I was told that I needed a new outside condensing unit (AC unit) as my current one had a frozen/dead condenser, and was expecting to pay about $3000 for a brand new unit. I called Brian @ Carroll Mechanical, and he quoted me a savings of $500 or $2500 to replace the AC unit. When he arrived and prepared to switch out the entire unit with a new unit, he first checked the capacitor and realized that it was blown. He instead replaced the capacitor and recharged the unit and told me we didn't need a new AC condensing unit. He could have easily charged me $2500 and replaced the entire unit. This guy is the real deal and is as honest as they come. I will never call another HVAC contractor outside of Carroll Mechanical, he has a lifetime customer!

Carroll Mechanical Services (CMS) was one of 4 companies that we met with to get bids for installing central cir conditioning.  Brien Carroll, the owner, spent the most time of the 4 studying the furnace and ductwork to come up with the best solution for the A/C installation in out tight crawl space.  His bid was the second lowest in price but used Carrier products, which I was very comfortable with, so we opted for CMS.  Brien's crew, Fred and Dan, arrived pretty close to on time and went straight to work, along with Joe, the sub-contracted electrician who worked like the energizer bunny.  Fred even found a way to improve on Brien's design which simplified the changes that had to be made to the ductwork in the crawl space.  By mid-afternoon, everything was installed.  Unfortunately, the tool Fred had wouldn't release the Freon from the compressor, so Brien had to dispatch his other crew to complete the job.  Josh and Mike arrive about 1 1/2 hours later and had everything running an hour or so after that.  We couldn't get my thermostat to control the unit, so Josh installed a new one temporarily till I could reconfigure mine.  Brien returned the following morning to swap out the thermostats.  All work passed the city inspections.  There were a few surprises in the process, mostly good ones.  The Carrier compressor unit outside on our patio is even smaller than Brien described, which is great.  It's also very quite, which is even more important to us.  We did  pay extra for a compressor blanket (which Brien said comes standard on higher SEER models).  Judging by looks, it was overpriced, but it may be more effective than it looks.  The only other surprise was that I was expected to schedule the city inspections, not CMS.  That was fairly easy to do, and the city inspector arrived quickly the next afternoon.  All in all, the installation went well, with only minor glitches.  The CMS crews seemed very knowledgeable, minimized the mess associated with the installation, and did a pretty good job cleaning up what little mess there was.  It was great to be able to sleep in cool comfort that night.  I plan to use CMS to service the A/C and the furnace too.

Brien Carroll  came and gave us a very reasonable quote.  We received several others.  We called him and asked several clarifying questions.  He was very thorough and friendly.  We looked at the ratings on Angies list for the 3 top bids.  We felt best about CMS.  The men that came and installed the equipment were prompt and very courteous.  We are very pleased with the work

Called them in the morning, they gave me an ETA for later that same day and arrived exactly when they said they would.  The tech quickly figured out that the ignition needed to be replaced and the unit needed to be cleaned.  Took approximately 40 minutes.  Very professional, very courteous and the price was fair and reasonable.  Would definitely use them again and will also recommend them to folks in our HOA who are in need of heater / AC / water heater service.

They were competent. It was very complicated job and he knew how to do it. They were timely. They showed up when they were supposed to. They were very polite. Also, it involved not only their company, but they had to contact an electrician and a drywall guy. So, he subcontracted those companies out in a way that was convenient for me. It only took two days. He was excellent.

Their responsiveness was very welcome, given that we had just moved into the house where an inspector had failed miserably, and we were left with non-functional heat/cool.
He discovered that the cooler only needed the source faucet repaired, and offered to oil and inspect further it for free!  He also found that the furnace wasn't coming on because of an incorrectly wired thermostat.  In all, we were only charged a minimal service fee.  The best part was that he walked me through the inner workings of each item he inspected and explained the care procedure and what to watch out for, but didn't pressure me to update or fix anything.
The additional cost was that when we discovering a duct-taped vent for the water, I asked for that to be repaired as well, and he swag back by later that week to redo the vent pipe.
He (Brian) was professional and very knowledgeable, and I very much would use again.

Brien and his team, Fred and Dan, arrived on time with the correct A/C unit and materials.  They were polite and courteous throughout the installation.  Originally, the plan was to complete the installation in one day, whoever it rained that afternoon so they could not finish the job as planned.  Brien arranged his schedule to come back the first thing the next day and finish the job.  They kept the house and yard clean throughout the installation.  The unit is working as expected and there were not hidden costs or extras required.

We had a whole house humidifier put in about a year ago and it costs about $1,000.  The furnace quit working about a month and a half ago and the tech for Carroll Mechanical said he could jury-rig a part because they didn't make parts for it anymore.

This house was built in 1977 and the furnace was the original furnace.  So he recommended a new one and he actually put in a new one for us and it cost $2,400 and because we had a new one put in, the city came out, and said there were a couple of code violations that had nothing to do with what Carroll Mechanical did, they were code violations that were connected with the house and Carroll Mechanical fixed those and I just had the inspection done this morning and they all passed. I paid him $366.00 for that.

$2400.00 plus the $366.00 to fix the code violations is what I paid to Carroll Mechanical.  They are very competent and very honest and they do a professional job.  I would absolutely use them again in the future.
