up my mind. And it took forever for me to decide on paint color – I appreciated their advice and patience during my selection process. They also had good advice on lighting and electrical placement. -- The dry-walling, and painting and tiling were excellent; the carpet installation was flawless - even the stairs. -- I am so very pleased with my basement –from start to finish everything was done with the highest attention to quality and detail.
