afternoon. They were so kind and helpful. They stayed late so I could
get there and then treated my cat and I like we were old friends. I was
really impressed with the care they provided. I now consider Mountain
Wood Pet Hospital my regular vet.
The Windsor staff person who answered the phone was personable and listened well. The price quoted seemed comparatively reasonable for the services provided and so I made an appointment. Due to a stressful unplanned events, I had to reschedule the appointment the morning of scheduled surgery. The staff person was understanding (helped to keep my stress down) and I appreciated that.
The day of surgery, and quot;Buddyand quot; was given a pre-op exam by Dr. Brown. He was calm, professional, and took the time to answer any questions I had, I appreciated the front office staff and the vet tech as they explained things thoroughly and slowly so I remembered most everything they said, without having to write it down (I'm so not an audio learner).
The most important part to me was Buddy's reaction/response to the experience. Buddy usually trembles from fear in any new situation and this was kept to a minimum - I think due to a mellow office. I felt so confident in the treatment of my do at the end of surgery day that I made an appointment for a non-anesthetic teeth cleaning scheduled for next month.
I strongly recommend the Windsor branch of the Mountain Wood Clinic.
DVM Brown saw our dog s and listened to everything, and did a very thorough checkup on our dog. based on suggestions we opted for x-rays to have his heart checked (slight murmer). X-rays showed a good heart, but another potential issue so we took another set which verified a large tumor. DVM Brown brought DVM Rustigi in to consult for a seond opinion. They spent quite a bit of time with us. Given his age, and tumor size and location, we agreed surgery wasn't a good option nor was chemo. We opted for steroid treatment to see how he'd respond, hoping he'd just feel well for a while longer.
He has responded quite well to the steroids, is eating very well and is acting like his old self (loving, more active, and back to some of his bad habits...). We will be putting him on a supplement regime in an attempt to try to put the cancer in remission, or at least slow it down. I am extremely pleased with the entire staff at Mountainwood. They are very knowledgeable, thorough, very much care, and are extremely reasonably priced. We have 3 cats and 2 dogs and will be taking all of them to Mountainwood from now on.
Dr. R. has been a wonderful vet to both of our dogs over the last few years. He is friendly and down-to-earth and is kind to us to and our pets. His rates are reasonable, and he is willing to respond to emergencies that occur outside of office hours. Dr. R. does not charge premium rates for seeing patients outside of office hours. It is very rare for vets to provide emergency service today and Dr. R's willingness to do this reminds me of the small town doc who used to provide such services. He is informed and up-to-date on treatment options and discusses all of them with the us. I have consulted him for various training issues, and he always has a good answer. His insight into the psychology of dogs makes his advice very useful. His staff is very friendly and helpful, too. They always return my phone calls and are kind to our animals. I would recommend Dr. R., his hospital, and the staff to anyone and am glad that we found Mountain Wood Pet Hospital for our pets.
