I suppose I shouldn't be THAT h****** them, but its hard to give a decent review to a company that doesn't respond to your request for service. Guess they don't need the business.

After cleaning the ducts, we have much less dust around the house. It was well worth the money to have them cleaned. We think this is the first time the ducts were cleaned and they were very dirty. Lucky Duct called the night before to confirm the appt and time. He said he would be there between 8 and 8:30AM and would call about 15 mins before he arrived. The next morning he called at about 8:55AM to let me know he was about 5 mins away. Although he was not on time, the work was done properly. The job took about 4.5hrs, which is within the 4 to 5 hrs that I was quoted for the job. He was professional and answered all of our questions throughout the process. He also took the time to go over furnace maintenace and how to increase the life of our system.

When we first contacted the company, we were given a very low verbal estimate for installing air conditioning. So we made appointment for the representative to do on-site measurements and provide a written estimate. The representative gave us a verbal estimate that was twice the price we'd been quoted on the phone. The price he quoted for the air conditioning units was higher than we could purchase them retail, in direct opposition to the phone conversation. And of course the company was not interested in installing units that we purchased elsewhere. We asked for a written estimate, which the representative promised we would receive within two weeks. That did not happen. We then began calling the company to discuss the matter, and those efforts were totally nonproductive. In fact at one point eh individual told me that he had "cut off" his hand and therefore had not returned calls. He repeatedly said he would email a written estimate, which he did not do.

They were polite on the phone, but showed up two hours late for the estimate and then never emailed it, so we never had the chance to use them. We let them know we never got the estimate and they said they would send it right out, but never did.

Arrived at scheduled time of 9 AM. Called at 815 AM to notify me that he was on his way. One person did the job. Took about 2 hours to setup equipment and vacuum hose from basement window to outside blower unit in front yard. Took him 2 hours to clean ducts, returns, and heater and A/C unit. Took an hour to break down equipment and load truck and cleanup. Ducts were very dirty and had not been cleaned since house was built in 1964. Heat and A/C units have worked very well and much less filter maintenance has been required.

Lucky ducts went to work and cleaned all 24 ducts in my home, and when they checked on the evaporator coil above the heater, it was totally iced up! They made sure the coil thawed out and then cleaned that as well as the condenser coils, replaced the filter (with a great explanation of which type to use and how to install it properly) cleaned all the vents and just brought everything up to tip-top condition. And believe it or not, my dryer duct from my electric dryer to the outside was totally plugged up....no air was even getting through. So now I can actually feel the cool air coming out of my ducts, I don't have to worry about my dryer (for awhile), and maybe my upstairs will be cool enough to allow us to sleep at night. Andrew was professional, skilled, knowledgeable and now I won't go to anyone else for my HVAC needs. I'm totally satisfied with their work!

This company does not return phone calls. I called twice during the month of June. Haven't heard back from anyone. If you can't do the job, at least return a phone call.

I called Lucky Duct, hoping to make an appointment. I left a message with all my contact information.
The next day, I left another nearly-identical message.
A week later, and still no response. This is not how you do customer service, guys. Sorry for the bad rating (not to mention the loss of my business), but you've earned it.

"We are very sorry to see that we have allowed this type of rating to happen. We are unaware of any message, but do know the hot spell that has struck the region has made it nearly impossible for all reputable HVAC companies to keep up with the demand. There is nothing worse than to find out that we have left a customer in need without any type of solution. However, we feel that this rating is out of line, because Angie's List has been a blessing to Lucky Duct, and a member should realize that reputation is all a company has, and to put this type of strike on us during a time where all or almost all companies where having a hard time keeping up is unfair. We really do wish the demand was as consistently high as it has been in this heat wave so that we could support a larger staff to have more ability to provide even better customer service. But we are a smaller family owned and operated company which has some of the best of the best in the industry. And our ratings reflect that. However when a storm hits even the professionals are left chasing their tails. Quality over Quantity no matter the demand is what we stand by. But the work performed by Lucky Duct, even during the storm is at the top of the industry. We are not perfect and neither is any other company. This rating should not be valid since work has not been performed. In order to accurately review a business, one should have some live interaction in order to bash a reputation. Any reasonable person should (but may not) understand during a time of extreme heat or cold HVAC companies may get to a point where they are no longer available, even on the phone. It's nothing personal, and we wish it didn't happen. We do our best, and are truly sorry for being a part of this time of stress in your life. We would like nothing more than to make it up to you."

He arrived at the scheduled time of 9 AM. It took about 5 hours to do the work with about an hour of setup and an hour of cleanup. Air ducts had never been cleaned since I have lived in house for 33 years and house is 48 years old. I have a Golden Retriever so I expected the return ducts to have a lot of hair. The return ducts were loaded with dog hair and almost plugged. The AC evaporator coil had about a 1/4 inch of lint on the fins. He thoughly cleaned all of the ducts and the furnace and AC equipment and the electronic air cleaner. Once completed he started and tested the heat and AC and the air flow was greatly improved and the HVAC system runs much better and the air quality is much improved. He did a outstanding job cleaning the ducts and cleaning up when he was done.

The whole process took about 4.5 hours to complete (we have 13 in/out-take registers that needed to be cleaned). I felt they did a very thorough job and inspected our entire system for problems which I had not anticipated. They were not hesitant about answering any questions and helped explain what was necessary to maintain our entire unit. Immediately, I noticed a difference in our air quality. As an allergy sufferer, I have been able to sleep easier at night and have not woke up with any headaches or a stuffy nose since the cleaning has been done. I wish I would have had them clean our air ducts long before now.

I contacted Andrew first about air duct cleaning and then he told me he was partnered with Duffey 'sHeating & AC, who did the furnace and water heater work we also needed completed. He was great to work with and offered the duct cleaning for free as part of the furnace/water heater package. He was thorough in his work and pulled a huge amount of debris from the ducts . . . and he was so pleasant to deal with. A positive experience across the board!

Spent 5.5 hours total answering questions cleaning the ducts, furnace and outside A/C compressor radiator intakes
Very friendly, courteous and professional.
Cleaned about 18 registers and returns for a 3 level house with basement.
Spent about 45 minutes making sure the blower fan was cleaned thoroughly.
