Hoy Enterpirses Review We found Hoy Enterprises through Home Advisor. In short it became a most disappointing experience in regards to the excruciating lengthy timeline...the subpar workmanship, the delays, the lack of communication, the frequent mistakes, ‘and the numerous untruths’ we were told. We could never in good conscience recommend them to anyone. We began the project in July of 2018 and their work ended November of 2019 with an addition still unfinished. We handed over our first payment in July 2018. **In August of 2018 we finally met with Mike Hoy and Architect. Paul (architect) had many good ideas.....we had provided our own drawings of what we wanted. **Oct 5th we are reaching out to Hoy as to where we are at with the design..alas, Hoy was out of country..many back and forth texts we finally met again with both Oct 16th. We reviewed the new roof design and other issues. **Nov 16 ..I am texting as to where we were at with the drawings.. **Nov 28...again we are reaching how to Hoy..timeline of next step..he replied it was Engineers delay. **Dec 10...meeting cancelled... **Dec 13...we meet ..he assure us plans are ready to go..pending approval, everyone is lined up **Dec 30...nothing happpening ...Hoy texts that Paul (architect) working on Bay window revisions, then can submit to county..then they can break ground soon **Jan 3...reaching out again as no word from Hoy..he replies Paul still working Bay window. **Jan 9..Hoy texts he will be submitting **Jan 17.. they email us final proofs..We choose the front door..days later we note on the drawings the new windows are much smaller than existing ones.... we call to put a stop to the purchase of windows...Paul comes back to go over everything and the need to re do the drawings. ...in the next month we requested a quote from Paul as to the difference in price of the roof we had designed vs the lower profile roof Paul deigned. It took over a month to get the quote and actually what we got was a full blue print/design...not what we asked for but it was good to see what our roof would look...we were charged for the new blueprints. Paul and Hoy did mention the windows on either side of the front door would need to be tempered..another cost..we said fine. The windows on original Architect design were smaller than existing and we had asked they be changed to match existing ones. March 19...we reach out raising our concerns of delay..had not received quotes on the different roofs. March 29...we meet and begin finalizing plans. April 11...in their defense we changed our mind regarding the roof...we decided to go with Paul’s design , make sure the windows are the correct size and placement. Hoy says he will re submit to County. April18.. Project manager ‘Glenn’reaches out to us. Plans are to be under way. I saw the drawings Glen had and was upset to see he had the original ones with smaller windows, not the one with all the changes ( the second set blueprints we had paid for) He mentions we have to wait for the trusses and I asked why as the low profile trusses were to be built onsite. He assures me to not worry about ‘the little things’ as he will worry ‘about the big things’. I bit my lip and thought I needed to trust him May 13..nothing has happened but a red dumpster in driveway..I reach out..again.. May 22...we text Glen...they begin work 2 days later July 30..framing has begun..it was shortly after that they put the roof on and it WAS THE WRONG TRUSSES...after serious discussions they did order the correct...may I point out I had raised concerns re the roof trusses April 18th and was dismissed by Glen. Aug 6.. we reach out as new trusses delivered but no further work being done. Old trusses in driveway Aug 23..again reaching out as to when work will resume ..... in the end, framing was beyond subpar..2 walls were off plumb by an inch.. they insulated the new windows with the wrong insulating foam and when we emailed them they replied stating the foam was fine as it was just a scam by the company to make one spend more money. The Inspector disagreed, Windows were bowing and Glen in the end did get the foam cut out with correct type placed. They also failed to order the Tempered windows claiming the County had approved the plans without...remember they told us the windows on either side of front door needed to be tempered and then resubmitted to County. I doubt the County made the mistake...the Inspector caught it immediately. They sent a company to put security film on..Pella windows told us our warranty would be voided (Hoy and Glen argued this). We will replace the windows down the road as we had no more energy to argue with them. ..for more issues...The vaulted ceiling in foyer became a trey ceiling but an odd design...even though the original and final blueprints had vaulted. Siding was so subpar that Glen had to send yet another company out to remedy the mistakes. We have more examples of their subpar workmanship but this gives you the idea of what we wine through. $10,000 over original bid we are left with an unfinished addition. On the last day when asked by Glen he hoped we were happy I could only say ‘Happy’ was not the word I would use but ‘relieved’ as we were done working with them. We have print outs of all our correspondence and we may have a few dates off but not by much. Again, Hoy Enterprises May have done well in past but this is what they do now and We can not recommend them. Sincerely Mike and Marie Mastin
