I was in an accident and after speaking with the wonderful people at Progressive, who I have done business with for 15 years, I needed to contact Middle Park Agency to go over part of my insurance plan as it was different than what I spoke with Tyler about. I called and spoke with Tyson who was incredibly unprofessional and rude. He became very defensive when I asked about the option on my insurance that I had previously asked for, but found it not to be on my policy. He completely derailed the conversation and started insinuating that I was a person that would try to get all that I can from this accident, even know we have only had one prior accident in the 15 years that we have had vehicle insurance. I stopped him right away and expressed that I was upset that what I had asked for was not on the policy and all I want is to have a rental car to get to work until my car is fixed as I had asked for when getting the policy with them. He claimed that he couldn't see who wrote the policy, which I was informed was not true as it was Tyler who helped write it. He asked what I wanted and I told him a little compassion and decency, to which he chuckled and said he can only help with an updated policy moving forward and that blaming them isn't going to help. I couldn't believe his tone! It was obvious that he didn't care about his customer service or that his customer just got into an accident. I let him know that I was not blaming anyone and that we put our trust into an insurance agent as we do not know anything about insurance and if we ask for "abc" we expect it to be there and I wanted to understand why it is not. Never once did he ask about the accident or if anyone was hurt, he just continued being condescending. I asked for a manager and he chuckled, stating that he was the owner and if I wanted different customer service I would need to go elsewhere and HUNG UP on me! I have NEVER even heard of anyone treating a customer like this. I called Progressive and they were just as shocked and unsettled that I was treated like this especially that he hung up on a customer. They are investigating this as well as they do not want their name associated with someone like this. Please, BEWARE of this agency. If you would like to be treated with any kind of human decency, or expect to have an adult conversation you should go elsewhere. There are many other agencies that you can go to, most of which you don't even need to go into the office. I have already called another one and they actually cared that I could be hurt and my car might be totaled. In this small community we should know that we are all there for each other, and that we can count on common decency from our agent. Even if the policy can’t be fixed, explain that in a mature and professional way instead of becoming so defensive and unkind. Tyson and Tyler's father Kirk started the business in the 80's and Tyson and his twin brother Tyler worked there for a long time, which unfortunately helps gives the perception that he is not only fine with treating people like this, but that there are no consequences for him as his dad started the company and added him as a partner. If he were an employee at another agency there is no way he would have done this. Tyler has moved out of state, so at least the policy might be written correctly, but until Tyson understands how to treat people I would think twice!
